  1. What you’re dealing with in these terms applies to birdshot as the projectile/s and largely to hunting / breaking clays. How far you can reliably drop a bird or bust a clay is the effective range of that choke’s constriction (varies by choke with the tightening the shot pattern), roughly how far the shot will fly in total is the terminal range (more or less is a constant depending on shot size / weight and velocity). IMO while brakes may look cool, chokes do the needed job.
  2. Beyond the nice heirloom factor they are one of the truly great hunting guns ever made.
  3. There will be a video coming with Lindsay Lohan forgetting she had it and walking out of the store with it.
  4. One of my all time favorite quotes as told in "the Reavers" by William Faulkner: "A gentleman can live through anything." "A gentleman accepts the responsibilities of his actions and bears the burden of their consequences, even when he did not instigate them but only acquiesced to them, didn't say No though he knew he should." A grandfather telling his grandson a good man does not allow for sins of commission or omission. Very near to what mine told to me.
  5. 1st none of these are photos of my cars (way too clean) Before back problems daily driver was 1990 "babybenz" 190e 2.6 inline 6 with 5 speed 190,000 miles on it. Beast for the woods and when my road is washed out is my old 1988 GMC S15 Jimmy with about 100,000 miles on it. Driving the wife's 2004 V6 Passat wagon right now, she's using the other 1993 190e with the 4 cylinder and auto. Should note I drive about 100 miles a day round trip to work (2 miles down a clay road each way), so lots of wear and tear and dirt.
  6. reading one shooters bio, noted they are USPSA "D" class in production Qualifications for D class: Show up @ at match. Shoot in gereral direction of targets. Go home. Repeat 3 more times. Bam! Instant D class (production no less) :lolol:
  7. too cool, great save. i should save this in case my gun and my dog ever meet.
  8. well I am glad I humor you. More horror than humor from some of the items below: my entire point is, the large gun control acts have almost all come about after civil unrest or major incidents. almost NONE of these events did the armed law abiding citizenship stand up and cut the people down. THIS is what the second amendment was intended for. Say what? Usually the "law abiding" aren't known for cut/gunning people down on any occasion or event and I really don't believe that was the intent of the 2nd amendment. I can't see me furthering the cause of support to the 2nd amendment by shoo
  9. First 2 words "anger management" Second if you have divine knowledge that works for something in the world of firearms just put it down in an easy to understand statement… hint…hint Other wise it all just seems kind of Garp like:
  10. While I believe something could be done (easy enough to do) I also believe that it will never happen (people are just too damn lazy) and it would do no good to fight off the plans of the BATF (if they want to screw you over, it's a done deal). That being said I propose a forum match with some divisions for all three gauges: Stock being factory (capacity) mags and choke 922r compliant, choke as desired, with a 10 round limit. 922r compliant, choke as desired, with unlimited round limit. Full race, mag well OK, with any optics, porting OK, choke as desired, with
  11. Glock has Glock only matches all over the US, with Saiga you could have some set courses of fire and hold postal matches. I would suggest the use of: timed plate racks (birdshot), timed bowling pins (buckshot), hit count thrown clays (birdshot), and timed/scored bulls eye or NRA tombstone type targets as opposed to USPSA silhouette for slugs to avoid shooting at the shapes of people.
  12. A few years ago I got a full sized Bushmaster with a 20" heavy barrel and removable carry handle. The 3 gun matches at the time had targets out to 300 yards so it seemed like a great choice at the time. 1 to 4 power Millet red dot added and gun proved to be dead on accurate. After a while a while people got tired to taking that long to paste and score so now more of the rifle stages are from point blank (in a shoot house) to 50 yards so I'm using a 9mm Mech Tech CCU. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=51267 Even if I'd got a 16" lighter gun in the AR to save money I'd still
  13. He might be better off getting a ported barrel from some one like Storm Lake they cost about the same as having magna port do the job. I know with Glocks anyway I like the longer barrel with the ports outside the slide. Should note also a full comp is more effective in controling felt recoil. You may also need to go to a lighter recoil spring with a ported or compensated barrel for it to cycle / meaning if he is already having cycling issues with the semi-autos he might be better off with a revolver. Some autos are more forgiving than others on how they cycle. Any chance he could use an
