  1. It's really easy to do it yourself and you'll gain a much better understanding of how your rifle functions. To pull it off though you're going to need more than just the furniture though. You'll need a new trigger group due to the fact that the stock grouping is made to compenstate for moving the trigger back to where the factory stock is (Tapco G2 is pretty popular and works great, also fairly cheap). I also suggest a retainer plate to hold everything in place, also pretty cheap. The only tools you'll need are a screw driver, punch and hammer (to get the pins out of the receiver to instal
  2. commonly referred to as CrapCo. For a reason. Can't go wrong with the G2 FCG, however.
  3. And to think, this same time last year I grabbed a NIB x39 for $250. Glad I did. Good luck with your searching.....persevere long enough and I'm sure you make out ok.
  4. I have no idea what the hell you are talking about. Punctuation and proper spelling goes a long way.
  5. Are those Bulgarian waffles? If so, I have a question. You had the gumption to drill a bullet guide and file the mag catch, but not enough to knock out some pins and drop in a new FCG? If that's the case, you should seriously dump that stock/PG monstrosity and do the conversion. Those things are ugly as sin, and trust me....the feel of a new trigger is fantastic.
  6. K-VAR is of much higher quality. Military grade.
  7. When did the SVD become an AK? Since when was it not an Ak? I've always thought of it as an Ak with a different gas system and furnature. It's as much an Ak as a Galil is haha The FCG mechanics on the SVD are completely different from the Kalashnikov family of rifles. The Romanian PSL is more like an AK. It looks like an SVD, but functions like an AK.
  8. Owners of firearms that ignore existing regulations give lawmakers reason to create more regulations.
  9. Hey guys, it's been awhile. Last spring I converted my 7.62x39 to PG configuration. I have owned one of Dinzag's bullet guides for that same amount of time, but never got around to installing it due to lack of a drill press (I want to do this right...no hand drilling for me). Lately I've been stocking up on comm-block mags, but have no use for them without my bullet guide and mag catch filed. I have a buddy with a drill press and I'm going to put that puppy in there some time soon. Which leads me to my question. On my guide, it seems that the hole is not centered in the guide, that it
  10. Cheaper, more plentiful, and standardized. If SHTF and you are running around on the "battlefield" and need specific mags for your Saiga, you are going to be out of luck in most cases. Any commie mag will do with a bullet guide and filed catch. Think about it...how many Saiga magazines do you see for sale at your local FFL? Not many.
  11. Get them all if you can afford them. You can always re-sell them if you really don't need them.
  12. I haven't tinkered with my FCG for quite awhile and have had a couple beers this evening, but I noticed that you do not have your spring installed. Throw that bad boy in there and it should lift your FCG up enough for the lever to clear it. Either that or find the "sweet spot" when putting it in.
  13. What kind of gas tube are you using? I've heard that lots of mil-surp commie tubes are too large. I purchased a Bulgarian ported tube from K-VAR and it works out great. Still gotta jiggle to find the sweet spot, but you'll have that.
  14. 70 bucks?!?!?! Holy shit you are a lucky SOB.
  15. K-VAR has 5 round mags right here.
  16. Snopes has known to be less then credible for quite awhile now. Nothing new here.
  17. Definitely remove it. That way, you'll have more of an incentive to put a REAL buttstock on later!
  18. I bought my second Saiga for $250 with no dimples or Y. However, these rifles are getting harder and harder to find, especially the military styled receivers. Get it while you can.
  19. Paintball is a game that uses toy guns. Why would you want to put a toy part on a real firearm?
  20. That is a 103 style folding stock. More than likely it is from K-VAR.
