  1. Welcome to the forum! Even before Obama, Rifle prices were $290+ Now they're like $369ish? Not much of an increase in the past few years. In fact, a 7.62x39 from Carolina Shooters is $324.99. I just looked at one place, a little more research may find a better price. Check our forum vendor section. Usually the best prices are there... Even after shipping($15?) + transfer fee ($30?), you'll be better off than $350+tax at a local place. Don't know your sales tax, but I'll assume a 5%. $350+tax = $367.50 + Background check (usually $5 here in FL) so $372.50. IF you can find one locally for $3
  2. i have hit 18" steel plates at 560yrds with my IRON sights on my Saiga 7.62x39. I've shot under an INCH with my .308 saiga using Federal GMM 168gr bullets. And with Brown Bear .308, shot 6" groups. You can't judge accuracy with shit ammo. Shit ammo is for trigger practice, not accuracy.
  3. Also. .308 has 2-2.5x the energy at the muzzle of .223 and over 3 times the energy of .223 at 500yrds. Hell, at 500 yards, the .308 has almost as much as .223 at the muzzle. Why can't we just use the .308? Do we need something in between .223 and .308? Say something that weighs about 235 grains for a loaded round (30rds/lb) and uses a caliber between .22 and 30? Something like .270? (6.8).... and has a MV of something between the 1200@.223 and 2700@.308? Something like 1950 ft/lbs? We need a .260-.270 caliber. Weighing approximately 100-120gr. Using 30-40gr of powder with brass abo
  4. a pound is 7000 grains. 10x 150gr bullet, 1500gr. 10x 50gr of powder, 500gr. 10x 150gr of brass, 1500gr. 1500+1500+500= 3500. Or Half a Pound. So 20rds = 1 lb. Give or take a few grains. .223 - 25gr of powder, 90gr of brass, 60gr of bullet. 175gr per shot. 40 rounds of .223 is a pound, give or take. 20rds vs 40rds.
  5. Socialized healthcare! WOOT. Cigar and Cigarrete Smoking, here I come!

  6. I'm guessing while it was being extracted, the limp-wristy-shoulderless bump-firing caused the case to fail to extract completely, and the bolt carrier caught it and pushed it back forward, backwards....
  7. Dude, bumpfire is the equivalent of limp-wristing a pistol. My pistols have 100% reliability until I limp-wrist one and it double-feeds/jams.
  8. Burris Fastfire2. Brand new is $200. Light, can mount it close on the UTG side-rail mount. It's what I use on my competition rifle.
  9. Blew up one stage with 5 x 5 sec penalties. threw me out of contention. Had I shot that stage clean, i'd have easily been 4th. Oh well. Always next time. My pistol is my weaksauce. Owned a Rifle/Shotgun only stage. Had the fastest time and only one miss (5 sec penalty) that took me from 20s to 25s... so i ended up with 2nd fastest time vs. the 22sec time. 5.45 n 12ga saiga Have a great week!
  10. I'll be running a Burris FF2 on my S-12 on a side-rail mount when I find a used one for ~$150ish with the Rail-attachment. I run one on my Pistol and my Rifle. Good little optics. Muzzle brakes on shotguns can only be so useful. What you need are very large baffles, and the gas pressure and volume, to actually make use of the baffles. With a Rifle, it's easy, shotgun, not so much. Ideally, internal chokes, mid barrel comp, and something on the muzzle. BUT you will run into lots of tweaking issues and time sinks if you port/mid-barrel comp a gas operated gun. So be wary.
  11. You don't NEED a BG... BUT Hand-cycling, I'd get 1-2 jams from each mag w/o the guide. With it, none.
  12. If they get imported I'll buy one. Especially one with the folding stock. Even if it's $800.
  13. Either this statement it intended to be ironic, or you don't really have a concept of the forces that are in play in this dynamic system. Enlighten me Bob As far as I can tell all the forces on chambering are towards the barrel (Which the BG can't move in that direction because it's touching the barrel already) and all the forces on recoil are rearward, which, actually the BG would resist the recoil pulse, thus wanting to move forward again. IN fact, I'm thinking you don't need much to hold a BG in place. Maybe some double-sided tape? Nothing wants the BG to move backwards. All
  14. BINGO Schneiderman. in 1.6mm sheet metal too! That's what? 2 or 3 threads at the most? PSH.
  15. What does a screw do? Holds the Bullet guide down onto the receiver. What does JB Weld do? Holds the Bullet guide down onto the receiver. Sad thing is, I've had more screws back-out of holes than JB weld come off. . . . IN fact I've never had JB weld come off of ANYTHING on its own. There's a reason we loctite screws. IMO a screw is used so you can take something back off later. Otherwise super-glue/weld/jbweld it on. Krisfox, I support your experiment!
  16. Or shoot it alot. A rolling stone gathers no moss and a cycling gun gathers no rust.
  17. Ok you're right. Second time. I agreed once when you said we weren't going to continue a thread in the "fight club". To be honest, most of your posts are novels and I don't read the entire thing, so there is a possibility that there's something in one I've never read that I agree with. But man, I was being nice and civil to you. No need to start anything. Have a good night
  18. Cobra. Please re-read what I said. I think you misread it.
  19. I think this may be the first time I agree with Cobra. Alex is a top guy and I've spoken to him multiple times about his mid-barrel comp and the proper attachment. Mine works even with a regular length gas system. Here's the issue Boba. You got a gun, modified it and then complained it didn't work and then aired dirty laundry in an uncalled for fashion. Tell you what, buy a shotgun, modify it and then try to send it to Cadiz for warranty work. EVERY PLACE ON THIS FORUM it says to fire a gun before you modify it. Why would it be different in this case? If you buy a car, do you instantly
  20. PSH. the internals are pretty damn-AK like imo. I actually really enjoy shooting the 30.06. It feels better off-hand than the .308 v.21.... weird, i know. I just like the balance it has.... I've been thinking about taking the FSB off though.
  21. It's one of two Saigas I own that are never getting modified. The other is a .308 V.21 And yes, I NEEDED a 30.06 so I wouldn't feel my collection was lacking. So I bought one. It was worth it... I tried to make some BAR mags fit but it was to no avail. 4 rounds is all you get.
