  1. to those who have gotten things from eastwave.... what courier do they use to ship? my scope should be here any day, and im wondering if i should be hunting down the UPS guy or the mailman or what? sorry, just getting a little antsy.
  2. cool, though it's weird to think of milling as the fall back option. then again, i sure wouldnt want to carry a milled ak on a long march. i bet they were glad when the stamped rifles were issued.
  3. nope, that PG plate is for stamped recievers, just like ours. it's just spot-welded on there. it was added in the early 80's i think, to underfolders. Those PG plates can be purchased, but i wasn't suggesting you buy one, I was saying go ahead and cut one out to match your ergo, and weld it on. They do it all the time. edit: that one in the photo is on a stamped sidefolder. edit2:the soviets developed the stamped reciever in 1959 and it replaced the milled reciever in military service in 1961.
  4. http://tantal.kalashnikov.guns.ru/akbstparts.html look about 2/3 down the page for this
  5. nope, saigas, wasr's and the aes-10. colletor-types really freak on that shit.. thats the main thing they knock about the wasr, other than the mag fit, canted sights and shitty finish... well, ok there's lots to knock, but i still like mine lol. edit: oh yeah, and the aes-10 shouldn't go for more than $500
  6. the AES-10 is a century int'l arms made rpk clone... think of a wasr-10 with a long barrel. they did a run of them before they did all those yugo's.
  7. no guts, no glory. actually the .308 is easier than the x39 to convert... no weird axis pins to mess with.. all you have to do is get the conversion plate removed from the bottom of the receiver and the rest practically falls into place.
  8. that's a great idea for those of us with more time than money. besides.. it's always satisfying to put your own mark on something. I've made some "test" stocks myself, and the hardest part when doing them with hand tools, is getting the fit to the receiver just right. if that was already done, leaving the creative and more time consuming work to the end user..... well, i think this idea is a winner!
  9. it's not a super deal, but i'd say it's fair. you should offer them 3 and see what happens. worst they can do is say no thanks. i got mine in april for 290 otd at a gun show, but i havent seen them that cheap since.
  10. beer: anything but budweiser liquor: stoli, jager, mount gay rum and ive been enjoying my homebrew cider lately as well. (lots of work picking and grinding, but totally worth it.)
  11. hahahha ... douche.... lol another benefit of that would be some nice clean shoreline to fish from.
  12. i like it! chop New York City off our fine state like the tumor it is! seriously, if upstate was left to its own devices, alot of this bullshit would be a non-issue. i think long island might have to go with the city, too.
  13. mhmm. been there with Centerfire Systems. They apparently cant be bothered to verify if mags are preban. I tried to get some East German 30 rounders from them and argued on the phone with the "lady", pointing out that the WAS NO EAST GERMANY in '94. no dice.
  14. or, since it's in NY, it could be a bloomberg/spitzer entrapment plan, lol
  15. NY actually does allow a lot of stuff, but it certainly doesn't allow real ak's with 3 axis pins. if that was transferrable, it would be $15,000. even black market it would be a grand. so i figure airsoft must be the answer.
  16. i would think that the 308's upward trigger pull, and a vertical grip, could possibly be the shittiest combination ever. i hope izhmash wouldn't do something that crappy. seriously, your finger would be rubbing the trigger more than squeezing it. ...on the other hand, it does have styling lines clearly related to the design of the handguard. hmm. i just have trouble believing izhmash wouldn't do a regular trigger placement if producing a thumbhole version.
  17. sorry, don't mean to be a bad influence. oh, and i thought you were getting out of ak's.
  18. YEs that's fine for zeroing at one distance, but the BDC marks on the top turret are for 76254r not 308.... What I'm asking is how different are the ballistics or do folks just mark their own BDC onto the knob? the ballistics are remarkably similar, i cant find the chart, but the little bit more powder in the 54r is offset by bullet that is like 5 grains heavier than the 51, end result is nearly idential bullet drop.
  19. i just ordered this one from eastwave. we'll see how long shipping takes and what the quality is like. all i know is that eastwave is LOTS cheaper than other places i've seen.
  20. I think it's partally how she's holding it further in front of her than you realize. i've done the same with pictures of fish that i'd caught
  21. Can i play too!?!? here's most of my ZDS. and here's my ZDA (Zombie Defense Alarm)
  22. looks sharp, now you need to vent the handguard! does the BHO rub on your trigger finger? mine did, and i had to grind it down so its *just* long enough to work. (when BHO is engaged, the lever is flush with the receiver.)
  23. wow, to expet a carbine and get a 22", now thats a pleasant surprise. happy converting! looking forward to pics
  24. imho, the wood stocks look better anyway. i bought a synthetic, but only because it was cheap and available (just like i like 'em) and it's not even wearing its plastic anymore. no big loss.
  25. that'd be an expensive mag, wouldnt it? aluminum isnt cheap, and milling takes machine time. might be cheaper to glue factory mags together. and i'd be a bit worried about the feed lips wearing just as quickly as polymer. of course i could be wrong, happens all the time
