  1. I wonder what the deal with the fire and safe labels on the wrong side of the receiver?
  2. Mine started doing the same thing. I have a factory 19" and before deer season i shot about 50 2/3/4" slugs and about 15 3" slugs though it to sight in (and have some fun). A week or 2 later i went out to the range and it wouldn't cycle bird shot on #2 setting at all. Even tried some high brass stuff and it didn't work. I am going to try and smooth out the hammer on the G2 trigger group i got and see if that helps it cycle better. The variable i haven't gotten to test yet is the weather. It worked fine in summer when it was hot with any load i threw at it, worked great with slugs in novemb
  3. Thank you very much. That saves me about 2oz of blood from not having to pull the fcg apart 10 times as i mess around with grinding it down.
  4. I am having some problems with the bolt carrier hanging up on the hammer and want to take a bit of material off the hammer to smooth things up. I am just wondering if anyone has a pic of a modified hammer next to a stock G2 hammer for comparison? I would compare it to the factory hammer but I gave that away a long time ago to someone here on the forum who needed it. Also has anyone had any luck with the factory hammer and a G2 trigger and disconnecter? If worse comes to worse i could just find a factory one for sale and toss that back in, I have enough other compliance parts to make up
  5. Those are the best pics i could get using the camera on my cell phone Hope that answeres any questions as to how it looks.
  6. the ammount of velocity you will loose from using a 19" barrel isnt going to matter for clays or most game. A clay wont notice the 50-100fps differance. If you have shot a lot of clays the biggest problem you may run into is the sights being so far above the barrel. It took me awhile to get used to them along with the post and U sights insted of a bead. I have shot trap quite a few times with a 20" barrel Mossberg 500. Informaly with friends i would get around 20 out of 25 normaly, sometimes more, sometimes less. That gun had no choke. A choke would help greatly to keep the pattern
  7. Hi Eirk, Thanks a lot for that info. So the receiver is the front trunion for the S12. That filled in a big gap my Google-Fu missed So if I wanted to produce a front trunion (receiver) I would need to use a mill. Would I be safe to guess that this would also involve welding in the build process? Not a problem. I do not know if you would need to weld at all. The reason there are no home built saiga 12's is because of the ammount of work and effort needed. For example make a trunion for the shotgun, then get a flat and bend it up and build a bunch of other one off parts fo
  8. Got a polychoke for my saiga12 from the kind people over at polychoke. Havnt shot with it yet but so far it seems good. Took a micrometer to it and on full choke it was down to .700. I was unable to get it onto extra full and the manual says that it may take a few shots to break the choke in to be able to go to that setting. It threds on all the way and i am unable to see any remaining thred on the barrel when i have it tightened down. Sticking my pinky into the choke i can barely feel any gap between the barrel and choke, it seems like a good tight fit. On mine the alignment mark is a
  9. The sheet metal is not the receiver on a saiga. If you look at the parts count list for the saiga you will notice that trunion is not checked but it is on every other AK style firearm. The receiver is the front trunion. In order to make one you would need a mini mill and a chunk of steel, not quite as easy as bending up a flat.
  10. Well a 37mm flare launcher is just that, a flare launcher. Launch flares with it all day not a problem, hell its not even a firearm. Be in posession of any shell for it that has any use as an antipersonel round and then your 37mm flare launcher is now a DD. Hopefully the worst that may come from this is that the ATF decides that the gun needs to be registered as a DD in order to use the mag. Kinda the same concept as above since the magazine would be the factor pushing it over the edge like the antipersonel rounds for a 37mm flare gun. So it would be Saiga 12, all cool, just a normal shotg
  11. On mine after i got the bolt hold open out and decock the hammer i am able to rotate the safety far enough that it goes past the disconnector (lifting it up and basicaly pulling the trigger, so make sure that you decock it first so the hammer doesnt fly up on you) and then slide it out. If that doesnt work you can take out the actual trigger pin (the one above the plate on the bottom of the reciever) and remove the trigger and diconector then take out the safety. They are all atached together so it would be easy to put back together.
  12. I have one off a saiga 12 you can have, I would imagine they are the same thing. Only thing missing is the disconector spring. PM me with your address and i will send it out to you.
  13. Pay attention at walmart for after season sales. I picked up about 1500 12ga shells for i think $2.25 a box. they are the Winchester Super Speed 1oz bird shot loads. They currently have 100rd packs for $16 which aint bad, about 16 cents a shot. For cheap buckshot sportmans guide has nobel sport 12 pellet 00 buck for $75 a case (250rds) plus shipping.
  14. Does the gas piston on the bolt carrier move around a bit or can you unthread it from the bolt carrier? On AK's the gas piston is threaded in then drilled though and rivited to the bolt carrier so its normal for there to be a little slack in its movement.
  15. I live about 70 miles from them, I sent them off an email that if they are having a hard time getting their hands on a RAA saiga 12 with a threaded barrel to let me know and i would gladly stop out by them to test fit it on mine.
