I'm looking for a rail forearm for my 103K and like the looks of the Ultimak standard rail - anyone have one? fit, weight, etc. Also considering UTG (I know) but would like to not use the gas tube cover if anyone has experience with either.

This is a Krebs conversion on a Saiga 12 - It has been stripped, welded, and re-finished by Krebs. The quality of the work is first rate, anyone that has been around AK's for long can tell you their quality is among the best if not the best - you just pay for it. Probably 75-200 rounds shot through it with no problems. It took about 8 months to get as I wanted them to install the ACE sidefolder there. It was pretty spendy and dificult to get them to install it and I guess they are not offering this service anymore for ACE sidefolders but, I wanted it documented in case of Legislation. It comes

I think that the Black Diamond finish is just a D.L.C. process.

I had the same question...I'm assuming that we are not going to get an extra current spring now, and just get an additional with the "new and improved" spring update?

Good competition ear protection? (MUFFS)
vspdave replied to vspdave's topic in The Competitor's Corner / TEAM SAIGA
Yeah I agree plugs are the way to go - its just when shooting large rifles or SBR's indoors you can feel your ears taking a big hit. Just curious to what muffs did not get it the way with tac style shoots. -
First off I know a lot of you guys use plugs but a lot of the time indoors that just does not cut it. I need to replace my shagged out earmuffs and found out that there is whole lot of options out there... anyone have a recommendation for something that can take a beating and does not get in the way?

Need Rec. conversion shop SAIGA 7.62x39
vspdave replied to vspdave's topic in Saiga Rifle Conversions
Bummer..I have an AkUSA AK103K that I purchased for sub $600 awhile back (without correct FSB) and looking at the parts used I figured Sub $200 in parts and 3-5 hours in labor $200-$300 would do another one. Looks like Vector it is! I would like to build one but my business sucks up too many hours right now -
I have a friend that almost bought a century POS and I told him to just get a converted Saiga - problem is that the shops that I have dealt with are either too expensive or real busy. Who would you reccomend for a basic (AK103 style) conversion that would be timely and priced right ($200-$300)?

Can you supply a Pic?

I would say that most of the people I speak to outside the "AK" crowd seem to regognize Krebs more versus Tromix. Though its true Tromix is unmatched for Saiga 12 conversions. I have been collecting AK's for about seven years and really don't remember hearing much about Tromix and AK type weapons until their Saiga 12 conversions - though I did know of them for Valmet magazine conversions. Really was more AKusa and Krebs for quality conversions. I have builds by both and they have their positives and negatives - different objectives on their builds. That being said you would probably h

Plate carrier vest for competition?
vspdave replied to vspdave's topic in The Competitor's Corner / TEAM SAIGA
Yeah I'm having the same problem with a carrier for AGP 10 Rd Mags. I need to look back at the Vest guys site as its been awhile and it was a bit thin last I checked (long time) You can find these Blackwater vest for $50-$60 right now! -
What do you guys think of using one on the cheap Blackwater plate carrier vest with the huge Molle areas available, to custom tune your rig for different shoots? Its not very heavy and looks well made - you may not get any style points though.

Tromix handgaurd vs. Tromix modified Tapco Galil handgaurd
vspdave replied to elvis christ's topic in Saiga-12
My Tromix handguard has a moderate amount of slop in it. Both at the lower receiver engagement area and flex in the stamped forward retainer. Don't know if this is normal? Did I get a lemon? I should be able to get it pretty tight if I can figure out a permanent (and sano) way of shiming handguard to receiver area. -
I was not having any luck finding the correct handguard to mount a grip and light for informal shoots around here so I took one of Tromix' new handguards and modded it for a rail on the left side (sorry southpaws) by machining the ribs off, and milling the inner section for rail inserts...end result works pretty good. I need to get a tighter lockup as the handguard is a bit wobbly, not that it really matters with only a light but I'm sure I'll spend way too much time on it. Sorry for taking so long to Post this as I know I had earlier request work work work Modded Finished

If you're on the Tromix "List" Send in your gun now.
vspdave replied to TonyRumore's topic in TROMIX.com
Just curious, what number for you is running "low" -
Anyone know if Izhmash weapons company is public? If any of our Euro members know who is being awarded big ammunition contracts over there ...that would be good information as well. Yeah I know this might be the wrong place to post but everyone goes here first. That's no excuse for posting in the wrong section. Please don't do that again.

False Silencers? What's the point?
vspdave replied to rangerdavid's topic in Other Weapons - RIFLES (non-AK based)
If you can't have a legal SBR in your area you kinda have no choice with some builds. I needed to pin a KVAR Faux Can on an AKSU build to keep it legal. -
I personally never got on with CETME/G3/HK91's for various Ergo problems. Fal's have a better layout (in my opinion) and are probably one of the best looking battle rifles you will ever own - very solid and old school. But...... If you are trying to keep cost down and are not looking at originals you will have to do some research on built up Fal's, who built it, and on what receiver is everything!
