  1. Also check into ways of reducing recoil. The best way is to use a buffer (blackjack works great), but some kind of compensator helps and a buttpad helps. Just to see what it's like I've shot my 12ga one handed with a slug. I'm not gonna say it was pretty, but due to the weight of the gun, compensator, and buffer I could deal with it and would not be terrified to do it again. I'd not suggest one handed shots, but it's doable. I just can't wait til I have my S20 done...can we say two fisting saigas? Recoil from the shoulder is fairly light since it is gas assist semi-auto. The
  2. I'll second that the Hakko is a really good knockoff and affordable.
  3. I noticed there's not cheek pad on that puppy...can the optic still be used reliably? Did you have to seriously modify your head stance?
  4. Does the 20ga cycle well? Cobra and I are both having issues with reliable cycling from ours with light loads, I was curious if you ran into this problem and how you tackled it...btw, hot guns!
  5. Wow...sounds like a pain. Sounds like you've done a lot of spring work, but have you tried adding a gas port or enlarging the ones there? That seems to be the magic answer for the S12 from the readings I've done, but for some reason you've seemed hesitant to go this route. Keep up the good work and informative posts though, we all appreciate it!
  6. I've gotten groups touching each other at 25 yards with slugs out of my S12 18.5" standing with iron sights (they're not factory, but they're not super tricked out for accuracy either). With a bench rest, I imagine I'd just have one hole slightly larger than a 12ga diameter. I'm going back to the range next week to zero my optics with slugs, so I'll let you know what kind of groups i get then, but again it's only 25yards.

I'd listen to Eric (and have before) long before I listen to the mentioned JackF**k. Eric knows his stuff but doesn't make it obvious that he knows more than others. His confidence, knowledge, and modesty will take him farther in life than JackF**k ever could dream of. I'd not worry much about it. Just keep beating his ass in competition and he'll learn to keep to himself.
  8. Well it's about a 4 hour trek for me, so I'd not expect to get there until ~11 or later. What about Kmoore and RonSwin? What time do you think you guys might make it?
  9. I think the ATF purposely plans not to have strict rules because then they can declare anything they want illegal. However, it's a dangerous time for them to try to pull that...if Saiga's are declared DD it sounds like you can sell it, register it, or roll the dice. Now's the best time to roll the dice. If anyone gets arrested for a sporting shotgun like the Saiga I should think the case would take a fast-track strait to the supreme court where right now we have the best chance ever of making a very powerful statement since the conservatives once again dominate the bench. I hope it doesn't
  10. American cars over the past few years have risen in the ranks of reliability to be number 1 in most reports that I've read. Followed closely by Japanese, followed by European.
  11. You say you make a lot of other products...any for Saigas? If so, would you care to entice us a little with a description?
  12. This is going to sound REALLY stupid, but maybe it can save you some trouble and it's a quick experiment . Try adjusting the windage the other direction. Maybe somehow the knobs are all crossed or something crazy like that. However, if your factory sights aren't working well either I think it's something with the barrel and not the optic. Is there a choke on it? If that was installed at an angle, it might could mess up the point of impact. Let us know if you find a cheap laser boresighter, I wouldn't mind grabbin' one of them.
  13. This is may sound semi-racist when really it's just ignorant. Is there a way to tell the difference between chinese, panese, vietnames, korean, taiwanese, laotian, etc? And does one asian ethnicity really do more picture taking than another? Is it somehow incorperated into their culture? or does the tourist gene saturate their gene pool?
  14. Shoot, now I want one...I should give up on affording rent and just buy a big enough gun safe that I can live in it.
  15. Let's just all admit that there were some personal insults exchanged, apologize for them, and be sure that we don't purposely incite arguments with insults/etc. OR that we never abuse power as moderators, then drop this whole thing. Everyone has gotten to defend themselves, but now it's turning into a mudslingin' contest. Mistakes were made, lessons were learned (hopefully), and the Saiga-forum can return to discussion about weapons, civilized discussions about politics, and the exchange of useful information. But there's no point in looking for things to be upset about. What's done i
  16. I have to agree that making rules is restrictive and nearly impossible if you want to cover every possible violation. While rules are good, there will always be gray area, and that's where issues will arise and that's where things are learned. If all your life you stayed inside your personal comfort zones, you'd still be in a crib wearing a diaper. Why not use as a model the document that founded our entire lives: The US Constitution. This is a set of guidelines that provides the most fundamental rules, but leaves room for freedom and maneuverability. Free expression is clearly protect
  17. I feel like this is crossing a dangerous bridge, but I'm curious and I figure y'all will be educated enough to teach me, and hopefully gentle enough not to tear me up. All of these firearm restrictions seem very unconstitutional to me, however, to my knowledge there's never been a gun case tried at the level of the supreme court. I could be wrong here, so please inform me if I am and if you really want to receive some brownie points, can you please link to the cases and arguments? I'm going to law school next year and trying to decide between Constitutional Law and Patent Law. There's more
  18. High-rise Belarusus side-mount with ATN UltraSight. I wanted the optic closer to the barrel (low-rise), but I wanted to keep use of my normal sights too. I've heard optics just aren't that great for moving targets, and since Klaus likes to throw in some clays I figured I could just peak under the red-dot to go after them. I figure if I zero the optic at about 20 yards, with the spread of the shot and the 6moa dot I shouldn't be too far off from most targets and it will greatly speed my target acquisition. That and I'm going to start introducing new people to competition and I figure they'l
  19. I'll be there...with optics this time!
  20. From a non-glock owner, YES: they are that good. Glocks are the pistol equivalent of an AK. Most of my friends that own pistol, own a glock. I don't like them and have done my best to find fault in them, and EVERYONE I talk to say they are bulletproof. You can run them over with a tank, cryrogenically freeze them, throw them in burning oil, and they'll still be fine. I think they even shoot reliably underwater, though I'd not suggest it. Hell, you don't even have to clean it. Most ranges rent glocks more than any other gun because they are 1) SO reliable, 2) they don't need to be cleane
  21. She's pretty, but $3000? What possibly justifies that kind of money? I could see it in a nice sniper rifle, or some custom engraving on a franchi, but a pistol?
  22. Wait...I'm confused. I thought the match was 2 saturdays away, not this coming saturday. Let me know please, I gotta make the last match of the season.
  23. Can anyone explain to me what a rimless shell is? I understand the concept, but I've never seen them on the market...are they readily available, and how impressively expensive are they? Thanks
