Sounds like exactly what we need for the range of an AK..

Anyone use one of these? If so how did you mount it?

I'm going to order one.

thanks,

Here is the manual.

http://www.millettsights.com//images/instr..._DMS_Manual.pdf

The manual is mainly written for people who are mounting it on an AR platform but it has some info on what type of rings to use. They recommend 3.5 inches of eye relief so I would like to say that a side rail mount like this would work.

Ive never used one of those scope rail mounts that uses Allen screws to attach it but I've seen others on here recommend against them. Design seems cheap and annoying. Other rail mounts just take a turn of a lever to secure/unsecure. Tightening and untightening 3 allen screws sounds like a PITA.

Scope looks kool though. Post pics when you get it :)

This is a good scope, I have one on a Arsenal SLR-107CR. I got mine from Midway on sale, $229.00 it is the new gen model with the illumination turret opposite the windage turret. Vector optics has a 1-4x24 illuminated mil-dot for about $85 which is just as good. But before you freak, Millett had some literature about "copies" or counterfeit millett products coming from China and rest assurred Midway has the real deal but mine says bigger than sh*t on it "made in China" so WTF? the Vector scope which I also have, is as good or better quality glass and is in all practicality probably made in the same plant. There is a good review on AR15.com, I think--on the two. Check it out before you spend the $$$ for your own peice of mind.

The DMS1 is a fine scope.

On 1X it makes a fair CQB optic and is fine with both eyes open. You will notice the 1x is really 1.1 or 1.2 inside a room but though slightly distracting works almost as good as an aimpoint. The circle dot is great inside.

On 4x it makes 300m targets drop like flys 500m targets are also quickly tagged.

Its mounted to a Larue quick detach mount on my MGI ar15.

To mount it on an AK you just need a side rail mount with 30mm rings.

Though If I mounted it backwards in the Larue mount I could attach it to a gas tube pic rail on an AK.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. So I did read through the review on ar15, and they are saying the vector is now around $300??? I found one on ebay direct from China for around $80, but that seems a little fishy, when the rest of the m are going for 3ish..? I was torn between the two.

Where did you get yours, and how come it's so much cheaper than the one they are describing?

Thanks for the input everyone. You have pretty much validated the research I have done. I'm ordering it today after work unless someone can steer me in a better direction for a better scope at a similar price.

Thanks for the help

I get them direct from Millet; the dealer price point on the last batch was $205 with shipping.

Yes, they are made in China. The difference is the quality control...Millett checks theirs and (usually) sends the bad ones back. These are, IMO, a good entry-level scope for the beginning competitor or for the casual shooter. Meopta is probably still the best of the illuminated 1-4 scopes under $1,500, but the reticle of the new Burris is really nice (even if the illumination sucks).

Why is good illumination important? Because if you shoot under 100 yards with a good 1-power glass with bright illumination, you can use it like a red dot (zero magnification) scope and speed up across target arrays with both eyes open...

thanks Alex,

yep thats what I'm looking for is to use it as red dot as well under 100 yds.

By the way guys, I just found this on the vector website. Looks very interesting as well, but I cant find any reviews of this, or a price ... Looks pretty appealing though doesn't it??? Anyone know anything about this guy??
