  1. Only made one order with SG, and it was at the end of december for 1k of WPA 7.62 SP. I got it in 8 days, paid around 20 ish for shipping. I guess it is hit or miss, but I am inclined to give people the benefit of the doubt in times like this. However, if it happened multiple times, well that is a different story.
  2. Yeah, I gotta admit I like the AK platform.....alot. I have several AR's, and I like tinkering with them, but there is just nothing like an AK. Still like my AR's, but my attention from now on will be on AK's.
  3. Good point about good and bad with this recent panic. I still believe it will all shake out and things will normalize in 6 mos or so, as long as there is not another event.
  4. Dang, that's is some good polishing to get it to 2.3 lbs. I am just not confident in knowing where to polish to do that. I need to search videos and such and just do it. Worse case I have to buy new FCG.
  5. wow......I don't have words. $1k for a saiga with only the trigger moved? I think these will be available for a while. A Vepr can be had for about the same price.
  6. Niiiiiiiice! Did you paint the receiver? It looks shiny and purty. My next build will be something similar. I have wood now, and want to do a polymer front end with a similar stock. Good work!
  7. Will the CSS vented handguard work on the Vepr 02 version (longer gas tube)?
  8. Details are sketchy, but it looks like 2 people shot at a middle school near Atlanta.
  9. I have no experience with PWS or Battlecomp, although I have heard great things about Battlecomp. I have a traditional bulgy 74 brake on mine, and I can tell a noticible difference with the brake on.
  10. I know its hard to be patient, but if you shop around you can find everything you need. Just will take some searching. Dinzag, CSS, CNCWarrior, and others will have what you need.
  11. That was a really nice gesture giving your friend an AK. Good to hear stories like that....
  12. Along with dinzag, cnc warrior also has some good options.
  13. Mine is welded and the hole filled in. It does look cleaner than the screw, which I have on another conversion. I also refinished the entire rifle. Parked, then norrells matte black. Bullet guide looks like it was built into the rifle now.
  14. It's always tempting to sell a gun during times like this when they are so valuable. But, look at it this way....you will always be able to make more money. You may not always be able to buy an AK. I have never regretted keeping a gun. I have only regretted selling a gun.
  15. Like dubya said, don't fear the bullet guide. It's not as bad as it seems. I would recommend getting a quality tap and tap handle. Just about any hardware store has them. The handguard is really up to your personal preference. All depends on what you want and that will dictate where you go to get it.
  16. The hand guards are also off a bulgy 74 stock set that was refinished. Really appreciate the compliments. I'm pretty proud of her!
  17. Finished this awhile back, but just now figured out photobucket. Thanks to the people on this board, otherwise this probably would not have some out as well as it did. The wood is bulgy surplus, then stained Combloc Red by Combloc Customs. He really did a great job. I realize the brake and stock are "74, but I like the way they look.
  18. I reload a lot of the 62 grain steel core milsurp bullets for my ar. They are cheap and plentiful. Good zombie bullets.
  19. Without seeing it, it sounds like you got one that has already been half way converted, meaning the trigger and magwell have been converted. If that is the case, nice find, depending of course what you paid.
  20. Polish mags are good. Picked up 10 from classic before all the craziness, and I have to say I am very impressed with them.
  21. I cut mine on two oppoosite sides, wacked it with a mallet, and it fell to the floor in two pieces. Just be careful and do not cut to deep, If you nick the barrel, it is no big deal, just go slow. It is possible that the barrel is threaded under the shroud, but none of mine have been. As far as getting the new FSB on, friend at work has a press and helped me press the new FSB on. Forgot to mention, none of mine had pins. They were dimpled or pressed on at the factory. So my only option was to cut it off. Took about 10 minutes and was much easier than I thought. On one, I cut a little to
  22. No worries man. I think there is quite a bit of frustration right now for all of us. Glad things worked out for you.
