SVD fixed butstock takeoff from IZL-447
ramlake replied to ramlake's topic in Unsorted Ads prior to November 2012 (WTS / WTT)
If I could change the title I would Maybe a mod can change to SVD fixed butstock takeoff from IZL-447 -
Looks Good! Did you use a steel insert? Are the forward walls in the three main chambers tapered / slanted?
-
Maybe not! Seriously wouldnt any ak type rail hand guard fit?? s12 handguards have much larger internal openings than standard AK Opening up wood furniture is hard enough but plastic, there's not enough material to allow a larger cavity without breaking thru the sides
-
Use both....just tap out the pin and replace!!
-
Yep makes a latch install even easier......DOUGH

Hard to beat the classic russian parts!! Russian all the way!

Very nice work Ray! You're an extremely talented guy, and if you're going to advertise here and offer your products and services here on the forum - whether you take a direct, or oblique approach really isn't important. It is time to pay the ticket and get business membership, brother. Time to step up. Mike I made this for myself I do not sell nor need to sell products on this forum I enjoy building saiga's and custom parts for myself that the vendors either won't or can't Why can't I just show my work without vendors getting jealous or vendictive? I guess now

Remove the upper cover and use a soft hammer if needed to slip retainer forward.

SVD fixed butstock takeoff from IZL-447
ramlake replied to ramlake's topic in Unsorted Ads prior to November 2012 (WTS / WTT)
Perhaps because they're advertised all over the Internet as a "SVD-type black polymer buttstock" ... The real question is why do you have to stomp on a guys for sale ad? The seller and buyer should both be accurately aware of what the item is. That's why I posted a picture Thanks -
Kinda like these?

Looks like instead of repairing the carrier he acually melted into the OP rod threads. Because the OP is threaded and peened in place it is still loose and can cantilever, putting stress on the weld. Who knows what rod he used. Looks like there's plenty of thread engagment like it is and probably will last a lifetime. Verticle crack looks like a shadow to me. -
similar? didn't know one existed except my own Yes that is a good idea....you are cleaver!! Thanks

Just recieved Legion IZL-447 saiga 12 gas system Something I find troubling....you can't adjust the gas plug without removing the handguards. Handguards are retained by a sloted screw. Handguards completly block the gas plug. More to come soon! My clone circa 2010 430mm barrel handbuilt top cover w/ rail AK RSB handbuilt handguard retainers handbuilt FST handbuilt muzzle brake / rem chock adapter owner fitted magwell / front latch / rear trunuin This new IZL-447 is going to be a breeze compared to my clone!

Bad Bob's parts oven
ramlake replied to Bad Bob's topic in Conversions and Modifications for the Saiga firearms
Mine too until I wraped it with a hotwater insulation kit, now 400c in about 10 minutes I cut adjustable vents in the top to adjust temp A big plus I believe is that the heat gun is UL listed for safety -
A solid surface and a small hand sledge hammer and they will form easily

I may have a lead on some tool steel latch assemblies. Since Samual organized a group buy for the muzzle brakes I wonder if I can work something out?
