  1. muslims have some absolutely outrageous demands, I manage a building that has an islamic association in it, I have to change the filters on the a/c units which are 15 feet in the air. They asked me to remove my shoes in one room because it was there prayer room, I politely gave them the filters and told them to buy a ladder because I am not going to pull my shoes off for anyone and even remotely sacrifice my safety or get caught by an osha employee violating standard safety procedures. Even my boss said do not go back there unless there is a catastrophic failure. I just dont get these people
  2. Xacex it is all good everyone has there right to an opinion on this forum, which 40cal ruger did you have. I am no pistol expert but I am going to get the 17 to the range this week and will be posting pics of the gun and my targets at 7 and 15 and 25 yards I don't expect them to be great but that is what practice is for if I can get some descent groups I will be happy as could be.
  3. Yea there is nothing better than the original. I am sure an original issue govt models are very reliable. They would have to be for combat but once different companies start producing there own variants then specs are not quite the same maybe certain parts are not as strong as on the original. All in all they are both great designs and both have there rightful place as some of the most prolific pistol designs ever.
  4. Exactly ar's and 1911's are similar they both have more sequels than the rocky films, glocks and ak's have followed the same basic design for years, form follows function. I respect 1911's they are probably great guns but if I was told I had to go into a gun fight in 5 seconds and they said pick between the two on a table I am taking the glock, just my preference.
  5. shooter I got the 2nd gen 17 from summit gun broker should be here thursday, I have not been this excited since my daughter was born. thanks for the look because it is really hard to find 2nd gen or 1st gen with the box and papers inside so worth the extra 10 15 bucks over some other stuff on gunsamerica.
  6. the fcg may take a few trys to get it right but it is not too bad, just take the time and watch the videos that helps a whole lot.
  7. Cali 10mm is what is issued to police in greenland when they are on patrol in case of polar bears. Get a 10mm, and enjoy
  8. yarp I can see what you are saying but I am probably going to get the crossbreed it seems to be what I am looking for and what I will be more use too, besides I wear my belts really tight and getting a pistol out when I wear them as tight as I do around my 32 inch waist could be a problem. Ordered my glock 17 today should be here on the 15th the day I pick up my permit and then off to the range for some break in time. thanks for the advice everyone, while this is my first pistol this will certainly not be my last, If I like the glock enough I see a 10mm g20 in my future sometime after
  9. I reccomend doing it yourself, I have no knowledge on the S-12, but I can tell you that my 7.62x39 was a snap and was good to learn how the gun worked and what to do if anything failed. So far though I have not had any malfunctions and I am no mechanical genius by any means. By the way CSS has very fast shipping and you can get parts in as little as two days, they are located out of sc so you can get parts at your door quicker than I can and I am 3 hours north of you. If you have the money though and dont want to get into dissassembling the gun then go for it, either way you win so get on
  10. the short stepped edge goes under the chamber.
  11. yea looked at the smart carry and I can see how it works for some people with a smaller pistol but I have no intention of blowing my custard chucker off. I could see how it would be quick on the draw if you learn, but say you are being pinned down and have a hand free only, how hard will it be to get the pistol out and will the attacker think your fondling yourself. Maybe the zack could be for me when I get more experience but for safety comfort and not shooting sir henry I think I am getting the CBST, at least then if it goes off I will only be missing a small part of my ass, lol.
  12. thanks for the tip yarp, definitely look into the smartcarry.
  13. yarp I am really wanting the crossbreed supertuck in horsehide, I have heard nothing but good things about them especially the way the hug your body, which being 6'4" and 165 soaking wet I need a good holster to properly conceal a full size pistol without much printing, I have heard galco's are pretty good also. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
  14. I know in NC they can if a private property owner has a no handgun ban in effect then you have to take it off.
  15. yarp I was giving a ball park figure to a used one seeing as how parts are so plentiful I dont imagine I will ever buy a new one unless there aren't any used ones around, i.e. glock 20 10mm but there always seem to be a few on auction sites that are used. I personally dont think an external safety is neccesary, thats not what I grew up on, I am use to revolvers so I know my safety is between my head. I wont be carrying with one in the chamber for the first couple of months I ccw my glock 17.
  16. that is a real show of skill but this guy has balls of titanium. http://www.streetfir...500-hp_1318.htm http://www.streetfire.net/video/ghostrider-2011_2306711.htm
  17. I am not going to say the glock is more comfortable in my hand compared to the xd9 or ruger sr9 but it still felt good and it shot well in my opinion, its the only one I have been able to rent and shoot. The biggest thing for me though is reliability and simplicity and as far as I can tell glock is the ak47 of auto loading pistols. Guns are not suppose to be comfortable they are suppose to be comforting.
  18. already found it 2nd gen glock 17, As far as safeties go there is no better safety than you brain and finger if you cant use those then no matter how many safeties you have you will end up possibly getting yourself or someone else hurt. I figure with the glocks lack of external safety except the trigger safety will keep me alot more aware of the guns condition while carrying.
  19. I get it if your going to buy 40cal get the original, 10mm would be cool I am going to try hog hunting next year a 10mm would be a good sidearm. So basically the g20 needs a barrel swap for practice and nothing else even the factory mags work. Post were you the member who posted a close-up kill with a G20 on a feral hog.
  20. you too, had to get off quick old lady was bitchin

  21. I wanted to start with the 9 so I could have something to shoot as well as my fiancee and if she likes it enough then I will probably move up to a 40 after and give her the 9. MT the price does seem a little high especially for 10 rounders but I may see if I can get a discount if he leaves the mags out of it. The broker was reccomended to me by another member because he has seen the quality of his used guns and knows that it will be better than average condition compared to other brokers. As far as the g19 I know at the top the width and length is the same but the longer grip on the
