  1. Thanks for the review. I was going to buy one from renegadebuck but i backed out once i saw the thread about the guy who broke his trunnion. I am familiar with dremel and AK builds but that really spoked me. I have to say that renegadebuck was a perfect gentleman refunding my prepay with no issues. If i ever get the nerve up to do this mod his will be the one I use. thanks again pics would be great.
  2. couple of suggestions: The Utg quad rail you describe cannot float the barrel as it does seem to use the barrel and gas tube to hold itself in place. you may have another UTG product in mind. first definitely check to make sure the handguard is snug and not loose. Next it may be too tight. When in stalling mine i found that if i tighten the screw down all the way the gas tube was putting allot of pressure and creating friction on the gas piston which i am sure affects accuracy. I tighten the screw in and alternating method starting at one corner and tighten screws same amo
  3. This is the best set up i have found. don't have to worry about any type of failures or extra weight. I thought about going back to blade but after switching back ad forth the peep was still the best for me. Its seems to be the best combo for quick sight acquisition under stress situations and decent bench shooting with practice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UKeRaZSAKA
  4. Thanks guys i appreciate it. I figured this and may the glock talk forum would be a good place to find some help as i thought there would be a bunch of members from AZ. So far no one has posted a peep. No worries it i am sure everyone is busy with there own shit. It was pretty hard for me to admit i need any and or all help but a mans got to do what a mans got to do to get life moving in a positive not. this experience sure is teaching me humility and compassion. I have been checking out the criagslist rentals stuff but its kind of difficult not being to meet people face to face. I am g

  8. All right i finally got up enough cash to cover my living expenses for about 6 months. I am planing on moving at the latest by Nov. to avoid nasty weather here in Maryland. I am so tired of the humid summer and cold winter i can't wait to get back to AZ. Its my kind of place gun friendly state and i can ride my motorcycle all year. I have really been looking at surprise but would consider any place. I would like to stretch my savings as much as possible so if anyone knows someone who is looking to share a house please pass them my way so we can see if we would be compatible. i am

  11. if you go to the link of pics you will see that it is the safety lever with the notch cut out but the extended tab that was on it fell off. (I am waiting for scoutjoe to get back to me on this item) http://cid-a85561b883981c96.photos.live.com/browse.aspx/AK%20stuff

  14. post 1000 yard hits with 7.62 x39? know thats impressive.
  15. I agree with Datastick but for my old eyes the XS 24/7 front post replacement finished it off. i can use the OEM front post but my eyes seem to like the bigger front of the XS post. The neat thing is that you can do the purchases a little at a time and they will never have a battery go dead.
  16. Snuffy,, what is your take on the SGM vs. the tapco intrafuse front hand guard? The DPH is was out of my budget. again my concerns are the heat dissipation and melting of the hand guard under rapid fire. do either have heat shield? I have heard that the SGM has the edge but not having had the either in front of me I am always trying to gain as much info as possible. thanks in advance. Paul
  17. Snuffy, I just read through the thread again and i think we were all misunderstanding you. I get it you are referring to the fact that the UTG actually rests on the barrel and when you bench shoot it could be putting upward pressure on the barrel.... Man how long did that take ti sink in!!! The SGM hand guard attaches the same as the OEM and may put some upward pressure upon bench shooting but not directly on the barrel itself. I figured the adjustments to the POI as the elevation difference of the bottom of each of the front hand guards is significant. This weekend i
  18. remember these triggers need to be broken in. take your time and shoot lots of ammo. let the surface friction do its job. I had one that i did a polish job to and after several 1000 rounds it has gotten so touchy that it gives me shoulder mounted bump fire. i am not saying that is all a bad thing but doesn't go over well at the range. i don't like to waste the ammo anyway so take your time and shot it before you file or polish.
  19. it would probably be easier to ask for or go buy ten bullets. you already have the spent cases. fill with sand and press bullets down to over all length and crimp case mouth with pliers. since your just using them form stripper clip training it should matter what they look like. heck look around where you are shooting if you can (outdoor range) as i am sure a some of those bullets haven't deformed.
  20. hamerforged.... I am on the fence with the ar mag adapter as The thread about the trunnion failure has me worried. I don't have a ton of cash so the rifles i do have need to work. I can't afford having something go wrong with the receiver. It would be cheaper to have a mag fail. It looks like i can pick up some cheap 5.45 and .223 mags for the price of an adapter.
  21. well finally had the chance to take the newly converted .223 to the range today. My son-in-law didn't want the gun any more so i picked it up cheap. What a hoot!!!!! I haven't shot a .223 in about 15 to 20 years. My first impression was where is the recoil. Lot of noise but what a super soft shooter. took about 10 rounds to get it dialed in at the 25 yard range then another 15 to get myself slightly low and little left at 100 yds. I stopped as i wanted to save what concentration i had left for my 7.62. I will get it fine tuned next outing. Perma grin easy to shoot...light... a 22
  22. christcorp....glad you reposted your question. After i posted my last response i started thinking the same thing. The barrel really isn't free floating. The other attachment point (gas tube) really isn't a hard attachment point (for lack of better term) as the gas tube probably flexes with the barrel. It may actually hinder with the barrel whip by create more downward force or make the barrel stiffer with the gas piston in place . I any event i don't know if the UTG would have that much of an effect. I hope others will way in. Maybe we should start another post asking for more informati
