  1. Did you trim the stock any to fit or did you just drive it home. I would drive the stock backout and see if things fit without the stock in.
  2. If it is a German barrel it is chrome lined. Pop the gas tube off and there should be a German mark and serial number on the barrel.
  3. P.S. At least you got a chrome lined brake. I was not so lucky.
  4. Well, that sucks. I was hoping for better. If you don't want to sell it the rear sight cant can sometimes be easily fixed. In some cases the pins on the sight leaf are bent a little. This happens when they leave the factory. A new rear sight can sometimes fix it. The other options is to buy an adjustable RPK rear sight. If it's the rear block then thats trouble. I'd shoot it first to see for sure though. Whatever happens I hope you find the 74 you were meant to be with. RF
  5. Good luck brother. I sure hope it turns out alright. Do you think you can post some pics and give a small review when it comes in. The replacement rifle they sent me was actually pretty fine. I sure think it would be awesome if you shared the same luck. RF
  6. Nice. What mag is that you have there? Have you shot the rifle yet? Did you build it yourself or purchase the complete rifle? I like the look a lot.
  7. I am sure someone will chime in and correct me if I am wrong, but I would not follow the video instructions previously posted. The gas port should be drilled as a 45 degree angle like the rest of the ports from the factory. The correct way to do this is to remove the gas block completely. There are plenty of threads to explain how to do this. Drilling a straight hole like the one done in the video, will result in your gun fouling prematurely. It's your gun and you can decide how you want to go about opening the gas ports. The demonstration given in the video would be easier to do but it is
  8. I am truly sorry to hear you are going through this ordeal. I bought a Lancaster 74 from Atlantic Firearms last year. It was one of the rough riders with a out of spec barrel/gas port. I called them about it in June and they sent me a new rifle that has been pretty good. I believe I was one of the lucky ones. Please let us know what happens and if you get the rifle. I'd be interested to know what the quality of your rifle will be. As far as I am concerned, when they get a rifle wrong, they really get it wrong. When they get it right however, their rifles can be pretty decent. I also thi
  9. I would like to echo some of the previous comments. You sound well outfitted now. I don't see the 16 being that much more advantageous over your current weapons. If I might make a suggestion,(and I dont mean to sound like a person who suffers from paranoia) I would buy food storage over anymore weapons at this point. Not because the end of the world is starting next week, but because the price of food is steadily rising world wide. Just a thought. OK ya'll can call me crazy now.
  10. I have had the opportunity to shoot the 500 a lot. I love that gun. The one I shoot is the shortest version S&W make. It is completely tameable. The compensator really helps on those guns. I highly recommend them. Especially if u reload. Recoil is fun on that gun. Doesn't hurt , just fun. I think the rubber grip helps, so you don't get that snappy hurt in your hand. Edit: Just read what PSL wrote. +1 on what he said, I basically posted the same thing. Sorry.
  11. Having owned one, I would recommend you pass. I personally did not care for the gun at all. The gun functions fine, however the trigger is the most horrible trigger I have ever experienced. To say the trigger is heavy, would be an understatement. I hear there is a trick to fix it, but I don't know what that entails. I may have purchased a bad one, but I don't know. I was not able to be accurate with it due to this one thing. I am not the type that needs to have a match trigger, and I shoot a lot of double action pistols. I purchased the sigma 10years ago, and sold it the same week I bought i
  12. Pointdexters, POINTDEXTERS!!!! Whats up with that! Are you intentionally trying to take this thread to the fight club Mister?
  13. I know many will argue That AK will stand up to more abuse, however, those training weapons Ranger and other schools use are abused pretty bad. I've spent plenty of time training and conducting joint Airborne ops with the 6th Ranger Training Battalion here in FL. Those students could break a bowling ball! I'm sure they could do a number on any weapon. I know the S4 Officer out there who is in charge of the weapons and ammo issue. I'm sure he could dig up photos of M-240s, M-249s equally fuc ked up. +1, and we have all seen AKs that have had catastrophic failures. They are both
  14. I could be wrong but, I think the tang needs to be cut when installing the Tromix stock. If if that's the case , I think you would have to put another folder on. The Russian ones are not cheap. They require more Work than just bolting as you probably already know. I Have seen a triangular one that bolted on but again I think it used the tang. I would be interested in what others will have to say. Good luck, RF
  15. Happy to help. If you go to AR-15.com and click Ar-15 and then click Ar-15-piston I believe that there is a bunch of reviews there on the CMMG. In fact I checked this morning and the was a new post about someone experiencing problems with their kit. There's too many there to link. If that Osprey comes with the bolt carrier, then that's a SUPER Deal. Especially if its the new kits with the Fail Zero coating. Seriously once you run and own a piston a while you will change your mind about what the AR-15 is capable of. I treat mine like an AK or worse and the thing just wont be stopped. I ru
  16. BuffetDestroyer, I too own the Adams Arms Kit, and I never experienced carrier tilt. Like I stated before, the system just plain runs. I don't have to use a ton of lube and clean up is a snap. I run the kit hard and show no ill signs from doing so.
  17. Love my 74. Love my piston ar15. I trust both 100%. I treat the ar15 no better than the 74. I believe the piston platforms have come a long way since they first hit the scene. In my experience technology has made carrier tilt a non issue. I have had zero malfunctions of any kind. Now I do think that there are more parts on the 15, so I tend to like the 74 for simplicity. All I'm saying is the piston ARs are getting better each year. Don't discount them. I believe in piratical accuracy, but when I hunt or want to kill critters a believe in a different kind of accuracy. That's why I sti
  18. The osprey is a good deal. I assume it comes with the bolt carrier? I personally would avoid the CMMG kit. Just not as many good reviews as the Osprey. I run a Adams Arms kit and love it. If I weren't running the Adams kit , I would run the Osprey. I checked out kits a long time before I made my decision. Osprey was just coming out with their system when I made up my mind. They are good to go. Just make sure your gas port is not oversized. Hope this helps, RF
  19. Not to be rude or offensive, but I think if you used the search, you would find many answers to your questions. I have read some of your other post and these topics have been discussed many times. The search sometimes sucks, so if you don't find what you are looking for try Google. Anyway I am just trying to help. Instead of waiting for a reply you might get info quicker. Or you could start a new post and wait. Its up to you. Tromix makes good stuff, if installed proper the handle in question will be good to go. I am replying from my phone so I can't send a pic. Good luck, RF
  20. Good to hear Mr Davidson. Glad I waited on purchasing an after market Puck.
  21. Right on with ur new purchase! Mine needed to be broken in but ever since it been great. Had to Polish everything after my conversion but thats about it. Is ur gun a 3port ,4,2? Mines a 3 with 2 ports partially covered. Only thing it doesn't run is win. Cheap stuff. Temporarily fixed that with a lighter recoil spring. Shot every thing else fine from day one though.
  22. I have gotta agree with most folks here. Convert and Polish(or shoot the piss out of it). Use some heavier loads if u choose to break it in. Be patient with the s12. Once she starts running she'll be unstoppable. Congrats on the new s12. You know I've heard that the Benneli M4 doesn't like light loads much at first either. Also the FN SLP has to be switch from low brass to high just like the S12. Those are great shotties however they cost twice as much as the S12. The S12 is a hell of a deal. Keep trying and it soon will be shooting cheap crap. Don't give up. I love the cheap crap too
  23. Corbin thanks for the good info. Also I should have mentioned that my s12 is a 3 hole gun.
