  1. 2 things: 1) SKS Madman: Chill out man. If pistonring wants to spruce up his gun, then he has every right to do it. It was his money, it's now his gun. Besides, do you think for a second the swiss wouldn't have done it if they had the same technology available? Speaking for myself and others I'm guessing: I don't buy guns as investments, the stockmarket gets much better returns. A $950 ROI is a rarity in any investment, and it rarely if ever happens in guns. Guns are tools, designed to kill something (paper, people, deer, stress, whatever). If adding a bipod and a scope makes
  2. The bolt, carrier, and both op-rods seems to move smoothly. Everything on the rifle looks good, except for the heavily pitted gas switch and the dark bore. Looks like it was fed a pretty steady diet of corrosive ammo during it's service life. I've been trying to track down a new gas switch, but have come up empty. Numrich says they are out and I haven't found anything else online. Any ideas on where to find one of these things? I hate to give up over a $10 part, but I'm starting to get annoyed. Edit: Oh and GOB, I did test for the sticky firing pin, after I took the bolt apart, h
  3. All of the rods move freely. If I set it to grenade, the round will fire, and I can eject it by pulling on the bolt. Brass flies as expected. If I set it to semi-auto, she'll fire, then the bolt will lock up somethin' fierce. Like I said above, I have to put the butt on the ground, then kick the damn thing open. Anybody know where to get a new gas valve? Numrich says they're sold out.
  4. First time I took my (bone stock) 20 out, I was getting FTEs about every other round. Between the then and the next time I took it out, I cleaned it more than I've ever cleaned a shotgun and locked the bolt carrier back for the rest of the week. The second time I used some high velocity Winchester AAHS target loads and had 1 FTE all day (150+ rounds). The sad thing is, after converting the thing, I haven't had a chance to shoot the damn thing. Keep working with it Cobra, she'll get better eventually.
  5. Ya know... /begin bad idea Using some disitegrating links, and a modified magwell/reciever, that might not be too bad...... /end bad idea Nothing to see here, move along.
  6. So I went out and bought a Yugo M59/66 at the gun show. $109 sounded like a good price at the time. Detail stripped it, cleaned with CLP and WD40, and took the thing out to shoot over the weekend: *pull trigger, BANG* Sweet, blew up a milk jug! Die milk jug DIE! *pull trigger, nothing* What the hell? *yank on the bolt* Why the F#$@ isn't this bolt moving? *dump magazine, put butt of rifle on the ground, kick bolt open* Huh... Musta been a fluke *load 2 rounds in magazine, pull bolt, aim, BANG* Kick ass, another dead milk jug! Hey waittaminute... it's locked up again *Lather, ri
  7. I'm not entirely sure what point you are trying to make here... You sure do set up your credintials as career military, then say: Military pay is a disgrace, and that only poor people are joining, but we need to draft everybody? Do you understand the idea of an all volunteer force? You then go on to call Iraq a modern Vietnam (my words), except "ones jungle and ones sand." I really like to attempt to get a bead on what somebody is thinking before I respond to their posts, but the only thing I'm getting from you is a headache. You start out asking what would other fathers do if the
  8. From what I'm hearing, this feel good ordanance isn't going to last long. State law preempts local laws, and the PRK currently doesn't allow for a handgun ban. Expect this to last just as long as it takes for somebody to walk over to a court house and file a lawsuit. As I've heard on the net, even the GFWs in the PRK have an interest in getting this thrown out. Think about it: if San Fran can ban handguns in defiance of state law, what's to stop some of the more conservative areas from "repealing" the state AWB? And that doesn't even begin to address the Seizure of Property (without
  9. $1 says violent crime skyrockets within the next year, and the San Fransissies blame it on guns from the rest of the state.
  10. What kind, 2 3/4 or 3? If 2 3/4, I'll take 'em.
  11. Just to stir the pot a little... IMHO, it sounds like Treason is looking for somebody to oppress him. He sounds like the people you find online swearing they saw black helicopters take their friend away, or that guy at the "peace rally" that got arrested for speaking against the government, when in reality, they both got shuttled off for robbing a gas station or assaulting a cop or throwing a brick through a window. As I'm still in college, I meet people like this at least every few days. It was comical for a moment, now it's pathetic. Another explanation might be that lovely psyco/
  12. Supposedly Kimber does something similar. The Kimber 1911s are supposed to come with the brass from a test fired round (unless you live in NY or MD).
  13. And there in lies the problem. I need a job to feed my addiction.
  14. Here's an idea, lets use Mexico's internal immigration policies on THEIR nationals in OUR country. It's only fair, right? Read Yeah I know it's long, but if my publicly edjumacated ass can read through it, you can too. And before I see anything about being "anti-immigration", shove it. I have no problem with people entering this country legally. I do have a problem with countries encouraging their nationals to leave and cross our border illegaly so that they don't have to fix the problems in the originating country.
  15. |sarcasm| But but but... She is a LIBERAL!!!111oneoneone Anybody that disagrees with her hates women!!!111oneoneone |/sarcasm| I'm sorry... what?
  16. I don't believe in the one stop shot. Never have. I've seen too many reports, heard too many stories of a cracked up psyco taking 20+ rounds of 9mm, 38 Special, 45ACP, and other such fun rounds to several vital areas of the body to ever believe that a single shot from a handgun could take a bad guy down if he is intent on doing me harm. And catsworld, yeah she is beautiful, sans those front serations of the slide. Those have just never looked right to me (even on my Kimber). Oh, and I want those grips.
  17. Wolverine: Link I'm in love with this thing (in 40S&W). Now I just need ~$800 to drop on my Saint Browning of Blessed Whoopass addiction I know it isn't 45ACP (or even JMB's original design), but I'm betting 40S&W in a steel framed gun would be much tamer and still have quite a bit of punch to it.

So, any bets on when we are going to see 24" s12s (threaded barrel maybe?) in country? I might have to spring for one of those and a couple of 2 and 5 round mags.
  19. That's the basic idea, if somebody is coming at me I want to knock them over with a 2x4, not repeatedly poke them with a pointy stick. A large caliber hardball or HP at a moderate to high velocity is going to register, even with body armor. Besides, if they are armored up, you can always dump a couple of rounds into the chest area to shake 'em up, then shoot 'em in the pelvic area. It's hard to armor that part of the body, and it's hard to walk with a large caliber round rattling around in there.
  20. You do realize that the real armor piercing ammo (the SS190 IIRC) is not available to the general public. If I'm remembering correctly, supposedly the only stuff us normal people can buy is either the training ammo for the P90, or the ss192 hollow point stuff.
  21. A glock 22 in 40 is a pretty decent weapon. The kick is a lot sharper than 45ACP in a 1911, but it's pretty controllable. I haven't shot more than 20 or 30 rounds in a practice session (friends gun, we trade ammo and gun time), and the first time I did it my wrist was pretty sore. Right now, my personal dream handgun is a Browning Hi-Power in 40S&W or another 1911 in 38 Super. I'll admit that I'm a full bore disciple of the Church of Saint Browning of Handheld Lead Slinging, so I've kinda limited myself, but what the hell.
  22. I've seen toy guns that look more realistic than that (even with the orange thing on the barrel). As far as the 5.7 round... It looks like it'll make a decent SMG round, and I'm sure it'll throw lead down range out of a pistol (and that 20 round magazine means the EU cops will have to practice even less ) Personally, if I am forced to draw and shoot, I'd rather them fall from the force of impact after getting smacked with a couple 160+ grain less than high velocity can's-o-whoopass than have them bleed out from 20 .22 caliber holes. Shock value counts a lot, and a 230 grain hardball
  23. If you want to stay true to JMB, you could always look up a Hi-Power or clone. edit: And from what I understand, if you want a Springfield XD, grab the 40. You can always get aftermarket barrels for 357SIG and 9mm later.
