  1. Oh shit. I read it again. He said he was hitting to the right.
  2. gray = Barrel red line = bullet travel red/black circle = front sight blue circle = target green v = rear sight moved to right black line = new sight line with rear sight now to the right of barrel centerline
  3. Rear sight must move right. With a stock 109 the barrel direction and line of sight will both pivot at one point. The front bead. Surely some student taking trig right now could chime in with exactly how far the rear sight needs to move. I'm too lazy to figure it out. Of course the shooter will want to consider the effect of crosswinds on the day he got his groups to the left, before making changes.
  4. Don't you got that backward? I thought it was move the front sight the way its off, move the rear the way you want it to move. I finally decided to forget about trying to remember all that, which way goes where to do what. Too easy to get it mixed up. The front bead here is fixed. Nothing to change there. Best to exaggerate the change. Shoulder the shotgun. Make a peace sign V with your fingers and hold it to the right side of the rear notch. Make believe this is now your new rear sight. Now line up your new sight to the front like you're normally taking aim. While you're doing
  5. You got a 109 right? Maybe yours was just sighted in after happy hour at the Izmash factory is all. Forget your sight blocks for now and try taking a hammer and a brass punch and drift the rear sight over a little in the dovetail. 8" in 100m may not take much. There is a reference peen on mine that can be used for a guide. You will want to move the V notch over to the right (safety selector) side.
  6. Is there anyone else here that has become addicted to this stupid game? Still working through the single player mode on my 62" high def. Awesome. If you have the luxury of having some time to kill throw this in the kid's Xbox360 when nobody's looking and go mall ninja. Could be fun to get an online account and frag or be fragged with some of the folks around here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Far_Cry_2 FYI these are ingame shots.
  7. Of course it is all speculation at this point in time, but your comments do bring up a question that has been puzzeling me. In your scenario how are they to prove when the conversion was done? Do you suppose that they will expect registration? Is that how it went down prior to the first AWB? I understand the situation for the commercial builder, but what about all the people that have already legally built up an AK kit from a flat? As I read the law there is no requirement for registration for personal ownership of a presently legal home-built firearm. With the exception of if it is later
  8. You could have gone with the premium Saiga IZ-108 "Woody" with factory wood furniture and an adjustable ribbed sight, but they are extremely rare and highly coveted by the few lucky enough to own one.
  9. True it is a joke of a stock for a 12ga shotgun, and true I am glad they spent as little $ as possible in that area. 139 posts and this is the first time you handled a stock S12? Umm, how bout less talky-talky, and more converty-converty. Just messin with ya dude.
  10. I don't see why it wouldn't work If you were careful to only take off the minimal amount of material that is necessary. You could probably get away with using a drill press as a mill in this situation to be more precise. I used a sharp wood chisel on the inside at the mounting bolt lug to make a shallow indention in the plastic tri-rail because the lug was preventing the grip from being parallel to the barrel when I looked at it closely. Stuff like that annoys me if I am aware of it. That material is tough no doubt, but somewhat brittle. Although it kind of defeats the purpose of the botto
  11. Dude, that thing is just...just... EPIC Right now I'm thinking of some sort of goth-motif Saiga devolution worthy of Vlad the Impaler. +1 to your creative mind and technical skill.
  12. If you get the ACE folding stock get the 1" thick butt pad. Nice to have when shooting slugs.
  13. I try not to think about it. I'm like number 8,001 or some shit like that...
  14. Very nice! It looks like its made out of the same material that they use for Contico storage boxes. A 5x8 sheet of Agrip should make it complete.
  15. I was wondering about the Norinco MAK-90, do they have that slash cut in the receiver, or is it a normal AK that I could put a standard stock on?
  16. I liked the looks of this Norinco MAK-90, but didn't bid on it. Prices move around so quickly ($417+30) anymore that info on the web is out of touch 6 months later. I'm just wondering what the pros and cons are with this AK.
  17. Thanks for the compliments, means a lot coming from the likes of you all! Finally took her out for her first trip to the trap range today. Ran like a champ. The Saiga did that is. But I still need some work!
  18. Nice job. You will be able to get a UTG side mount on there no problem. I have the same setup on my 109. I don't know yet how it will act when firing folded. Need a range report.
  19. That plum stock looks cool! Nice job.
  20. Sure is. It is one that has a removable 1/4" pilot bit that I was able to replace with an extra long 1/4" bit. I had to modify the shank in a drill press to take it down to 1/4" diameter so I could use the drill extension. It cuts through easy and fast and the wood doesn't deflect it much that I noticed. Too fast not to have a jig to maintain control. The long drill bit has a slight amount of flex if you want to purposely deflect it, that you can use to your benefit when opening up the handguard. I used a drill stop to limit the cutting depth. Ream a little, test fit, repeat. If anyone ha
  21. No, it's rattle free. fits snug actually. I got lucky. I didnt want to modify the exterior at all so it would look factory. all the relief was done internally. Therefore to install it you have to slide it down the barrel and give it a couple reasonable smacks to get the rear tongue to insert. I made sure the tongue was tapered a bit oversize. Also the front gas block just happens to be the correct size for the upper opening so it sits tight against the block as you can see in the pics. The only dubious part is the forward sling mount that I installed just to fill the hole. That's where it
  22. Heck yes! Stop on by, I'll invite Wonder Woman and Batgirl. She's at least 18 by now. P.S. Don't invite Beta Billy Ray this time, he's a friggin drunk. -------------- Yep, wood from a .308 Big thanks goes out to Cobra for showing that it can be done. Gimmie a sec and I'll post some pics.
