Mossberg 500s on the Cheap
devildogdakota replied to Boba Debt's topic in General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!
If I could've went back, I would've got the 590a instead of the 500. The 590 has a slightly thicker barrel (which I remember the heat shield won't fit on like the 500) has ghost ring sights (which I wished I had. They make a heat shield with sights mounted on, but are plastic), steel trigger guard, and bayonet lug. Other than that, they're identical. I wish somebody made a heavyduty heat shield with steel ghost sights built in. -

The front of the stock folder rails are spring compressed. You have to squeeze the rails together and they unlock so it folds up. Same thing with deploying it. Locks rock solid in both positions. What did your's interfer with? -
Damn wolves are more than taking care of the elk pop. here, bastards. I have a chance now to put the hit out on a few wolves at a rancher's place near by. Really looking forward to it. www.saveelk.com Good site, thanks for posting. Here's a picture of one of the two wolves that the rancher I was talking abouts wife killed. They have a small pack of them harrassing their cattle.

Cheek slap really sucks. I was shooting mine with the Knoxx folder two weeks ago with 3" mags. First shot smacked my cheek and potato peeled the inside of my right cheek with my upper teeth. Was spittin' out nice little mouthfuls of blood. I'm thinking about putting skinny little foam pipe insulators on the rails of my folder. -
What a friggin moron.Disgruntled meat eater? I know the price of meat at Walmart ain't cheap, but c'mon! I worked with a guy origionally from Gardiner that told me years ago, some guy walked right out in the street on Main St. and shot a bull elk that was on the sidewalk, and gutted it out when a cop came over to arrest him. They called FWP, and they let the guy go, who had his license to hunt, and even let him keep the elk! He said the guy was charged with discharging a firearm within city limits. Sounds like kind of a happy ending to me! I've been through that town before. Th

We'd only be taking back that which we pay for (in the taxes we pay). As a tax payer, myself nor anyone else I know approved these tyrannical agencies to use OUR money to buy this ammunition that WILL be used against us! I stand my ground on my statement (even though it was for humorous intent initally, but now having typed this, we need that "Oceans 11" team.)!

Emergency Food

Another golden item to have is a Country Living grain mill. Built in USA. A little pricey, but having the ability to grind all your grains, (seeds, wheatberries, corn, rice, beans, oats, barley, ect...) is worth its weight in gold. I don't have one yet, but will this year. No electricity involved. They have a power bar handle attachment that turns everything to flour, as well as a large grooved pulley that you can hook up to a bicycle or a small motor. Breads, pancakes, muffins, crackers, ect... The possibilities are endless. They can be had for under $450.00. Also, check out home made so -
Emergency Food

Honey sure has gotten expensive in the last year or so hasn't it! I get the large containers from food workers supply stores. Another cool thing about some grains such as red winter wheat berries, is you can "SUPERCHARGE" your vitamins by soaking them for a day and letting them sprout before eating them. You can get many many times the vitamins of the original wheat berry by doing this and it still tastes great! Yea, honey has gone through the roof. Smith's grocery store here has case lots deals 3-4 times a year for big bulk items. I picked up my cases of honey there, and the price -
MUST Have!! :-)

Awesome! Just gotta get some flaming effect coming off the ends like the flames that come outta the fake logs of those electric fireplaces, and some giant speakers in the back of the pickup with some gatlin gun noise played from the sterio system. That should surely keep them tail gaters back, especially if the truck is nicely lifted! -
Hot or Not? (Bayonet)

Not trying to hijack the thread, but I bought one of these Warthog V-Sharp Classic II knife sharpeners at a gunshow three months ago. I always saw the same guy selling these at every gunshow for years. He would stop everyone passing by and ask if he could sharpen their knife for them. Man, this baby is the Mercedes Benz of sharpeners. I have many sharpeners, diamond sticks and stones of various grit, but this sucker trumphs them all, and in a miniscule amount of time! -

I'm a big fan of 500's myself. Got my "truck (shot)gun" and my short work home defense battle set up. Mossbergs are way under priced, in my opinion. Made in USA, built really stout, and rediculously customizeable. I was on a mission when I built the 500 in the lower picture. I wanted to really trick one out, and she's what I came up with. I'm like you Boba, always building/ modifyin'/improvising / adapting/ overcoming.....ect... on anything, living or not! Talkin' about the buttstock bolt, I misplaced mine on the PG gripped one a couple years back, and bought a stainless one for around a -
SAF To The Rescue

Hats off to Andrew Gottleib and the SAF! For a bunch of years, I quit patronizing the NRA, due to some of the shit, and people they supported. I've been SAF and The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms for years (GOA also). Good for them to help that guy get his gun back -
Emergency Food

I have an Excaliber 9 tray dehydrater that I use to dry tons of fruits, veggies, and meats that are sealed up in several dozens of Mylar bags with oxygen absorbers, as well as different cereal grains. I've got tons of canned foods, but if I had to leave the homestead in a hurry, grabbing my totes that are filled up with the sealed Mylar bags of dehydrated foods weigh much, much less, and there is a whole lot more food, also none of the preservatives, and just about all of the vitamins are retained, unlike canned foods. I figure most of my staple diet during SHTF/ TEOTWAWKI will be stews -

I just wouldn't put it past these filthy tyrannical jack booted thugs to have their "planted" weapons/ explosives with them, just to bully their authority around, and make examples out of citizens. That's why I'm a firm believer in multiple hidden security cameras with night vision, to catch these bastards if they ever "plant" items in a home raid. I also believe a law should be set in place where the ATF must be accompanied by minimum of a couple of local sheriffs during these raids. I love hearing about the stories now and then where the Sheriffs have made it public that they wil

I thought farmers from New York planted bricks in their gardens, and grew buildings, and they never had to use compost or manure because of the abundance of liberals that inhabit that area? I'm just half in the bag, and messin' with ya, Yeoldtool! -

Same with the "Quaken Aspen" groves. My ole' lady has acreage in the Gravellies which is loaded with aspens. Dead of winter, the snow is melted in a long wavy line where the aspens are, and theres a green hue where the snows gone. Lots of springs pumping close to the surface. Best places to find elk shed horns also. I'm going shed hunting next week! -

You could spray the whole thing down with CLP and let it soak for a solid day then wipe it down. I've done it before, and works like a champ.
