  1. As others said, the occasional bolt hang is fairly common. Thorough cleaning and lots of shooting will fix you right up. The inherent qualities of the Yugo builds far outweigh that issue. Is this the Yugo with the "bulged" RPK recvr - the bulges at the barrel trunnion? If so, they are not as common as they once were. Now they are often seen with the slick-side recvrs, which are still correct for a Yugo.
  2. Hello all, As the subject line says, does anyone out there make a basic, utilitarian, non-sporty/swoopy/curvy 2-piece stock set for an unconverted SAIGA rifle? Hate the montecarlo looking curvy plastic on there now, and I have enough AKs with pistolgrips - and just want a non-sporty SAIGA in 2-pc wood. Thanks!
  3. +1 to the Thanks! Always wanted to see that up close, as I too want that reversibility.
  4. Thanks for the rumor squelch guys! The bloke that told me this has been dead-on with the scuttlebut so far, maybe his antennae got crossed this time around. It wasn't like he was trying to sell Saigas at all - he had none and I have one already, just passing some time BS'ing.
  5. Not trying to stir up anything, just wanted to confirm what I heard from an FFL (who has so far proven to be a freakin Nostradamus when it comes to events we have been facing since last october) that Saigas will be cut off from importation very soon. He wasn't specific as to who decides to stop, just the old get one while you can warning. FWIW, I have mine and he had none to sell at the time, plus, he has been correct more times than not. Anyone else hear this rumor?
  6. He's wanting to convert a Saiga, not a muslim. (just couldn't help myself) Priceless...
  7. No, I'll be another to say my Saiga 16" 7.62x39 is one fine shooter just as it is, 10rd mag and all.
  8. Its been exactly that which has driven the Saigas out of stock and at escalating prices. it took me months to get mine - but I can't complain, 16", dimpled, and with the Y stamp. Anytime I've ever seen a "which AK should I get" post - someone opens their mouth about the cheap, $200.00 Saiga and how easy it is to convert. Now they can't be found. You Saiga fans are victems of your own success.
  9. 'vujade' asked i know the race isn't over yet but i like to plan for the worst case... =Its not over until next Wednesday! Encourage everyone you know to vote McCain! i wasn't into guns nor politics when clinton was president. all i know is that he banned lots of stuff until 2004 and stopped importation of arms from china. what was it like living in those dark times? =Well not to sound like a Democrat, but the economy was better... And as sad as this sounds, money will get you thru times of no guns better than guns will get you thru times of no money. Unless you are a robber.
  10. Thanks! Do you know his phone #? I will call him ASAP! Steve from PIT m4a375w@yahoo.com Edit - Nevermind, I caught up with Tom - nothing. Any one else anywhere in Northern Ohio, Ypsi areas??
  11. But I'm short on available time in the area before I have to return, and I wanted the widest possible audience ASAP... Does anyone know of ANY retailers or private party anywhere between Ypsilanti, MI and Pittsburgh, PA that has a 16" 7.62x39 Saiga for sale? I have had no luck finding one so far in my Ypsi-to-PIT road trip and I will be returning to PIT soon. Thanks so much for looking, and pardons please for me not hiding this in a WTB post. PS: I did try searching the sales forums for "Ohio", but search would not work at all for me.
  12. Mandatory Saiga content; This will be my next rifle. I don't have a dog in this fight as I still live in Free America, but meanwhile; "Cannot ship to residents or those with billing addresses in Chicago (IL), Cook County (IL), Cincinnati (OH), Cleveland (OH), CA, DC, MA, NY, NJ, HI" - the folks in these locales need to get out there and get politically active. Personaly, I wish ALL firearms dealers/wholesalers/mfgs would withold ALL firearms-related anything sales to ANY GOVT ENTITY in ANY of these locales. I'd rather see the GOVT punished than the citizens.
  13. FWIW... I have two "pistol cal rifles". Have one of those semi-only .45ACP TSMGs. Its an original Auto-Ordnance made 1927A1 "Deluxe"; looks like a 1928 Commercial TSMG with Cutts comp, verticle foregrip, 50rd drum. In recent years, Kahr Arms bought out A-O. They still make the guns, but with many cosmetic imrovements to make it look more realistic, and now offer one with a detachable butt, like the originals. And for those who can get an NFA sign-off - a factory SBR to look even MORE realistic. Its a hoot to shoot, but sadly not full auto. But then, the drum would empty faster
  14. Anyone know of a pro/con FAQ - or have pro/con opinions - as to which of these 2 Saiga rifles to consider over the other, a .223 or a 7.62x39? I'm just a range-toy plinker and already have other rifles in both calibers, but was wondering which of these 2 Saiga rifles makes the most sense in terms of future hi-cap conversion issues, availability of hi-cap mags, parts, etc. TIA!
