  1. Love my Saiga!!! Dispatched one chicken with only one shot. Thanks to all for helping me with the sighting-in process. No recoil; using Fiochi 2-3/4 inch heavy field loads with #8 shot. My arms like the light weight of the weapon also. Much lighter than the ole Mossy. Walked for 3 hours in the hills and my back feels good. We have only 29 more days of chicken season, then a rest until pheasent and quail. I can hardly wait. Chicken gravy on biscuits tommorrow night!!!!
  2. Today is the first day of the walk-up praire chicken season here in Kansas. As soon as I finish this post, I'm heading for the hills with the Black Dragon and lots of ammo. Hope to scare some to death....
  3. Congratulations!1 Nice Bear. Couldn't see the rifle....but I'll bet it was fun.
  4. I can buy the Starfire at my local dealer. In fact, that's what I keep in my .357. Last time I bought some I think they were about $9.75 a box. I had some of the shotloads too, but couldn't figure a good use for them except for snake-killing. ( No offense Cobra) Can't help you with the price as I had traded some labor for them.... Hope this helps.
  5. I asked the same question a while back. I think the consensus was that it was a lot less hassel just to order them from acca47. Check the "For Sale of trade" threads, he is posted there several times.
  6. Thanks for sharing this link. I believe that this is what the framers of the constitution had in mind when they added the amendents. A real honest-to-God man.
  7. Nice shooting!!! Actually, I'm estatic if I hit 19/25.....
  8. I like Remoil during the seasons and Lucas ( yes the tranny oil guys as seen on NHRA meets) gun oil for storage.
  9. I'm so damned mad about the Louisiana Fiasco that I just really didn't trust myself to post anything about it until now. Am I suprised that the state and federal systems completely brioke down? No, for I used to work for the state and the department I worked for was ill-run, full of 'cronyism' and nepotism with its own agenda using 1940 management concepts. Therefore I've always suspected that the Feds were much the same, just on steriods. I was right. I too couldn't load the original post but did read the Boston artilce with great interest. I believe that Mr.Caralyn had the right ide

    Optics

Please enlighten me. Are the red-dot type optics an assit or deterance for hunting purposes. I fear that my eyes are not what they used to be ( and without my contacts they are BAD).
  11. Right on!! I remember going to a 'company trap shoot' just about the time the Bennallis came out. It was the most sought after shotgun at the time with prices at $800-$1200. AND EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM JAMMED. I was very proud of my old $200 Mossburg that day. I love the Saigas. Hard to beat a battletested action.....
  12. Beautiful rifle!!! I'm sorry my pitiful little computer can't download the video. I'm jealous.
  13. Though I don't have an eight rounder I discovered yesterday that I could load my five rounder without holding the bolt open. I was very pleased as most of the threads I'd read concerning this issue gravitated towards the open bolt method. Being right-brained I'm awkward enough. Good poll. And as you said, it will take practice. Eyeing my dust ridden reloaders after yesterday's sighting-in shooting spree. I just can't stop pulling the trigger....
  14. Hawk Welcome to the forum. A wealth of information and fun are to be had here. I just joined lately and believe me I've learned a lot. 1) Saigas are as addictive as nicotine and alcohol. 2) I get insanely jealous whenever I let some one else hold my .410. It's just too cool. 3) These guys are really patient and helpful with the newcomers. Enjoy you new weapon...............
  15. Z1500- Bless you and good luck! I was seriously considering other options but now I'll wait and watch. When you get'em going I'll take two.
  16. Thanks! Appreciate the info! I'll keep looking for mags then.....
  17. I had a buddy make a scout rifle out of an 6.5x55 Swede. He liked it alot. However I think one of the surplus 8 mm mausers would work well.
  18. Excuse my ignorance but could the 'lost wax' method of casting be utillized as opposed to injection molding?

    Slugfest

That's a fine looking weapon Topmaul. Congrats! Is Team Saiga planning on any trips west? I'd sure like to see a three gun shoot.
  20. Just a thought. I have a family member planning a trip to Russia. Can one buy mags over the counter in Russia and then ship them to the U.S.? Would these be restricted by the ATF?
  21. Do not despair Jeff Taylor!!!! I sat here one March day and watched the Saiga=12's dry up from CDNN. When I called my dealer he had also sold the S-12's so I bought his last .410 (which I love and is a the perfect pick-up gun.) I asked my dealer to quietly keep his eyes open for one. Watch the forum closely. I missed several opportunities by mere hours. I had inquired about one of the member's S-12's when my dealer called and he had one due to a divorce. As it was here in Ks. I bought it. Scour the pawn and small gunshops. I found a couple of .410's and a .20 the other day. When I
  22. Thanks. Got it to feed 3-3" shells. Looks as if the mag was overloaded at one time as the guides around the 4th shell seem to be rounded of a bit. Time for J-B weld or do I just find another mag? P.S. Have new tatoo on shoulder due to the 3"ers.
  23. Shame you have to sell it. I'm all tapped out after my S-12 purchase. It's a beauty!!!
  24. Beautiful weapon. But then I even like the stock version of the .410. In fact I notice that I kinda get jealous when anyone else holds her...........
  25. I tried to look but could not find any threads concerning adjusting the factory sights of the s-12. (Well, I got sidetracked on other threads.) Could I get some direction? I read the manual but quite frankly did not understand it. ivrfrkbrd
