  1. There are a few that change the harmonics of a barrel but not enough to worry about with a general use gun. Ones that have "forks" or "ring" when tapped with something hard sometimes do cause accuracy issues but with the proper handload you can overcome it. Personally I would not worry about it, especially if you are shooting a factory gun and factory ammo. Dolomite
  2. Where they new? If not have you had them xrayed? I have been told some of them can be very brittle and can be cracked without any outward appearance as to it is broken. Dolomite
  3. I would love to hunt hogs from a helicopter. Even though I was in a helicopter accident I still would do it. Riding in helicopters has always been enjoyable to me.
  4. Well there is your problem. Rather that buy 20 two liter bottles you should have bought 85 16 ounce bottles that way everyone is safer. My only concern might be the high capacity soda holding device you just created without proper registration. Does anyone know if Toaster Strudels fall under the same law as Pop Tarts? Or what about bananas? They come already shaped like a firearm. They are also very, very dangerous if the peel falls to the floor. Dolomite
  5. Look at the various 300 Blackout scopes. The two are really close.
  6. Help me out here... Where is the felony? Straw buying or selling across state lines? I thought if FTF was legal in a state, it was LEGAL. Does that mean I can't sell FTF out of state? ------- Also... Ohhh... So captain douche is going to keep his .45? Guess what? Me too.. And my x39, and x54R, and et al... Fuck him! Illegal unless you do a transfer in the state of residence of the buyer. Dolomite
  7. So he is buying a gun he hasn't picked up with the intent of turning it in, yeah right. So he probably lied on his form when he marked it was for him. And when he goes to sell the gun he talks about I hope it isn't the 45 because then he bought it with the intent to resell. And I would be willing to bet it is on the same form as the AR which is probably marked as a purchase for himself. It really doesn;t matter because at this point he can come out and publically say I bought a dozen AR's and resold them for a profit and the powers that be will protect him. Dolomite
  8. Ammo is the biggest cause of accuracy issues, specifically commercial ammo. I built a bolt gun to shoot 7.62x39 and with handloads it was a MOA shooter all day long. I took commercial ammo (tula dn Wolf) and was rewarded with 2"-3" groups. I even tore down the commercial ammo and loaded rounds using the same powder and the same bullets but with the same exact weights. Those loaded rounds shot as well as my handloads. The ammo I tore down varied so much, the powder charge fluctuated between 25.1 and 25.6 grains and the bullets ranged from 120.6 grains to 124.9 grains in weight. Dolo
  9. I have done a lot of free floating of barrels and bedding the action as well as bedding of barrel and free floating the action. This is what I have observed. A free floated barrel will shoot phenominally well with very few types of ammo, generally one or two, and will shoot the rest badly. While a bedded barrel will shoot a much wider variety of ammo well but it will rarely shoot as well with any ammo as the one or two loads a free floated barrel does. If how I typed it doesn't make sense let me know and I will expound a bit. Dolomite
  10. I think you meant to say knobs
  11. I have used ceramic and steel plates, never been shot, but I prefer steel. What a lot of people don't realize is most cermic plates are 2x-3x as thick steel for the same protection. For me I was getting into and out of suburbans and having steel plates made it a lot easier to get in and out. I have also used in conjuction plates but still prefer steel. I have tested the cermic floor tiles and it is amazing how well $3 in materials is in stopping rounds. I used two 1/4" plates with a 1/4" piece of foam between them to give a little standoff between tiles. It stopped 5.56 and 9mm. I ran out
  12. And they work really well. Dolomite
  13. Ok, thanks. Like I said the money isn't the issue, the wait is. Luckily my welder got sick today. I have to wait another week to have some stuff welded on the gun.
  14. The reason I ask is I placed an order a week ago. It was drafted out of my account immediately like it is a automatic draft but I have yet to receive an email with any shipping info. I have also not received my item and I can ship anything to any of the lower 48 in under 4 days. I ordered a grip and it said it was in stock. Wasn't a high ticket item and the wait was worst than loosing the money. I am probably going to order another to avoid any more of a wait. I see he has been on this site in close to a year. Dolomite
  15. I would build it in 223 then toss a conversion in for it. You could use it to hunt squirrel or hunt deer. Or rather than 7.62x39 look at 300 Blackout. I am a super huge fan of the 300. I load and cast for the caliber. It can do anything the x39. I used a Frontier lower as well. They are great for the money. The triggers have zero creep but are a bit heavy.
  16. I have done several of mine. I drill then tap them 10-32. I install the rail and use loctite.
  17. Check these out. The 1-4x 24mm is going to be under $200 and the 1-4x 24mm Throw Down PCL is going to be under $250. I really like the PCL version because of the reticle and the first focal plain. Dolomite
  18. I built a lightweight AR. It has a 20" barrel and weighs exactly 5 pounds even without sights or ammo. I used carbon fiber free float tube and a polymer lower. I used a standard upper, BCG and buffer system. The barrel is pencil thin but it still shoots MOA with my handloads. I weighed a lot of components and the Clark carbon fiber free float tube is the lightest I found. The polymer lower saved 7 ounces over an aluminum on. And early car stock is also lighter than anything out there. It will be a gun I keep forever because it is light enough to carry all day and with the extra barrel leng
  19. So he admits he is buying a gun with the intent of not keeping it. I would love to see a copy of the 4473. If he marked the gun was for him then he lied on a federal form and should be prosecuted. And if he is buying it with the intent of resale he needs to have a FFL. Dolomite
  20. I had a cat that was very old that I swore had dementia. She would sometimes wake up with a look of despair. She would look around for 5 minutes like she was in a new place. She always enjoyed being around us but in her older years she acted the same way she did with strangers sometimes. Dolomite
  21. Anyone ever had their barrel threaded to accept standard chokes? I am going to have the barrel chopped and a flashider permanently welded in place. I was thinking that if I could have the barrel tapped for standard chokes it would be great. I contacted a local smith and they said they needed the barrel removed. I could have sworn I seen a reamer to do it by hand. I could be wrong though. Dolomite
  22. Just came across this: http://www.armslist.com/posts/1072539/seattle-washington-shotguns-for-sale--catamount-fury-semi-auto-ak-47-platform-shotgun--like-saiga-12 And this http://americangunwrangler.com/en/shotguns/104-catamount-12ga-semi-auto-shotgun.html I just want spare parts. Dolomite
  23. If you will take $30 shipped for the S12 USA bird cage copy muzzle brake. I will take it. Dolomite
  24. I am needing someone to weld on some HK sights to the gas block. I have found a guy locally but I am worried he may warp or penetrate the gas block while doing it. Any suggestions as to who can do it. I would prefer someone in the E Tennessee area but anywhere as a last resort. I plan on sending just the gas block in with the sights. Also, what are some ways to prevent warping? The guy locally is supposed to be really good but he is not a gun guy. Thanks Dolomite
  25. I seen an ad locally where a guy was selling 17 22lr rounds. As in loose rounds. I can't remember how much but I wanted to say a few dollars. Dolomite
