  1. Freedom optics for $198 shipped. Got mine a few weeks ago.
  2. I am finishing up a conversion and had a bit of an issue with the pg nut. I made the hole the same as I had on a 74 I have. The nut that went with that rifle fit fine. When I received a new nut in the mail, it was like the second diagram you show and although it did fit in the hole straight, it did not fit at the angle it was supposed to rest at. You might have to file the nut down a little to fit. I ran mine through a belt sander. Looks cleaner than it did when I got it!
  3. I'm not sure by the way you say it if it's the drag or the PSL that you don't like in regards to lighter loads, but I know the PSL does not hold up well over time with heavy ball.
  4. Funny, I just pulled a few parts out of the toaster oven.... Cooling next to me right now. I use Rustoleum textured paint as it matches Bulgarian paint very well.
  5. Damn Vjor, you are a wealth of information! I appreciate it, and when I get some time, head out and get some scrap parts to practice on.
  6. I've seen on some other forums people using silver solder for joining FSB's to gas tubes. Is the shock factor of the 12GA a consideration against using silver solder for something like HK type sights? I don't have welding equipment, but I have a maap torch.
  7. The lug is part of the front sight, this ad is for the flash hider.
  8. He's asking about the device, not the person, GARY! Is it a timer the RSO has to click or is more advanced to where it times and counts the shots to give an exact number?
  9. I'm not bashing them. I'm just saying one of those parts are backordered so it would be wise for the next two weeks to get the "big three" from another vendor until they are in stock. I'm not new to building, and I have had stuff sent in from all over.
  10. I ordered an Ace stock, hinge, and receiver block directly off the Ace site for a Saiga conversion. I received two emails, the second one said "processing" and that I "will not receive another email" Email also stated I would receive the items in no more than 5 business days. Well, I call them to tell them my order has not arrived. (And I know I had not been billed) and they said one of the parts are on backorder for two weeks. **Thanks for telling me this.** I cancelled my order. I was a little on the fence with getting a side folder, and I guess this pushed me into getting a s
  11. I own both, and prefer the Tantal. Why? Because I can fold the Tantal open and closed every time with ease in LESS than 1 second, without taking my hand off the pistol grip or forearm and the action is the same to open and close it. I built mine from a used kit and it locks up with absolutely no movement. The Russian/Bulgarian triangle folder requires removing a hand from the ready position to close, and again at a different hinge point to open. Also, an important consideration is if you want to use optics... The Bulgy folds left, the Tantal folds right, so the Tantal has the

I know this post is a year old, and checking the site, it's now $2.99 per box. Is this still the best deal around or is there somewhere else? I can order from gtdist.
  13. Out of stock, and out of stock :0(
  14. Looking for the russian forearm with lower rail.
  15. That's a great deal. Too bad I just made a bunch of orders :0(
  16. I came into the game pretty late, and REALLY lucked out getting a new one for the price I paid. People complaining at $475! That's as good as it will get at this point.
  17. 80% is the max before it becomes a completed part. There has to be a line somewhere. An 80% ak receiver is one that is bent, but has no holes, and no rails welded on. Usually they are made so that they can be finished by people with less tooling. The 80% is more of a benefit on the creators end because it keeps them from having to do any licensing. (No mfg & ffl transfer fees) I went the 80% route once on an ak receiver and probably wont do it again. Much less of a headache, and it's easier to resell.
  18. How it looks through the scope is more important than how it looks on the rifle. Some posp's are offset to the left, but most are centered over. Your scope choice should depend on the rifle you are mounting it too. Do you have any red dot sights? The kobra's run in the same price rangle as the scopes, and may provide a little more function, and still "look cool"
  19. That's a great deal. Was it a private sale, or from a shop? If it's a shop, wanna send me a link? That's one I don't yet have.
  20. Cycling under sounds crazy to me. Over the top, the mag isn't in your way. Also the rotation is more comfortable for the right wrist. Under is quite fast, even without the tilt.
  21. You don't. Russian Ak parts are very very hard to get in the US. However, you can buy a Bulgarian AKS-74 kit and steal the rear end out of it (build you a nice fixed stock 5.45 rifle out of the front end) or You can pay big bucks to k-var and get a rear section + front latch from there. I have the triangle stock on my aks-74u. That's what the thing was designed for, not a shotgun! You need some form of shock absorbtion on a 12ga. Ace or Lage is the way to go. I have the Ace comming in the mail, but the mounting is the same so if you get the receiver block, and the fo
  22. Sometimes the mapquest point in not 100% accurate. I found Freedom optics to have what I was looking for and they will beat any advertised price including buy it now type auctions.
  23. I was looking at a few different vendors for a scope and as soon as I saw this on the Freedom optics website... "Lowest Price Guarantee If you have seen a lower verifiable advertised price (including "Buy It Now" auction prices) from another online store for the same item in the same condition in stock in the United States, bring it to our attention, and we'll gladly beat their price." The choice was pretty clear, and they were cheaper than the others...
  24. I'm sorry you have to deal with all this bs for a simple question. I've built a few AK's and the bolt cutter rivet former is the easier (cheap) way to go for the front trunnion, but they don't work with long rivets like many ak's have in the rear trunnion. If your not equiped to make a rivet tool from bolt cutters, you won't have the tooling for the rest of the rivets. I suggest doing the build with screws. Many people go this route if they don't have the shop or space to do it. A benefit is down the road if you do get more equipment, you could go back and rivet if that's your thing.
