I refinihed my s-12 tonight in the interest of finding an answer to a question. Duracoat will match the factory finish to the sheen, if you are good enough, you could mix up a batch to match the sheen even. Pics forthcoming.

Thank you for your reply guys, and the welcome. Now, as to the comment that it is too short; is that a restriction for importation, or too short in general? In other words, if I purchased this item, and then removed the muzzle device, would the gun then be illegal? Or, could I re-install a muzzle device of my choice (not soldered on) and be back in buisness? I seem to remember an 18 inch rule. Next question is the bolt hold-open. Is this an easy upgrade, like modifying the selector lever on an AK to hold the charging handle in place, or is it more complex than that? Should I just be buyin

I've been curious about that as well. I may get some to try with my paradox yet. I'll definitely post a range report.

Looking at the saiga 12 exp-01s-30 It appears as if the gas block is closer to a traditional ak design, with only the one pistion, furthermore the gas tube is removable, furthering the idea that my theory is correct. The question then is, why does the second gas piston exist on the currently imported models? What exactly is its purpose? EDIT-I posted this in the wrong forum, can someone please move it? Thanks

What I would be looking for in a saiga 12 tacvest MOLLE webbing, back and front. Nylon belt straps at the bottom. Drag Handle at least 4 MOLLE double mag carriers that would take 10&8 Rd mags for a total of 8+ mags. MOLLE CHOKE/BRAKE pouch holder is a fantastic Idea. You're hammer is not catching on your disconnector, plain and simple. The most prevalent cause of this is your hammer is installed wrong or backwards. Field strip your saiga and make sure that when the hammer is pushed back that the flat side on the ears are facing the top of the reciever (UP). don't polish anything at this time, unless its the mating surfaces of the Fire control group. another thing that could be happening here is your trigger is able to rotate too far forward and your hammer is just hitting the top of the disconnector. So if the saiga-12 does become classified DD, do the shells themselves also become dd's and there fore subject to a tax of 200 per shell? I read a little quip about that and am curious.
