  1. To tell the truth, I would realy like to see the whole 922r/Assault weapons importation ban of 1989 repealed. Why should these guns be banned from importation in thier proper configurations, when they were coming into the country that way, prior to the 1989 ban? I've said it before and I'll say it again. We have won every fight in court in recent times, simply because we had the will to do so. I believe we could do the same thing with this law and every other gun law, if we take it to court on constitutional principals. However, the most important thing is that we have the will to do so in the
  2. I like your post. If you think about it, thier argument over sporting pupose falls on its face, because everyone I know with a Saiga12, uses it in competition including myself. As far as the argument over high cap mags being unsuitable for anything but killing people, that's B.S as well. Every subgun/shotgun match I've ever taken part in, required multiple high cap mags in order to get through each corse. I used to run my Mossberg 590 untill I got a Saiga 12. The reason I got a Saiga 12 was because it held more rounds and had a detachable box fed magazine. Also, let's not forget the reason for
  3. I have 3 models from K-Var (01, 02, and BHO). The only one that has this is the new LRBHO model (I haven't received it yet but confirmed it with the salesperson). I saw a couple of these a few gunshows ago in Ft Lauderdale. They also had the new style forgrip.
  4. Thank you for this post Crusader. This is just how we need to address these type of bills. With a collective voice of opposition to Congress.
  5. I sure hope your right. However, it would be a good idea for all of us to let our newly elected officials know, that we do not want this type of legeslation becoming law ever again. Hopefully the NRA will listen as well.
  6. I'm glad to finaly hear us start talking about addressing this bit of bad legeslation. It would be so nice to see the 86 machinegun ban repealed. Seeing as how many victories we've had recently, pertaining to the second amenment, why could we not get this law eventualy overturned?
  7. I hope you're being sarcastic. If not, then you'll end up on the "Go fuck yourself list" with many gun owners, if you're the type to profit-whore like that. "Free America", "Capitalism", yeah yeah yeah, I get it. But it's still a dick move, and it's why I won't ever spend a dime with those pieces of shit at Cheaper Than Dirt. I hope their place burns down. Selling PMags for like 60 fucking dollars and lying about why they jacked the price up. Fuckers. Well said Shooter! It's that greed driven outlook that screws all of us. We need to fight back legeslatively in these matters,
  8. There has to be something we can do to combat this type of nonsense! I mean what about the God all mighty NRA? And what about all of our newly elected Tea Party backed elected Republicans? It seems like we should have the ability to go on the offensive, and attack this along with every other gun ban sceme, that gets swept under the rug, after it passes without one vote through Congerss. I just do not believe that we are helpless in these maters.
  9. Makes me wonder if Mossberg, Remington, Benelli USA, et al. lobby for a ruling like this as their expensive tacticals were being outsold by a relatively cheap Russian import. I wouldn't put it past them. I remember when Arizona was debating it's constitutional carry law last year, some of the biggest financial supporters to its opposition were CCW instructors who were about to have their pockets a whole lot lighter. Not to mention the machine gun owners who cringe at the idea of the Hughes Amendment being repealed or the infamous sell outs like Bill Ruger or just the usual fear-mon
  10. I just heard that ATF is going to make a new ruling on the definition of sporting shotguns. This just came to my attention at todays Ft. Lauderdale gun show. WTF?????
  11. I'm thinking of doing the same thing. Not because I want to be able to go back to sporter configuration, but because the holes in the sides of the reciever aren't that big of a deal, and I may not want to go through all the filing and grinding. I'm a perfectionist with my work, and I can see myself going crazy over this operation. I do plan to weld the holes in the underside, and from there, I will make my final decission concerning the holes in the sides of the reciever. As we speak, CGW still has the gun and Vickey said it's at the engraver, so I hope to see it some time soon. .
  12. I agree, I dig the original foregrip and shy away from all the Hip,Slick and tacti-cool gadjets as well. However, I do appreciate the utility minded concept in refferance to sling point location, and complete access to the gas tube adjustment.
  13. Thanks, I believe you answered my question.
  14. What have the most consistant numbers been on the gas ports of the three hole19" barrels, based on your personal experience? I only ask because I sent my Saiga 12 back under warrantee and it ran perfect on 1 1/8 and 1oz low brass on the #2 setting. I did'nt see any contact with the bolt and trunion either.
  15. Welcome Harelypap, I had the same problem with my Saiga 12. It was a 3 hole Vodka special and would not cycle low brass on #2 setting either. I sent it to Tom at CGW under warrantee and when it came back, it was throwing brass about five to six feet away. I was able to shoot 1oz. 2 3/4 #7and 8 shot. I ran the gun in one subgun/shotgun match without a problem, shooting 1 1/8oz. 2 3/4 brass #8 shot. If your gun does not function properly after a reasonable break in period, send it to Tom under warrantee. Good luck and have fun.
  16. Anyway, If there are any video's that you know of on this topic, specifically for welding the side holes of the Saiga 12 with a MIG welder, please let me know. I would like to see some of what the other guy's are doing from a few different perspectives. Thanks
  17. I tell ya' 6500 rpm, I'm almost considering filling the side holes with rivets. I am thinking of installing the rivets on each side of the reciever and welding them from inside to hold them solid. I mean I really do not look forward to all that fucking grinding and fileing and grinding and fileing and rewelding and grinding and WHAT THE FFFFFFUUCCKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. I agree, I use a MIG for all my gunsmithing. I just get tired of haveing to keep going over places where the weld does'nt penetrate. To give an example, I will fill a hole and when I go to grind down the beed, only half the hole will be sealed while you can still see the outline of the other side where the weld did not seal. So, I have to lay down another bead on the other side of the hole and repeat the same process of grinding and filing untill all of the outlne is solid. Man I tell you it's such a pain in the ASSSS!!!!!!!! I realy wish I knew how to operate a TIG, because I know guy's that
  19. Thanks Bob, I'm pretty much stuck using the MIG anyway because I have no access to a TIG and no trigger time on one. It's Okay though, I'll just have to go through the usual filing and grinding untill everything is square and flat. WHAT A PAIN IN THE ASS!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. I agree that spraying over park is the best medium for optimum adhearance,Not really true but often repeated on the internet but I don't want to go into parkerizing the entire gun. I like Molly and KG guncoat, but as I said before, I have seen these two products scratch very easily when sprayed over bare metal. If not prepped or applied right they will all do this.If this new product K- Phos will will act as a primer base for better adheasion, I will probably go with KG gun coat or Molly resin. I have a very strong back ground in automotive refinishing and I am knowledgable with many name bran
  21. Thanks for that info Matchgrade. It's beginning to look like I'm going to use either Molly or KG gunkoat. The more I learn about some of the new products from KG Industries, the more I like thier line of spray bake finishes. Don't get me wrong though, I have been useing Johns Molly resin for years and it's a superb product, it's just that I like to go with one brand if I choose to use a certain product like KG guncoat. I kind of like what I'm seeing in the 1600 series and the K phos looks to be the product that addresses the adheasion problem I've encountered in the past with spray bake finish
  22. Have you sprayed John Norrells Mollycoat over the K-phos? I only ask because I would like to know if these two products are compatible with each other. I like both Molly and KG, but I may choose to go with Molly coat because you don't have to use as high a temperature to cure as you do Gunkoat. If I remember correctly, Molly coat will cure at 180 degrees for one hour, where you must bake Gunkoat at 325 for an hour. Anyway, let me know what your experience has been with the compatibility of these two products. Oh yes! What's the difference in the 1600 and 2300 series KG ind has listed on their
  23. Thanks Bob, I probably will go with Molly or KG Gunkoat sinse I've used both in the past. I still have some time because Tom still has my gun and I don't want to bug him, because I'm sure he's very busy with the holyday's and all. I was wondering, do you sandblast the entire gun, or can you spray over the barrell with molly? I understand that the finish on the reciever will break down with break cleaner, whereas the barrel and trunion will not. Whats your opinion on this matter?
  24. Hey guy's What are the mixing ratios with Duracoat? How many parts paint to hardner/reducer? What type of spray gun do you all use, and what are the pressure settings? I want to go for the dull flat non-reflective look of Park, and I saw a Saiga-12 finished in Dura coat that looked like that. Man did that look good!
