yakdung 2,926
So much so, it has Yak thinking about purchasing one: http://money.cnn.com/2014/04/22/news/companies/gun-silencer-sales/index.html?iid=s_mpm
pjj342 632
I wonder if all the registration is worth it. We see the bad actions of the atf and trust that we wont be the next one whos unlawfully searched, seized, or imprisoned for our name being on their short list. When the boot comes down, they will know exactly where to find you and have' reason' to toss your house up side down in attempt to charge you with whatever else they can. I know its a pretty common thing, I just dont trust the principle. Im not sure that a silencer or sbr is worth the exposure.
mostholycerebus 415
A few states just started allowing them. In a small market with modern JIT stocking/manufacturing, even a small increase in demand can severely affect prices and availability. Also, the runaway inflation that media is ignoring is playing a part. A few years ago, a $200 tax stamp was a healthy investment. Nowadays, its not even a weeks worth of food for some families. Especially when you consider this administrations action, get your cheap stamps while you can! As far as registering, im already a C&R so i'm not worried about more exposure. Im also very careful to follow the laws, even the 922r stuff thats still debatable if it applies to end users.
poolingmyignorance 2,191
I doubt that the hammer week come down like that. I always hear "they can search your Hose without warrant any time". Bull shit. They can't even audit a shop outside business hours. They need a reason to come look. Should the ATF go rouge, then 4473 stored in shops will be enough to find the rest of you. Anybody know of a case where they came in without warrant or notification to see Ann individuals NFA item? I haven't.
Eric Pate 478
The only thing I'm concerned about is the (albeit remote) possibility of suppressors being DEregulated. Not a bad thing, but I'd hate to think I paid all those transfer taxes for nothing! Actually, deregulation might have to happen in some way just due to the sheer volume of demand for Form 3 and Form 4 transfers. The examiners are getting creamed.
h3ws12hi 15
Gentlemen, please allow me to digress...I thought the purpose of a silencer was to minimize the "boom"? ;-) (_E=MC2_)
scoutjoe 276
Depending on your application its worth it. Since PA lets you hunt with them, the hoops were worth it for me.I can now get all the pesky groundhogs around the barnyard with my .22 and the other animals don't know what is going on. This is especially true if I can ever find CCI Quiet again.

We still cant hunt with a 10 22, or mk2, we are stuck with bolt, lever, or pump. Not sure id pay the fee to put a can on a bolt 22.
csspecs 1,987
I'd like to seem them come off the NFA, seems like they should almost be required for safety. The same people that would shriek about dropping the requirement of mufflers on cars are likely opposed to suppressors. Its not like they make full powered pistol rounds any kind of quiet. It still sounds like a smacking the side of a dumpster with a sludge hammer, it just takes the crack out of it.

Eliminates the cycling noise and gas release from the action. It can also be reliably run with any type of ammo (such as subsonic or colibri) without inducing cycling issues. I'm planning on getting one of these (Savage Mark II FV-SR) when my Sparrow transfer comes through. Edited April 24, 2014 by DistalRadius
mancat 2,368
I hope it keeps climbing. The ATF already cannot keep up, with repeated crashes and a recent complete abandonment of the eForms system. It's only a matter of time until the delay becomes so long that someone takes the ATF to court, and the whole NFA law could be challenged. We could see suppressors, SBRs, and SBS open up to deregulation. Unfortunately I just don't think full-autos will happen. At best, the registry could be re-opened. My money is better spent on a larger caliber. I'm leaning toward a 30 cal can. Then there are bolt and break action 300 blk that will really shine. I can then take said 30 cal can and put it on any of the other lower calibers I own.
Big John! 2,062
If this doesn't give you a boner for a 30 cal can, nothing will. This is also the can I'm considering AAC 762sdn6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMO6A-uV0JE And another... Don't forget that 45 is already subsonic. Therefore, and osprey on the end of a 1911 or the like would be a real treat as well.
nlacy 692
I'm waiting on a 5.56 can and a .22 can. If I were to do it again, I'd skip the 5.56 can and go for the .30 cal can, which I could still use on a 5.56, but also build that .300 blackout upper I've always wanted.
