  1. Any updates on the 10 rd."mags" from either builder/ testers?? It's difficult to wait w/NO info?
  2. I"VE GOT THE ANSWER.....!!!! Let's "give" Mr. Voight a "Saiga"... He is a top notch shooter no matter the gun... I'm sure he could kick butt with a "Saiga" instead of his Benelli? BUT, Let's give him someone else's "Saiga" as I want too keep mine? mikey1
  3. I think we are all waitin' on the S-12 mags. Make sure you have the BHOpen (see Jeric) It WILL help a lot!The local people in my area like to shoot "tactical" and I have not been any competition for them w/ the S-20, they are not impressed so far. (My skill level is lacking at this point).mikey1
  4. YEP, I posted the details...long ago. I prefer the red color. There are many different threads...you may need to have it tapped (gunsmith?) If you don't have a 5x40, 6x48 etc. tap. Local "Sportsmans" Wherehouse had them all in the shotgun accs. area. EZ job! mikey1
  5. Well, Whatever????.. AS of today...WHAT MAGAZINES???... I guess we are all a little "antzy"??The Saiga 12's are not of much use with out a few mags for some of us... POSTERS,your right about the EBAY postings, lots of times bidders pay more than they should for stuff. I'm sure we have all been waiting for these mags. (I'm sorry, but I will not send my C Card # to Russia)...(with Love???). LO, the day when we will have to make the decision...steel or plastic mags! WON'T THAT BE SOMETHING !! PVT PILE, your right, I'm not a "businessman", BUT I am a customer and expect fair treatment. I buy from
  6. Z1500.. When you do get the mags on the market?....HOPEFULLY you WON'T sell someone 200 mags...I can see the gouging that will transpire. You should be the one who profits from any sales... some kind of reasonible limit might serve you and the customers till the market gets saturated. My 02. mikey1
  7. WELL, here we go!!! I have not had a any problems with Tapco. I have the trigger groups, folding stock and adjustible butt stock(great... easily lets different sized people adjust the pull length). Even if you purchase a trigger group from someone else.... it's probalbly originally from "Tapco". I have built several AK's from their parts set and theirs are among the BEST. As you can see...lots of different opinions, BUT people are generally trying to HELP. mikey1
  8. If you don't want to spend the money???..... I've taken thin "flat stock" aluminum and "skate board " tape and made EAA grips.... lot's narrower and easy too do! mikey1
  9. If you go on.. http://www.gunsamerica.com/transfer.cgi (or just gunsamerica) you will find a list of dealers in your area. The owner can send a long gun directly to a FFL holder (I used FEDEX) for about $25.00. The simpilest way is to have your FFL holder send your certified funds US PRIORITY MAIL and a copy of his FFL to the owner, who then takes the copy of the FFL to FEDEX or UPS as they may want to see it(FEDEX did'nt as he was on their computer list). He should take some extra tape as they may want to see that the gun was not loaded. He should would call first too make sure he understands

    20 vs. 12

I think the S-20 will be great for competition. If your shooting USPSA you are o.k. as that is minimum gage as far as I know. #7 1/2 shot knocks down all the steel I have shot. EZ to make 10 round mags(dinzag post) Do the trigger group. I put the Tapco AR style stock on.(nice to have the adjust feature) Use the 20x70 mags(try TANTAL) for 2 3/4 " shells. Put in a BHOPEN(JERIC). Concider my post if you have "JAMS" w/low vel ammo. OF COURSE you can always have both the S-12 & S-20, as you can't have too many guns! Remember the built in sight rail, great for that red dot. mikey1
  11. Shaneman153a.... I took a pic but you really can't see the porting clearly. If you want I think I can post a discription of what needs to done... With measurements I used. Keep in mind some "dwell" time is needed so that the recoil gas can make the gun still function.(You don't want to drill too far to the rear either). I don't think 1/2" from the barrel end will help much. I used the "Briley" screw-in choke/comps on my Benelli Super 90, (was not impressed)(Sold the gun to buy a Saiga) The tool you want is a #3 centering drill (Brownells,pg. 166 or tool supply house) This gives a .107 " hole
  12. Nope different. See the "jeric" post... reply to me. You can copy his pic/buy one from him.. For simplicity, the shottie hooks on the rear of thebolt and the rifle is more to the middle...I've got both. sorry. Read his installation post..it's right on! mikey1
  13. RE, Barrel porting. This WORKS, "felt" recoil is reduced. I have a gunsmith friend who gave me his shotgun "formula". I shoot 2 .38 Super red dot "race guns" in competiton,(uspsa). Compensated guns like this all shoot in the "open" class were such modifications are permitted. (You have an advantage over non ported guns) Hot rod ammo is used(9mm x 115 grain bullet going about 1500 +, feet per second is the norm. (lots of "gas" too make the comp "work"). I have a S12 with 23 barrel "ports". I built the gun to shoot in 3 gun competition. When someone finally makes usa hi-cap mags, I will be ready

    Trigger guards

Simple solution.... Go buy some 1/2 " wide aluminum flat stock from Lowes/ Home Depot. It's soft enough that you can bend any shape you wish, BUT strong enough for a trigger guard... a little black paint and your done.(I have done it) Saiga K ..I hope you get well soon????mikey1
  15. Well, you have found the place!!! Don't slight the Saiga 20... It will do all you wish...maybe more? Put a few $$$ in the 20 BEFORE you get the s-12.. The 20 will change your mind? The worst problem for a competion shooter is the stock trigger group, BUT $35 cures that (TAPCO style)). You can file a slot on the safety/selector lever that functions as a Bolt Hold Open for FREE or use a $5 chain saw file. (RANGE GUYS will like you!). You can put on a day glo front sight for $5. A rubber butt pad is availible for $10 (Medium Slip on) $32 gives you a 10 round mag that WORKS!(dinzag). "Blakjack bu
  16. Gentlemen, see my post on s-20"jams". I think it has some merit for the s-12 problems also? For $5 what have you got to loose? Less recoil gas for low vel BUT same spring tension??? Trying too be helpful...mikey1
  17. As Stokstad said, pitch them. You will spend sooo much time polishing things....and then not really gain much.(i've done it). The "TAPCO" parts are sold by most everyone. I don't see much difference between the trigger pull one either the single hook style or the double hook style, just a little more filing to the receiver for the double hook. Convert , eliminate the "rocker" in the Saiga system. I have done and own a S20,S12,and S7.62 x39. Make sure you stay with the legal count to avoid any hassels from "Big" Bro.mikey1
  18. Check out my post "jams". The info my be of some interest to you.mikey 1
  19. Fellow Saiga12 owners...I don't feel the gas system is ALL the problem?...you might want too try this before drilling?... My S20 (see "jams" on the 20 site) WAS bad!!! on LOW VEL ammo... NOT ANY MORE. Simply sustitute a COLT .45 spring for the front Saiga spring (on a S12 a slightly heavyer spring, say 13#,14# may be better??). You will have $5 invested and no non reversible actions taken. I don't shoot my S12 much, ....AWATTING THE S12 MAG "GOD" TO APPEAR AND FEED THE HUNGRY!!!mikey1
  20. SaigaK.... This person?? has to be a silly person??? Lots of silly posts to obvious answered pre-posts. WHY bother??? The only answer is.... A good group of Saiga owners. I have rambled on a couple of times. BUT have "posted" only working solutions /or/ try-it's. All the "stuff" I have learned about the Saiga's has come from this site. I enjoy "tinkering" and will try to HELP. Wondering.... is this a child playing/ does/ this person OWN a Saiga... ??????mikey1
  21. SOLD. e-mail me your address. I will send US postal mo and e-mail the # to you when sent. mikey1
  22. "TANTAL", (DOUG FORD,TEXAS) HAD THE 20 MAGS. FAIR PRICE GOOD SERVICE! IF YOU WISH TO SHOOT 2 3/4" STUFF GET THE 20X70 MAGS. THE "DINZAG" POST FOR 10 ROUNDERS X $32 WORKS. THE "TRIGGER" CONVERSION GIVES A MUCH NICER PULL FOR LITTLE BUCKS...WELL WORTH THE MONEY...I THINK? I'VE BEEN USING THE TAPCO DOUBLE HOOK STYLE. THE BOLT HOLD OPEN IS A NICE FEATURE FOR COMPETITION (SEE "JERIC" POST) IF YOU HAVE WORKED ON AK'S ,PULLING THE GAS BLOCK OFF IS NO BIGGIE, SEE MY POST "JAMS". (GAS PORTS TO .086)BUT....GO BUY A $5 COLT.45 SPRING AND SHOOT THE CHEEPO STUFF, AGAIN.... I FEEL MOST JAMS ARE TOO MUCH RE
  23. UPS shipping of a "long-gun" was simple, as stated "had to ship" from a main hub not mom & pop store. I made the receiving party send a signed FFL so that I could show the UPS person BUT on their database the FFL bussiness address showed up and they did not even look at the signed FFL that I had in my possession. Their policy stated? that the package should be "opened" for inspection, but this was not done . They were more interested IF there was any "ammo" included. I believe FEDEX is the same. The cost was reasonable ($24) mikey1
