  1. I think I've read that trilogy probably 4 times. I am by no means an expert. However, while I did notice differences and omissions in the movies, I didn't think they were too bad. Apparently you do. Could you comment on what upset you so? It also helps to read Tolkien's own extended universe material if you haven't. He made some huge canon breaches (elves at the Hornburg) and ruined pretty much every single character in various ways. He also turned the Dead Men into a Deus Ex Machina, which is bad story telling no matter how you look at it. He did make some good and/or nece
  2. I always laugh every time I see a sasquatch vid, because my dad walks exactly like that.
  3. Last I heard, he was still locked up at the Federal Prisoner Hospital down the road. And according to wiki, still is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Medical_Center_for_Federal_Prisoners
  4. This one is too over the top for even me. If it actually causes competition for the KSG, then that'll be fine, but they're coming in pretty steep at $1200. Walked into a "local" gun shop and they had stuff like the MKA (was very hard to walk out of there without it), M1 Super 90, 930, etc...and I'd much rather have any of those for a lot less money.
  5. No clue what I fired first. First gun that I ever purchased was my Saiga 12. True dedication.
  6. semi-automatic rifle in civilian hands: assault weapon fully-automatic rifle in law enforcement hands: service rifle
  7. I think I collect hobbies. Current main interest is 1:18 diecast I guess. Also picked up Warhammer 40k, but can't really count it as a hobby until I actually make progress on my models.
  8. Never had any interest in muzzleloaders, but after watching all of the Sharpe's series, I'm pretty much convinced that I have to have a Baker rifle...maybe even a Nock gun. If not that, then probably an akdal.
  9. Not even close. If we're going to draw parallels to that war, then look at how the Japanese fought (killing thousands of Americans in a sneak attack against the US and frequent suicide bombing...hmm now THAT sounds familiar), and the attitudes of Americans towards them and towards those of Japanese descent living in the US (non-extremists in the case of Muslims).
  10. Yeah, as already explained, eye dominance is the biggest factor with long guns. An easy way to tell is just watch 'em and see which eye they're trying to aim with. I'm left-handed, but right-eyed...I've always shot right-handed (rifles) and it just feels natural. With handguns I can't help but use my left hand...in which case you do need to mind the brass. Haven't had too many problems, but my dad's P22 kicks 'em straight back...not fun catching hot brass with your neck while wearing multiple layers of clothing lol
  11. My dad is a land surveyor, and I work for him. Tolerate/Hate it...would do something else, but haven't figured out what yet. The pay sucks, and with this economy the pay is nonexistent. A lot of outfits have shut down, especially if they relied on subdivision work. A lot of companies that ran several crews are now down to just a couple guys working out of their house. We don't often work there (2 hours away), but we have had some jobs in Joplin in the aftermath of the tornado. Did some cell towers and a church right across from the high school. Going to do a couple lot surveys there tomorr
  12. Know a guy who had a property that he'd let truckers use as a place to pull off the road and get some sleep. The neighbors complained about the noise (even though they're right next to a highway and the road noise is worse) and got it shut down. There were just a few problems, though. The place was being used by trucks before they moved there, and the land that they lived on was purchased from this guy. Land that they still owed money on, because he'd tried to help them and had been generous regarding their finances. So he required the debt be paid immediately. He tore down his fence and
