  1. Thanks for giving it a good home. It was born to be shot, and it loves to shoot, so everyone wins.
  2. The 12ga kick will more than likely knock your zero off...you'd have to have a VERY tight fitting dust cover, and even that would be suspect.
  3. Nice job Tony! I talked to Tom Cole about his and you're not kidding when you say "rifle parts will not drop in". Often times it's just a question of an automatic sear, but from my understand you have to completely rebuild the internals. I don't want you to get into the "how to" either but I did want to say awesome work! What's it feeding? How's the kick?
  4. Oh boy...another one of these discussions. There's a bunch of options (kinda). There are things like the gunner's choice with the ported compensator that threads on over choke tubes; there's briley's compensated choke tubes; there's even extended ported choke tubes. As for an actual muzzle brake + choke combo there is not one readily available. Search the old posts for "muzzle break" and see what you come up with to learn more. Basically, if you use a generic fit screw on compensator you'll lose most of the efficiency of it by changing choke tubes. For a brake to be effective i
  5. Honestly, your's is one of my favorite conversations. I have to go hats off to the original pioneers that turned their shotties into AK replicants (Cobra, Dinzag, etc) but your's is one of the most innovative designs on a model that's been around long enough for a good bit of innovation already so I'm impresed you still came up with something so new and awesome. I hate to imagine the amount of time it took...do you have a machine shop for all that milling? Anyway, nice job man! Keep us posted...
  6. Holy shit that looks awesome! I've not seen one of those before. Nice job!!! What's that light mount? I want one of those!
  7. Where are you coming from Glock? I might make the trek from Chapel Hill NC. You're welcome to hop along with me if I'm able to attend. Though you may find it sketchy riding with a total stranger where all you know is that I'm gun crazy, armed, and capable...but it's something to consider.
  8. Look into the Millenium Pro by Taurus, look into Kahrs, and tho I hate to say it, look into Glocks. A bit more money but you'll be glad you spent it when you have a gun you're happy with forever. looks like i'm going to get stuck with a "block" gun but if it gets the job done 110% of the time i don't have to worry about what it looks like What's a "block" gun?
  9. Ummm... You just got the thing eating all ammo and you're gonna chop the barrel even more? Be careful going shorter than 15". Mine's at 16.5" and it's cycling on all loads but you've probably read what was needed for it to eat anything. If you go any shorter you will need to open up a fourth hole, but I don't know how short that will work for. I'd be confident that with another hole you could go to 15" and still cycle cheapies, but much beyond that and it may limit what type of ammo it'll eat. But nice job getting it reliable! I wanna see!!!!
  10. I want to be there, but I don't think I can make it. Win it for Team Saiga this month and I'll take for Team Saiga the next match!

  12. I didn't see you otherwise it would've been 3 members. Thanks for making this thread; I didn't know the gunshow was today and almost missed it! Thankfully I saw this post at 11:30, got to the show by 12:30, and didn't leave until 3:30. It was a successful day too!!! I saw the Saigas ($799 for a simple S12 conversion and $279 for 7.39 16" unconverted), but I didn't buy anything. I did get the information I needed to decide on my next two pistols though! I'll be getting the Sig P226 for my competition gun and a Kahr PM9 for my CCW. I also got some conversion pieces for my upcoming S
  13. There's two possibilities... 1) it's a 12c 2) it's a tromix conversion already and they're claiming that Tromix is a factory If it's the 12c then it's more a collectors item than anything else and that's why it's so costly. You'll get an awesome gun for less money buy using Tromix, but you won't get a collectors item. That being said, if you get a collectors item you might want to baby the gun and not shoot it, so unless you really want a unique, rare gun I'd suggest sending a basic one to Tony Rumore at Tromix
  14. Well if you picked up a "mis-matched" bulgarian 74M kit from ORF you could scavenge the stock and small parts for your 12. Then rob the barrel parts to do up a Saiga .223 up right:D Work will be required to make the 74M parts work with the 12. My old Saiga 12 had the AK 74 bulgy folder on it...before you buy any parts I'd suggest you find someone willing to do the conversion. It's a BITCH! The amount of work required is intense. It's doable, but so time-consuming that most places will refuse to take on the project. That being said, for much less money, time, and difficulty you could
  15. have you tried http://www.rusmilitary.com/html/c-deact_magazines.htm? you can also make some frankenmags
  16. Can you push an AR back to 600yrds effectively? I know they'll go out there, but a .223 is a light bullet...Maybe I'm just not a good enough shot, or maybe my 14.5" barrel isn't quite the best choice, but DANG! That's a helluva long one for me and my dinky AR.
  17. OMG "priceless" indeed. that thing is damn sexy
  18. Looks like a fairly dead target to me. Are high cap magazines available for the CZ? And what caliber is it available in?
  19. Looks good! Is it cycling pretty much anything you feed it? And what kind of recoil pad is that? It makes the stock look a bit beefier, which is definately a good thing...I might want it on my S20. Also, what exactly were you using for your gun rest in the picture of the muzzle brake? Something you fabbed? Looks like a nice alternative to spending $50-100 for a gunsmith vice that I might be interested in.
  20. It's basically a remington 870 without a stock, so they're good besides the negatives you listed. C-Mores new system, the XM26 LSS may be its replacement and is even sweeter, though even more awkward. Anyone else see a Saiga 5-rounder in there?
  21. Well... I decided against the Colorado. I was looking into a new one, but that was a lot of money for something that drops $5k as soon as you take it off the lot. Also, the I-5 hasn't yet been tried and true, I've been reading about some issues that it's had so I'm going to stay away from it and look towards the used car realm. Right now the Ford Ranger is looking like the best bet. While I was trying to stay with the smaller engines (5 or 4 cylinder) the Ranger seems to get surprisingly good mileage for a 3.0L 6-cylinder. With a little bit of tweaking (air intake, new headers, new
  22. So how come when Superman (substitute the Hulk, etc.) throws cars he isn't thrown backwards faster than the car he just tossed?
  23. I've been working on something similar but was also waiting until the domestic magazines were produced to ensure they'd work with the mag-well (though front lip would need be sanded off). I just got a muzzle break priced today and HOLY CRAP!!!! $250 is cheap for a custom machined part, much less the to pay for the time and labor in designing, manufacturing, and testing. I'll keep my design on the back burner but at $250 if it works I'll take one of yours...my current design would probably cost upwards of $500.
