  1. The UTG side mount sits a little too high for you to use the iron sights-it is completely blocking the rear leaf sight notch when looking downrange. No problems with the quick detach, very solid- I had to adjust the locking screw once with a screwdriver, never had a problem since.
  2. Good Day to you, Sir, Perfect time for me to read your very detailed range report on your PSL, since I just came home from my local gun store and was seriously considering a purchase. I just have one question, is your PSL imported by Century Arms?
  3. The fix is simple. I will drill it out 9/16th all the way, then there is no chamber face for the shock wave to hit. Concur. Muzzle face should be flush with inside face of flash hider. I will proceed with my project. Thanks for the recipe, Boss! If ever the "no thread muzzle brake" becomes available, i will install that on my planned purchase of a saiga 7.62... Happy Holidays to all!
  4. Have you done a functional check in the firing range to verify if the FH will stay in place with only one set screw? If so, I will go ahead and do the same thing on my .223. I have an Olyarms A2 FH that is on standby for this project. I am tired of waiting for that "no thread" muzzle brake to become available...
  5. I was in the same boat as you were. I even have all the tools to manufacture/install a bullet guide, but the .223 mags were eluding me. I finally gave up and bought me 2 surefire steel mags that the local gunstore here had. I couldn't even find the darn things for sale in the internet. I know my post isn't helping you a bit looking for the mags, but the .223 magazine issue is a real bummer...maybe we should have just bought the Saiga 7.62X39? Good luck and have fun!
  6. I stand corrected. Thanks for the info!
  7. I did not like the "long" trigger pull I had with my Saiga .308 either. That is what drove me to "convert" it to a pistol grip conversion so I can change out the trigger using a Tromix modified Tapco Fire Control Group. I do not believe that there is any Trigger Group in the market that will provide any improvement on the original saiga trigger for replacement, and retain the "sporter" configuration (anybody, please correct me if I am wrong).
  8. My Saiga .308 Conversion: Tromix modified Tapco FCG Tapco AK Stock Tapco AK Grip UTG AK Quad Rail .308 is the top one with 21.8 " barrel. Bottom rifle is "little brother" in .223.
  9. I used a Tromix modified Tapco FCG. Rifle has been shooting great - no safety lever issues.
  10. Thanks Bro. I'm now mulling over what flash hider I'm going to install. Either go with an AR birdcage or an AK Compensator. I also attached a photo to show how it looks like with a Tapco AK Stock.
  11. My Saiga .223 Conversion: Tapco G2 FCG Tapco T6 Stock with AR PG CAA Adjustable Cheek Piece UTG Yugo M70 Quad Rail Surefire Steel Mag The UTG M70 quad rail fits perfect...BUT, the lower back portion will not reach the forward part of the receiver. You will have a rather disturbing gap. My remedy to this was to saw off the back portion of my saiga handguard and used it to fill the gap and used the UTG shims that came with the rail. While I was at it, I figured i might as well saw off the forward portion of the saiga handguard and use it as a "retainer"!
  12. I somehow could not reply to your latest post, let me try replying to this one. Yes, that is the one I am using on my Tapco T6. Just make sure the piccatiny rail is included. I noticed on the CAA website that they sell the Adjustable Cheek Piece and the rail separate. I got mine as a complete set from a local gunstore here in Virginia Beach. They are made of hard plastic and are pretty good for the price.
  13. Command Arms Accessories has an Adjustable Cheek Piece and a Picatinny Rail Mount that will fit the Tapco T6 Collapsible Stock. I have been using this setup on my Saiga .308 and .223 conversions. I use the UTG 3rd Gen mount also.
  14. Sweet, congrats! Any pics? How did you handle the spot weld on the trigger guard plate? Was that the most difficult step of the conversion? 2 1/2 hours is not a very long time compared to researching for months about the conversion! I was planning on drilling a new hole to bolt on the front of the trigger guard, Just like Cross-Conn's website shows. Did you use a hand drill or drill press? A rotary tool or hand files? Which kind of bits? Thanks...... It looks like the saiga 308 trigger guard will hold good with no screws attaching it to the receiver-the front portion will be held by the
