  1. Am I the only person who hasn't gotten his gas plug from ordering a first round drum?
  2. Bought some ammo from him. He's a cool guy and has good taste in beer.
  3. I had the same exact problem with mine after cleaning the gas tube, it just wasn't getting enough pressure to push the bolt back all the way. I assume this is the same problem with yours. Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to go to the range to see if this worked yet but I took the tube back apart again (man that puck was a BITCH to get out of there), cleaned the shit out of it, soaked the puck in cleaner to get it squeaky clean and cleared out the three gas ports as best I could with a dental pick. I know people say to be sure NOT to oil the gas tube as it will gunk up and stop i
  4. You lucky bastard. I expect a range report shortly after it arrives.
  5. Son of bitch. Perhaps that explains why the stock handguard gets hot as shit.
  6. My s-12 started having some real problems cycling shotshells even on setting 2 so I gave the gun a thorough cleaning today and cleared up a bunch of gunk in the front of the gas cylinder. The selector and gas piston were a real bitch to remove cuz of all the gunk-up. While I was cleaning out the tube I noticed some cleaning fluid started leaking out of a hole in the lower left quarter of the front of the gas tube, near the end of the piston's travel right before the tube gets smaller. Is that supposed to be there? I'm assuming that there should be a pin there that is holding the gas tube i

How accurate are you guys with these? I'm kind of questioning what I should be in the market for now. I like the fact that it has great range but I've heard mixed reports about accuracy - everything from sub-MOA is no problem to 4" groups at 100 yards if you're lucky. Another turn-off is that the 150 grain ammo seems to be really pretty expensive - aound 50 cents a round for retail. Is the corrosive surplus stuff going to screw the gun up in a major way? It also seems like the 150 grain surplus is a little more rare and expensive than the heavier stuff.

I'm thinking about getting one of these at the gun show this weekend as my first rifle. Anyone have a reason to talk me out of it? I'm looking for something fun most of all that will be nice and accurate. edit: also, is it true that these don't do well with bullets over 150grain like the russian bulk?
  9. While there's no way in hell I could afford that I'd love to see some pics. Close ups of the charging handle would be nice if you could work those in. Although I can't buy it having pics up will make someone fall in love...
  10. Can anyone tell me a good place to mount a sling on the front of the gun? The stock has a small slit to run the sling but I don't know how to best attach it to the front.
  11. Yep, I said I was good to get one in your original thread and I'm still looking forward to seeing the final product! It blew my mind when I thought about the fact that my conversion cost more than a lot of you guys paid for your guns during the good old days. I'm glad I did it myself though.
  12. Mine was slightly off the factory hole but not as much as yours. If I layed the part down on the receiver it would show that it was slightly bent inwards. I put the screw in the middle hole, then pulled lightly on the front of the trigger guard and the hole lined up and the part was flush all the way across the receiver. The washer should be plenty big enough to go over the old trigger hole without a problem. Remember if you're using an ace internal receiver block you'll have to do additional modifications to it in order to get it to work with this part.
  13. Just finished! w00t! More pics and notes in the "conversion" section. Tromix stock w/ limbsaver attached w/ side folding mechanism and ace internal receiver block Tromix galil vented hand guard Tapco SAW grip Tromix DIY trigger guard Tromix modified FCG
