We do, but you must be a contributor to post a WTS in it. OK, I screwed up. Thanks, jcs44

The sight tool for SKS works fine and they're cheap. Check Ebay.

I bought one of these from Classic Arms. I really like the look of the thumb hole stock. I'm not sure the longer barrel is any more accurate, but it looks better on this model. It's a great shooter and the trigger does not seem to have the slap issues of the basic Saigas. jcs44

Get yourself a front sight adjustment tool. I have one for an SKS and it works fine. You can find them pretty cheap on ebay.

Thanks for all the input. I think I'll leave as it is as many have stated. I'm not sure I really know what trigger slap is, but I have not noticed anything uncomfortable with this trigger set up. Thanks, jcs44

I have the Saiga M model 7.62) which is the one with the longer barrel and the all wood thumbhole stock. Has anyone done a conversion on this one? If so, can you please describe your process and the products used? This model already has the FCG in the foward position, up against the mag. Thanks, jcs44

You might try looking at AuctionArms.com and GunBroker.com. I've just seen x 39 there for $0.25/rd from some sellers. JCS44

Classic Arms has .223 and 7.62 in stock. Under $400 jcs44

I have a couple of Yugo SKS model 59/66. They're nice to shoot and the action is quite similar to the AK/Saiga. You can get a nice one with matching numbers and pretty much unused for around $200. Try Classic Arms or AIM. If you want a cheap bolt action, you can pick up a nice Russian Mosin Nagant 91/30 for under a hundred bucks in 7.62 x 54. A better choice is the Model 91/59 with a shorter barrel for around $150. x 54 ammo is plentiful. The better ones come from the Tula arsenal. jcs44

Does anyone know which Tapco FCG is correct for the Saiga M? Thanks, jcs44

Saiga M with wood thumbhole stock has the trigger forward from the factory. Is there any benefit to replacing the stock FCG? jcs44
-
Yes, I have one in 7.62. Bought it because I was not looking to convert and I liked the wood stock and longer barrel. It's pretty nice to shoot although it hasn't been out that much. I've got a MOJO rear that's not yet installed. The trigger didn't seem all that bad, but I'm wondering if a Tapco FCG would be that much better. JCS44

RAAC may just replace it for you. Send them an email.

Classic Arms has Saiga .308's and 12 g. in stock for $549 and $599. I bought my 7.62 Saiga M from them and they're good people. JCS44

What scopes are you guys using? I have the same mount. Thanks, jcs44

Thanks guys, Gotta get that Mojo in there. jcs44

Hey folks, What's the trick/right way to remove the rear sight leaf? I want to install a Mojo and I don't want to break anything either. Thanks, JCS44 Saiga M, 7.62

Hey I'm bad with pics, but you can google the Saiga M and see that its identical to one of the above posts. There's no flash hider and the muzzle has no threads, so based on these postsI think I'm at 14-3 (Surfire Mag)=11, so I still need to do something for compliance. As I said, I really like the wood, so that sort of leaves the FCG. This stock FCG in this rifle does not have any trigger slap. This trigger has some minor take up and then releases pretty lightly - my opinion. Many thanks, jcs44

Thanks for the input folks. This Saiga M I have looks just like the .308 version, but in 7.62 x 39. I got this one from Classic Arms for $399. I believe it is very similar to the VEPR if not the same. As for conversion, I really like the wood furniture and thumbhole. It just feels good. So assuming I keep the stock as is, the only thing to change out to keep the parts count US is the FCG if I want to use hi-cap mags. I've only shot this one a few times and I did not notice the trigger 'slap' you guys refer to. Can someone describe it please? Regarding the Tapco G2 FCG, I see it as

Great job! You've made this look easy.

I'm another newby with a Saiga. I bought the Saiga M version in 7.62. I really like the thumbhole stock and on this version the trigger group is already in the forward position. Should I still be changing out the FCG for a better feel? I guess I need to do something if I want to use a 30 rd mag and still be 'legal". Thanks, JCS44

It sounds like all they do at the factory is lock the thing in a vise and fire a few rounds and then measure the group. Aim point probably has nothing to do with it. My paper said 94mm which is 3.7 in. If that's at 100 meters, it ain't bad. jcs44

I had an NC star illuminated with sniper reticle. It was nice, did the job and cheap. All I've ever heard about NC Star is that they're pure junk. What info am I missing? How about Simmons? jcs44
