  1. Some people prefer the Kobra because it has many different settings of dot styles. I don't believe the PK has this. The PK is good because it is one of the only AK red dots I know of that still has a black dot when the battery runs out so that your not S*&T out of luck. I personally like the Kobra though because it mounts lower. Larue tactical also makes a red dot for AK that replaces your rear sight. It looks pretty sleek but you will not be using your side rail. I want to take advantage of my side rail so I prefer the Kobra. I'm waiting for Kalinka to get more in because they look
  2. I live in NJ so I have all my paperwork with the gun. That is the primary reason I sent it out to have work done because of the stigma attached to AK weapons here. Also I needed the barrel threaded and the brake permanently attached on as per NJ law. It's hard to get people to work on even Post ban weapons in NJ. Most people are not aware of the laws and they don't touch the AK/AR area.
  3. I'll be going to my police station Friday if I don't hear from him by then. I'll keep everyone posted. I guess I will be selling most of my 223 ammo to pay for another rifle if I don't get it back. I'm wondering what documentation I will have to show the police. I have the confirmation tracking number as well as the money order receipt. I guess I will show them the PM's as well. and have them try to call his number.
  4. Thats the right address. Thanks. I just called the OPD and they transferred me to Orange County Sheriff's. The deputy told me he can't really take a ride out there for possible criminal activity. He told me to file a criminal report with my local PD and then it would be forwarded here. At the point the detectives would go out there to take a look.
  5. I'm assuming I'd have to call Orlando Police Department. I think I will do that tonight. I'm trying my best not to call the ATF.
  6. If you swing by please let us know. I have a feeling I'm gonna be beat out of a gun and 325 cash. Basically the guy has got about 1000 dollars worth of stuff to sell. I still don't understand why this guy is willing to do the time in prison when he can just send my stuff back. Even he kept my money order I'd be beat out of 325 rather then the gun and my accessories.
  7. I've had no luck contacting this guy either. I've sent him numerous emails and I finally contacted the administrator yesterday. He's got my 223 rifle he was going to convert. An Ar mag adapter from magnolia state armory, and pds 556 muzzle brake, and 325 in a money order. I finally saved up for a 223 and this guy has officially screwed me. Now I have 223 ammo and no rifle. I even told him to just ship the rifle back and I would forget about the shipping if he couldn't do the conversion. If I don't here from him in a week I will have to call the police. I'm trying my best to not get the a
  8. You are allowed to have a pistol grip conversion in NJ without a bayo lug. You are allowed to have a muzzle brake but no flash suppressor. If you decide to put a muzzle brake on it has to be permanently attached if the barrel is threaded. Generally, a gunsmith just uses silver solder. If you want some flash suppressing capability I would recommend the j-tac model that has come out because it is still classified by the ATF as a non flash suppressing device. And it also looks pretty bad@#!. Other then that more then half the time Nj law enforcement doesn't know the law anyway and just beca
  9. I need an adjustable windage rear sight for ak. Or a place where I can purchase it. I can't get that front sight to budge.
  10. I have a mossber 590a1.. If it's good enough for the military it's good enough for me. 8+1 rounds and a bayo lug. The 870 has got nothin on it.
  11. Hold tight bro, You should start seeing more wolf in mid march for about 240 for 1000 rds. So save your money and buy an abundant supply to stock up. I have some wolf on backorder and they gave me a march date. Cabellas is giving the same date. Air seal some to store and buy some for target practice.
  12. I am planning on putting on an ar mag adapter for my 223 and they claim a bullet guide is not necessary. If I do the pistol grip conversion myself can I put the parts in and get them tig welded by a welder? Or does it require that a gunsmith has to do the conversion and then weld the holes?
  13. DamagedWorld is right. COntact your state police. Most of the time even they won't know the laws. I know most builders can modify your rifle for the particular state. The ffl's in your area's will be aware of the law. I had an AK style rifle build for nj from lancaster arms. Basically it had a muzzle brake tacked on, no bayo lug, and no folding stock. ALso no mag over 15 rounds in NJ. If you are getting it built or converted see if the builder will throw in some paperwork that states it is modified for your state. Just in case someone tries to cause problems at the range. It's always
  14. What did you do with the original rear sight. Just pull the pin out and take it off?
  15. If I do the pistol grip conversion myself, what would I need to rivet the bullet guide and the holes for pistol grip. Also, I'm assuming I can just purchase the aperture sights and get them welded on by a welder. There's a lot of information on this forum and I've had trouble locating a step by step guide to doing a solid conversion. The information is scattered and I'm a little confused on the differing procedures everyone has used
  16. I was wondering if anyone knew any private hobbyist builders that do a good job on conversions. I am sending one of my rifles to redstick but they're is a long waiting list. Most of the commercial builders on this site have a long waiting list as well. I wanted a standard saiga pistol grip conversion, ability to use standard ak mags, Aperature sights welded on, and a muzzle brake installed. If anyone knows anyone or can do the conversion PM me please. Thank you
  17. thegunsource.com guys. Just ordered 2 7.62 x 39. They are in stock. 223's are backordered though. I paid 355 for each plus shipping.
  18. They're the no longer on their site. I went to purchase one yesterday and I guess they already sold out. Sucks. Wonder when I'm gonna find one. i want one to . or a reasonable AK. There is one on GB for 399 buy now.(7.62x39NIB) I saw that one on gunbroker. It's used. Gilberts guns had new ones for less. It's this anxiety that's killing everyone about what's gonna happen these next couple years. I got a custom build from lancaster arms, cost me 6 and change and now its well over 900 dollars. And nothing has even happened yet. The mags have doubled in price and it's not

  20. I was wondering if anyone welded on any aperture sights on their rifles. I see many saiga builders advertise on their sights this service for saiga rifles. I wanted to know where I could order one of these sights so I could tig weld it on.
  21. I guess it depends on what you want them to do. If it's a basic conversion, they'll probably just swap out/move the FCG forward, throw on a pistol grip, change the stock, and maybe weld up the holes. So in that situation, you'd be getting a "cleaner" look, as opposed to most who convert their own and just pop fake rivet-heads into the holes. It really depends on how deep of a conversion you want. 22. I spoke with Russian American Armory on the phone about a week ago. A mixed batch of saiga rifles and shotguns is going out in Dec. He told me to check the distributors on the site. According to him, the prices people are asking for are ridiculous. In my opinion, the government's got a lot more to worry about right now then banning guns. If a ban does go through, I will no longer have faith in our elected officials. People need food and jobs and they're worried about guns.

  24. Hello, I am new to this forum and have done some research before posting. I have found many different techniques to converting a saiga. I wanted to know if I do the conversion myself, what differences would the professionals be offering. Are they installing any extra features on the rifle? Also, what is the most cost effective builder if I take that route.
