My understanding was that barrel length did not effect accuracy...just velocity. My 107UR can shoot better than 4" at 100yrd or less. And, if anything, my lame results are due to my eyes and the rough sights. I would imagine a red dot would help a lot in this department (ahhh, more stuff to spend $$$ on). I have a 107CR too and don't notice a bit of difference, in the accuracy department, b/n it and the UR. The issue has as much to do with velocity as it does that fact that a shorter sight radius magnifies your aiming error. After 12.5" or so, this is not much of a difference, howev

The Burris Optic was a huge failure and they never made it work with the aimpoint. Move on to better things Madmax4x4!
-
+1 Harv, however Id like to point out a few slight clarifications: -The Russians did not do a "krink" in 7.62x39, they do have a 12.5" sbr in that caliber (model #104). -The Bulgarian military does not field a "krink" in that size, however some Bulgarian Police units have been seen with them. EDIT: The Bulgarian military issued 12.5" barrels with an underfolder Model AR-M2F, but again, as I stated above, no 8.5" units outside the police.

The barrel is the issue in and of itself. the m92 has a 10.5" barrel and the 107 (when SBR'ed) has an 8.5" barrel. There is a reason that comm block military's never issued a 8.5" krink in 7.62x39 and it has to do with the 225 fps loss in terms of velocity compared to the 10.5" units (which run around 2125 FPS + or - a few). These divices were meant to engage enemies at ranges of 100 yards or less and the extra 2" at the maximum length means the difference between 2.8" groups and 4"+ groups. Further, the lack of a chrome lined barrel on an SBR helps to aid in the accuracy department (though ma

Here is one on gunbroker: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=200515391 there are several others on various auction sites as well. You can pick up the side folder and mounting hardware from forum vendor K-Var here: http://www.k-var.com/shop/product.php?productid=17651&cat=330&page=1 You should pay between $650-900 for the kit with barrel. The receiver will run another 100, the side folder will run $240, and the actual build can cost from $400 up depending on the builder. Good Luck bro!
-
gunbroker for the black poly handguards, Nodak-Spud for the receiver, theakforum.net has the WTS section where I got the m92 virgin kit, and the beer can flash hider can be purchased HERE. Good luck!

It is not a difficult modification. You can buy them here: http://www.dmazay.ru/index.php?productID=3676 However, You need to be in Russia to order....
-
Yugo m92 with a russian poly side folder, Black Poly handguards, NDS-1KP receiver and Beer-Can Flash hider. It trumps the 107UR in every way possible... (Not mine, but what I intend to build)

EDITED! Thanks That is funny as hell Sal, but sadly I must issue a FAIL. You see that is my boy you are talking to and your comments are not age appropriate. I hope he doesn't decide to beat your ass, because again as his father I would have to approve. Ill edit it, I forgot thats your kid bro! Snap, it was funny though, I am tempted to save it...

saiga 7.62x39 barrel was damaged while cutting on the FSB shroud
bigsal replied to nathanmarkus's topic in Saiga 7.62 X 39
I think you might be ok, A stratagy you may want to pursue is test firing the rifle when no one is around and with some sort of protective barrier in case the end comes apart violently. Test it, than if its fine shoot it. If its not fine, come back and report. -
saiga 7.62x39 barrel was damaged while cutting on the FSB shroud
bigsal replied to nathanmarkus's topic in Saiga 7.62 X 39
To the OP:> Do you have a picture of the bore? Did the cut go into the bore enough to allow light to pass through? If so you will need to cut and recrown the barrel. Let me know if you have any other questions, I am happy to help. -
GPD:> whats that emotion I am feeling.... oh yeah...regret? Self_Inflicted:> The magazine decision should be a non-issue. You should go Bulgarian ether way. The strength of the AK platform is the magazines. Using AR mags or Galil mags are a major downgrade in capabilities compared to the black ((10))'s with metal reinforcement.
-
It may be flawed, but its a hell of a lot better than I could do.
-
Rick, I am glad to see you enjoy drawing. Art is its own reward. This being said, your representation of an AKM has several flaws which Id like to point out (because Im a dick). First the receiver is to short. The front trunnion is to large and the bolt looks strange. I am gonna be honest with you, I wouldn't quit your day job to pursue a career as a Kalashnikov artist.

What is a good price for a russian plum bayonet?
bigsal replied to chevyman097's topic in Saiga 7.62 X 39
I havent been keeping up with forums much lately, but that is definitely good news. Its to hard to get (10)plums. I was lucky to find one at 65$ but havent seen on the lower side in to long. I inquired with K-var asking if they had any info as to 30's but never got the response. I am sure they will develop 30's sooner or later, but what the cost is going to be. Possibly near what the (10)plums are or close. Greg:> I still have a few plum 223 ((10))'s in, if you want them PM me with an offer. -
dont buy the midwest industries rail product, its inferior to the Ultimak rail system seen here:
-
get them here: http://www.robertrtg.com/aktangscrew.html

bigsal replied to chevyman097's topic in Saiga 7.62 X 39
Chevy:> A couple of options for you. First, US Palm the maker of the AK30 said on an inferior forum that they would be putting out a plum colored magazine before Christmas. Second, K-Var is currently making (and selling) plum 10 round magazines and they wil probably be printing them in 30 round variety if they want to please the market. Third, I am down to my last ((10)) plum magazine (sold the other one for $100... you snooze you loose bro) and I am not sure it will be for sale at any price... although I am as allways open to offers. At any rate good luck with the plum gear! -
I have been down to one rifle not to long ago, so the OP's question is not a hypothetical for me... I would obviously choose the 7.62x39 saiga for question 1.
