  1. Is the oral review held by a civilian member board, departmental board or a hybrid? I guess it really doesn't matter. This is a review process which is replete with arbitrary and capricious decisions. There is no magic answer to your question. Answer honestly and do not try to fit into the law enforcement organization...make sure the agency fits you. You cannot live a lie without becoming disgusted. Unfortunately politics will influence the direction individual law enforcement agencies travel. Politicians choose the administrators and the law has many interperations. Talk to any experienced LE
  2. Shandlanos...I'm actually glad to see you have a grasp of the principles defining division of power which resides in our government. There are so many on these internet firearm forums who do not. The BATFE is simply an enforcement arm of our Government as you state. While BobAsh may not be qualified to offer advice in a legal sense I do think he means well. He is simply trying to warn others about a situation which could cause them a great deal of difficulty absent this discussion. While the leglislative branch does indeed write the laws and the executive branch administrates the enforcement o
  3. I can certainly stand on my head Paulyski. Now doing it on a wobbly computer chair is another story. And even I will admit flipping one of the great pyramids is a bit beyond my capabilities but military pressing my own weight is rather easy for me...which is about 270lbs at this moment.
  4. I keep falling out of my computer chair trying to stand on my head and read the upside posts!
  5. Like many things about the law these "stings" are controversial. The standard is if a person is predisposed to commit the crime. The courts have sliced and diced the "predispoition" and "entrapment" standards for years. It is a fine line. And the legal definitions will be forever argued. +1 on the 12GA slug up their ass! And what the hell is causing this IPS Driver error message? It just started for me a couple of days ago.
  6. I really expect federal firearm laws to be much more strictly enforced with this administration. It is already happening and will continue to tighten. I would strongly encourage everyone to educate themselves on current laws. And I have to ask this...camon, what exactly about MSNBC's "to catch a predator" do you find disturbing? I think what they do is great. I hate sexual predators. Every one of those perverts featured on the show displayed a predisposition to commit the crime. I can understand disagreeing with the application of law regarding "stings" but I sure hope you do not advocate
  7. I just visited my local gun shop today and the owner showed me a "cash for clunkers" sponsored by Sig Arms for older firearms. As long as the firearm functioned (fired) they would allow $200.00 toward the purchase of a new Sig. I did not read all the fine print and I do not know exactly how it works. Then again, the gun shop owner is good about pulling fast ones. He would of had to have made a webpage though. I wonder how long it will take for the federal government to institute a program like this for firearms? Nothing would make the gun grabbers happier than use tax monies to buy and destroy
  8. IIRC America spent billions developing the "Gadget" only to have a Russian spy/collaborator steal much of the technology from the manhattan project. This saved Russia years and billions of dollar which they would have had to spend. So lets start adjusting that amount into todays dollars plus interest and they can reinburse Uncle Sam for a start.
  9. I saved the picture you posted Camon! Politics should be added as a definition of hypocrisy in the dictionary. To survive in politics you have to "gang up" just like the crips and the bloods. Individual thought ceases to exist for the most part. A politician has to represent what his gang affiliation "political party" tells him/her. If a politician gets out of line they get beat down. If this politician really has a voting record of anti-firearm legislation then he has one rather large smelly shit sandwich to chew on! There is no honor amongst thieves or politicians.
  10. Looks like I won't be going to Greensboro NC after all Warrior Judge. The wife is flying out of Indianapolis alone tomorrow morning and I did not have enough time to find a homesitter for the kids. I'm Mr. Mom all next week. And we are not going at all next month. I think it had something to do with this "cash for clunker" program being much more popular than the government thought. Uncle Sam did not have enough people trained to handle all the claims which has flooded them. Apparently it has been dumped on the IRS and 400 seasonal workers have been called up and have to be instructed how to p
  11. Damn Paulyski...Neo-Nazis really idolize Thor as some spiritual guide. I don't get the connection with Norse Mythology and the brutal murders the Nazis practiced. Nonetheless, my avatar is Thor and I am not a practicing Neo-Nazi! Just on a side note...All the various mythologies, Greek, Roman, Egyptian. Norse, Mayan, Chinese, and on and on and on, were all religions which eventually died out. Or at least they are not as popular today. Many were practiced longer than Christianity. And these religions were believed as fervently as the more modern religions. We look back on those worshippers
  12. Well naveed...it appears Fox News was right on this one and you and Bvamp have to eat some humble pie. The United Nation puts the number of Honor Killings at an estimated 5000 a year world wide. You both need to man-up and send Fox News your apologies. Looks like Megyn Kelly had her facts right. I'm the one who was wrong by indicating I thought Megyn had stated 5,000 Honor Killings in America instead of worldwide! The truth is I do agree with both you and Bvamp on truthful reporting. All of the networks now seem to pander to one political party or another. A lot of spin and half truths.
  13. Well, Dude, What is wrong with watching Fox News and commenting on it? Why should I "beware"? And why are you begging so hard to have this thread locked or sent to fight club? I haven't seen anything on this thread even close to a fight. If the topic or comments contributed to this thread upset you so much why don't you just not read them? I'm serious. The other members along with myself are having a discussion and I do not see why it should be squelched when all you have to do is simply not click on the thread.
  14. I heard on Fox News today that there are 5,000 honor killings in America each year. I wonder if that was a misquote? The number seems awfully high. Perhaps I heard wrong. Maybe Megyn Kelly meant world wide? Regardless, I hope the young woman does not have to be returned to her parents if she is that frightened. Honor Killing...that makes about as much sense as ethnic cleansing. Just murder by another name. I've always thought religion, or lack thereof, is a personal thing. One should not be scorned for their choice. Why should a person even have to disclose their preference or explain the
  15. I detest senseless killing Paulyski. Whether it was yesterday or a thousand years ago. And that includes any guise it was/is cloaked in. Religion, government, the escuses really do not matter to me. I have absolutely no problem with capital punishment as long as the right individual pays the price and the cause is justified. I have no problem with a country going to war as long as the true reasons are told to it's citizens and they agree with the war. As for the nexus between naziism and christianity. Senseless killing is senseless killing. Dice it up however you want. I have made up my mi
  16. This is why America is suppose to have separation of church and state. So religion does not become the government. The Roman Catholics did a pretty good job of murdering tens of thousands during the inquisition. And some forms of government is no better than religious rule. The Nazis did as good of job as the Inquisitors at killing those they deemed unfit for varying convoluted reasons. As much as it is denied mankind, as a species, is a very dangerous animal IMHO! When we do not get our way we argue, fight, and kill each other (war).
  17. While I wanted to buy a new Hemi Challenger I gave in to the wife and bought the Camaro instead. However, I did vote my heart on this poll and cast it for the Dodge Challenger. Because that is what I wanted to buy. And I stated I liked all all of the three vehicles mentioned in the poll because thats the truth. Well god must have rewarded me today for being honest and not badmouthing the other vehicles out of pettiness. I was at Westport Chrysler Dodge today located in Westport, Illinois when a friend of mine pulled in with his new car. It was a Dodge SRT8 Challenger with the 6.1 Hemi tha
  18. Yeah! When it comes to murder, torture, and all around mayhem it's hard to beat the Bible. Scary stuff! Stephen King has nothing on the guys who contributed to that book.
  19. Sly...your comments are quite kind compared to what my "friends" say to me when I poke fun at their Harleys.
  20. My determination is based on observation...reality. Too many idiots on the road. And Herger the Joyous never saw a motorcycle because he never existed. Big difference between fiction and reality! I heard the book and the movie both sucked. Motorcycles are fun and I used ride on country and trails. I sold my last dirt bike 3 years ago. I just made the personal choice not to ride in town or on highways anymore. I do not have enough fingers and toes to count how many of my friends have been injured or killed on motorcycles. And I'm not insulting anyone who chooses to ride them in town. L
  21. I thought that was funny RalphXL! I hate traffic. Glad I live in a small town.
  22. Motorcycles are way too dangerous in my opinion. A minor accident in a vehicle can easily be a major accident on a bike. And I do not allow my kids on them. Seen too many deaths and injured people. Even the guys who think they are expert riders, which 90% are not even close, are at the mercy of the other driver. Motorcycle V car = a trip to the hospital if the motorcyclist is lucky. A lot of my friends have Harleys. I tell them they should not be allowed on the road. I can always see the oil trail they leave behind on the roadway. Not to mention all the nuts and bolts that rattle off of t
  23. That is funny you should mention Buick. Of all the different muscle cars which went through the family business over the last several decades my father took a 1970 455 Stage #1 Buick in on trade. This was around 1978 or 79. My father said it was the fastest car he had ever driven. My Uncle, who was a co-owner, bought all the old muscle cars he could at the southern Indiana auctions. I remember the business having big block Vettes, Chevelles, Camaros. Olds 442s and GTOs. Mopars out the ass, along with Mustangs, A yellow 429 Super Cobra Jet Torino which was a particular monster. But my father wo
  24. We will be arriving on the 23rd. I stayed at the Residence Inn last time. The back of the business bordered a highway IIRC. There was a great "greasy spoon" hamburger joint I remember eating at not far away. I do not remember the name of the place but I know how to get back there. Yum! As far as Cobra and shooting guns. I do not think he cares for me much...I could be the one getting shot! Us guys and testosterone! I'm not sure where I'll be staying at this moment. Some glitch in the plans about guaranteed secure conference room. I certainly seen nothing secure about the Residence Inn
  25. WarriorJudge...I live in Vincennes, Indiana. My family has been in the car business since the 40's. And your Mercedes is sweet. It's simply a better engineered vehicle than domestic products IMHO. And the cost of maintenance is not only extreme but approved qualified service is only available in large municipalities. Distinction has it's price. My brother-in-law had a Ferrari. Cincinnati was the closest repair/maintenance service location available for him. It was about a 4 hour drive one way. He traded the Ferrari for a Dodge Viper. The Camaro is in my wife's name. I think she said it was abo
