  1. I thought the polymer Surefires were made for the Saiga w/no mods needed (& USA). I know the Master Molder mags need some VERY SLIGHT shaving of the underside Rear Catch only on the mag.(& USA) I use the MM's and there are no probs. ($10 - $13 depending where you get them) Surefire's are way too expensive, like $40 ea. ??
  2. I have to agree w/ nalioth...just changing a piston s/b ok if you decide to shoot w/ your orig. Russian mags. It's the guys that want to go 'evil' w/ PG or brakes etc. (lol) that have to be careful on 922r re-inserting their old mags. (3 foriegn parts).... Congrats on the new one by the way!
  3. Haven't hunted w/ mine yet, but I'm sure you can easily take deer or hogs w/ it. Personally, I prob. wouldn't try a shot much over 100 yds. w/ a Saiga - but that's me. Hogs have a tough membrane around thier vitals due to 'fighting' scar tissue - shoot for the head/neck or right at the shoulder - Not Behind
  4. Mine go bang every time. Put several hundred rds. thru so far no prob.
  5. Welcome Aboard Kevin! I know you're gonna Love your New baby...most of us here are, well, kinda addicted as you see...there's lots you can do later for upgrading, etc.... Oh, be sure to do a good cleaning before you go out the first time...also, I noticed my forearm and bbl got pretty hot when you fire it alot - that's why I slotted mine. (2-300 is no prob. - just take some breaks and I'd even swab the bbl w/ Hoppe's #9 every 50 rds. or so 1st time out) Good Luck!
  6. I think my 7.62 paperwork said it did 5" at 100 m (prob. just below where they pull them off the line....) I think they shoot them off a locked support, not hand held. And just ck grouping. I have bad eyes anyway - I use a scope and all I know is I can kill the enemy w/ just about Every shot at 100 yds. - even if it hits 4-5 in. from where I aim. Plus, using hi-cap mags - rapid fire is lethal 100% of the time.
  7. I've got a Mosin M44 Laminated - pretty nice rifle (refurbished - at AIM Surplus: http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/Russian...x54R_Rifle.html ) Still $79.95 !! I get my ammo at ammunitiontogo.com in bulk - Corrosive, but good stuff! Classic Arms also has some Nice Mosins and Ammo Pkgs. Added: Shit, I spend so much more on ammo every week for my guns than the COST of the M44, Everyone should have at least one! (or two, or three.....lol)
  8. Here is a source of some US parts for AK's as well as some forigen parts too: http://www.gunaccessories.com/AK47/index.asp Not sure if that helps, but... I'm still wondering what Stock you're trying to mount to the Rreciever block?
  9. Are you just needing the Block & PG ? What Stock are you gonna mount to it? Sorry, I don't know of anyone but ACE for those, but someone here may have them lying around to sell you if ACE is 'Out' like you said in the PM. I think there is another source of the SAW grip made in USA - I forgot the name of the co., I'll try to find it in my favs. and let you know.
  10. I guess your lucky you didn't blow your ass up...are u sure you want to try again? Added: Gonna say it again - there is a bunch of 'dumb ass' 'You tube' type newbies here all of a sudden. Sorry, just what I'm seeing. I know it wasn't his fault...but talking to some of these guys, I wonder.....
  11. Yea, nailer, we all know about that Vid, we're the one's who had him modify it to talk about 922r compliance. You still have to Drill & Dremel with that...my proposal is just 'Bolt On' using the ACE Folder/PG (or any USA PG/Stock combo. (there are some others)
  12. These guys are...well, just fucking dumb.... I'm sorry..we all got the kits and shit come on.... this batch of new kids here are just idiots, sorry.
  13. How did we get 'screwed'?? My cleaning rod is 'LONG', I just didn't get the 'Tampons' (I guess you got a 'Female' Saiga....lol
  14. Yep..same w/ mine. Added: kit did come w/ a cleaning rod for the bore.
  15. A good 'rough' rule of thumb on 7.62x39 ammo...(always verify w/ your ammo & gun) Zero at about 20 yds. : 100 yds = +~ 3.5" 200 yds = 0 300 yds = -~ 14" 400 yds = -~ 44" 500 yds = -~ 95" Energy would still so some serious human damage at 500, but I wouldn't try 'game' hunting past 150 personally w/ my 7.62 Saiga (just me, I'm sure some of you are more confident out to 200 or so w/ yours)
  16. Did you read what we posted? Yes, I did. I was making a general statement so as not to point any one out, and also to show folks who may see this thread in the future that it is from 2004. I agree, lol...and I feel sorry for guido2 - (guido (1)) joins in 2004 and takes his name and makes all of 2 Posts...lol....and this whole thread is uprooted by a newbie (toner) ...lol
  17. lol, thats actually kinda funny!! it's cool that the prices have not changed in 4 years tho!! Yea, would have thought they'd gone up alot more ... better grab them now while u can ($249 still at Classic Arms (7.62) !! I see the .308 has already gone up there....won't be long people....shits a comin'...I can smell it. O'bama .. or Worse Yet...H&B...(almost a done Deal Now) unlike S&B...one my fav. suppliers of fine ammo. Again, 'toner' strikes and uproots another 2004 post!
  18. Yea, your 'legal' if you use any USA Stock / PG and any USA mag.
  19. I'm not real sure about that...maybe, but it's so preventable, it was obviously something that really shouldn't have happened...to me it almost makes it worse....they knew better, just f****'d up...in their own house, That has to be devastating to the family - I think they might be possilbly ready (not ever really) for the possibility of an 'on the job' situation...but at home, cleaning...has to be unexpected.
  20. Not really, just wear them...and don't for get your Ear Protection.... very important. there are some good ones and some other really good stuff you might like here.... http://www.actiongear.com/cgi-bin/tame.exe...2Fresults%2Etam
  21. Damn, I see a Flood of Newbs Lately, What's Up? Take off the screws (3) and PULL. (1 is under your dust cover)... and to answer your next question....Yes, you can put on a PG Legally (if you have the right parts count, 'cause it's Now an Assualt Rifle.... And Yes you can use 30 rd. mags. following the 'correct' parts count. We Love you, girls (and guys) ...Welcome to the forum....!
  22. Very Nice Shooter, Congrats & Welcome to the forum!
  23. If you are talking about the Tapco Stocp w/ PG, all you do is remove the old stock and bolt it on - it fits all the saigas. But, since you added a PG, you now must comply w/ 922r - meaning no more than 10 Foriegn parts (off the compliance list). The bottom line with that setup is that you'll now have to replace 3 more parts w/ US parts. You would be legal if you use the US Master Molder mags ( or the US surefires) (3 parts). Or you could do the conversion to get those extra parts if you wanted to.
  24. Doubt that devildog, it could have taken his face off....not something I'd want to try as a prank just to diss an AK...stuff happens w/ guns....if you're not very, very careful...hell peace officer was just killed here cleaning his pistols in at his kitchen table...and we've had 2 killed recently at rifle ranges here (Houston)....guns are unforgiving sometimes....Always Dilegent and Careful Is My Motto. Safety First....These guys were prob. asking for it....
  25. Yeah, It's Real.......Real Fuc***n Bad. He's lucky it didn't take part of his head off. Looks like he had a FTE, then a a round was forced into it and ...Boom! Lucky ...., prob. they were playing w/ some captured weapons....having fun on full auto....who knows how that gun was treated in it's life, plus what ammo they were using....it could happen w/ any rifle.....watch out.
