Don't know that there is much you can do about the trigger. The FCG's can become unreliable if you mess with the actual hook, disconnector or hammer, and I am not aware of a sporter replacement FCG. I overhauled a stock factory gun a while back. I got rid of the axis pin retaining spring anchored by the the trigger group linkage pin. I riveted the triger group linkage pin back in place, and used e clips (2 per pin) to secure the axis pins. I hate to be a wet blanket, but most of the members here live outside of California, and can't advise you about making modifications to your gun within the law. Are you actually allowed to modify your own gun in California? I would first check on that, and then get specifics concerning what you may and may not legally do, and THEN post questions relating to the specific changes you want to make. JHMO WS

In the alternative you can jump through hoops to make your Saiga California legal.... until they pass yet another law requiring you to do something else to it, or they come and take it away from you altogether. Check to see if the disconnector is catching on the top edge of the hammer. Also, make sure there is no side to side play in your double hook trigger group. WS

New Mexico is short handed as it is, but there is now a hiring freeze. Our Governor did lay off 20% of his lackey political appointees instead of cutting law enforcement. I applaud him for that. Because the S12 is an AK, it's pretty forgiving about cleaning intervals. A good S12 will shoot as well dirty as it will clean. So, its really up to your individual preferences. I have put as many as 500 rounds a day for a couple of days in a row through one of my S12's before cleaning. Normally I will clean my guns weekly if they've been fired, but the number of rounds between cleanings can vary greatly. Slathering an S12 with lubricant will cause its internals to collect dirt and grime. I can't speak for others, but I run my guns dry with the exception of one drop of oil on each rail eve

Sorry to hear that. Overpriced, and overcrowded - not a good combination. I think under those circumstances, I might put an ad in the local paper appealing to farmers and vacant landowners in the area. You never know who's got a spot on their land where they like to shoot. After my local indoor range banned shotguns (S12's are apparently too scary looking, and upset casual target shooters), I mentioned it to a couple of folks, and got invited to shoot on their land whenever I wanted to. I'll bet if you let them shoot your S12 once in a while, you'll receive a standing invitation.
