  1. Please post, anyone who is not on Back Order. I'll bet the mags aren'e even in the country.
  2. I have a long term conversion project planned. It'll have to wait till I have $$$, but hopefully the S-410 will still be around.
  3. What'd I tell ya... Realistically, 2005 would be good considering their track record.
  4. I'm betting 2005 at the absolute earliest. Hats off to them if I'm wrong.
  5. Please post when you actually get them. I'd almost bet money it would take months before ANYONE gets them.
  6. I thought of developing a thick aluminum milled receiver that takes a stamped kit, and thought maybe the sides could either be flared wider or just open to accept really wide double stack mags or drums.
  7. I think, I'm not sure, but I think that the SAR-3 hammer is the one to use with the Saiga 308. Note that though these different options are offered, you can convert them yourself. So if you're comfortable countouring it with a Dremel to match the original hammer, the 7.62 will work.
  8. If I only had a digicam... I might see about those pics this coming fall break.
  9. Wait and see how long that 30 day back order stretches into. Remember the VEPR Pioneer and Hunter? Remember how they promise the Saiga 100 every few months? Until you see actual people getting hi-caps from EAA, save your money for my G3 mag conversions (I hope to release a couple this winter). In fact with the price of G3 mags compared to Saigas, Might want to do that anyway.
  10. I'm still working on getting that G3 mag conversion out there. Just gotta finish school too. I'll really try to get pics on here.
  11. Now that sounds like a winning design!
  12. Here's a good procedure: 1.) Find a US employer who would be interested in hiring you and sponsoring your immigration. 2.) With their help, get info on housing and possibly a credit line just to get started off. 3.) Once settled and employed, begin application process to become a US citizen. 4.) Buy any gun you can afford with a decent job. 5.) Once your citizenship is complete, exercise your right to vote for those who protect your firearm rights. If immigration isn't an option, perhaps have a part custom manufactured, preferably by yourself or a friend.
  13. The question is not why do we have P-grips, but rather why didn't we before, if that's the natural position of the hand? The reason is that until the past half century, the bayonet was a major weapon in war. Long arms with limited capacity doubled as pole arms when their bullets ran out. Even more so with the single shot muzzle loader. Notice as the bayonet declined in significance the pistol grips slowly began to appear, starting with curved sections of standard stocks. Those who claim a P-grip makes something evil have no clue what they're talking about. Having a P-grip means a g
  14. Putting AP bullets in a 308 is illegal. 30-06 is fine.
  15. All neat ideas for sure. As far as my conversion goes, I have the time conflict of being a full time student. When I have chunks of time away from school, then I'll be able to produce more. Another fact about my mag conversion is that it does take quite a bit of work on the gun by the user. I won't touch another person's gun, only send a kit. While the skills required are distinctly different, I'd say converting a mag pales in comparison. I think gun owners need to stick together at this time and support each other's innovations, so I'd be happy to see if you come up with something
  16. Why an AK in 30-06? 1. Legal AP ammo in the extremely reliable and decently accurate AK-100 action. 2. Ability to fire heavy bullets much better than a 308, such as 180gr+. The way to go for hunting anything larger than whitetail.
  17. I love the Saiga forends so much I'm using one on my AMD build. So does anyone who's done a forend conversion have an extra laying around? I want to build this: Can anyone help out a poor guy?
  18. As I said, even in excellent condition I wouldn't even notice it if its price began with anything higher than a 3, and doubt I'd bite unless it was a 2. It's probably worth more to you than to anyone else if it works. If you really don't care for it, like because its ammo is more expensive and less powerful than X39, I'd say don't expect a penny above $350 for it. That means ask for $390 or so and expect to haggle down. That way you'll be more likely to hit your target price than if you just start at $350 and don't budge. I wouldn't try to sell to dealers unless they give you a decent off
  19. They import the standard VEPR in 223, X39, 5.45x39, and 308. They modify it in house into the Vepr II/Vepr K. They also import the Super Vepr, which has a one piece full length thumbhole stock. The Vepr Hunter we speak of in 30-06 has a Monte carlo stock and was advertised by EAA. Finally they took it off their website, long after admitting that they wouldn't import them after all.
  20. A sideways pin or a block under the follower would be the way to block a Saiga 410 mag. Or if you don't mind cutting the mag, just do that. A 410 slug is ballistically similar to a 44 Rem Mag, or so I've read. Certainly fine for whitetail.
  21. Super ideas here. I've thought of pistol caliber mods myself, but wouldn't use a Saiga for that since the mods are so drastic, but just build an AKM from a kit. I'd sure like to develop a milled aluminum receiver for a stamped parts kit. I may well do that for my 35 Remington project (which will happen when i have money). Enfield mags sound like a great idea, but wouldn't the factory mag work best feeding rounds of that shape? the 444 seems very similar to the 410 in dimensions. The whole idea of converting a 410 to 444 Marlin assumes that the bolt is overdesigned for the 410, and
  22. 308 to 30-06 is more complicated than that. You can't just rechamber without taking the barrel back, because there will be a recess due to the lower taper of the 308 case. If I'm wrong then I'm one happy camper. No4 Enfield to 7.62x54R interests me... Would make it much cheaper to shoot and easier to find a variety of ammo for. Where have you seen the USA made receiver for Romak III? I must see that if it's real. The VEPR in 30-06 has been produced but isn't coming here. EAA promised them then said they won't be importing them after all. Dorks.
  23. EAA is horrible with breaking promises. Just ask about the VEPR Hunters and Saiga 100s. My G3 mag conversion was legal before the ban died because the G3 mags still work in a G3. It will be the only option for those who live in states that have copied the AWB, like NY.
  24. I could be wrong, but I think the Harper's Ferry musket is heavily influenced by the French designs. My recommendation of the M14 was assuming you meant a 20th century military gun. As for the big picture, I have to agree that the lever action is a good choice for the all-American gun.
