This is why America is suppose to have separation of church and state. So religion does not become the government. The Roman Catholics did a pretty good job of murdering tens of thousands during the inquisition. And some forms of government is no better than religious rule. The Nazis did as good of job as the Inquisitors at killing those they deemed unfit for varying convoluted reasons. As much as it is denied mankind, as a species, is a very dangerous animal IMHO! When we do not get our way we argue, fight, and kill each other (war).

Christianity is probably the worst when it comes to violence. Actually, all of the Abrahamic faiths seem to have serious problems in this aspect.

The irony is that they are killing others who are more or less praying to the exact same god. WTF...

Things like this make me proud that I am a pagan and live in a country where I am free to practice any religion that I choose.

Her answer, is to commit a simple misdemeanor crime while in the custody of Florida. Then she will be sentenced to a juvenile correctional facility for a period of a year or less, in which time she will turn 18 ...

The law is upheld, the family is absolved of their primitive "responsibility" to kill her, and she lives. Everybody is happy!

yeah, killing in the name of religion is just insane. from christians killing, muslims, pagans, indians, etc. to muslims killing christians (and other muslims) and so on. Just plain ludacris. I thought religion was supposed to make people more understanding and tolerant, not blood-thirsty, my god is better than your god, morons. how do people misunderstand a message of goodness so poorly.

Jugg's that gif is cracking me up! nice work.

The ONLY non-violent pagans I know are wiccans.

And last time I checked, I didn't see and Christians blowing themselves up in crowded markets or streets.

And then I double checked, and yep, the crusades ended over 600 years ago.

Nor do I think this thread is an appropriate place to bash all other religions or to boast about yours.

That doesn't mean that Christianity hasn't indirectly promoted war and violence(Thirty Years war, Iraq, Salem Witch trials...).

Look I am not trying to bash religion here. I respect whatever you want to believe. What I oppose however is a person trying to impose their religion/religious views on other people and me.

LMAO... I never said that the pagans are or ever were non violent. And boasting of religion is one thing that I get upset about. My pride in my faith stems from my acceptance of its roots, violence and all, and my duty to help the community and those around me. Hell, I did not even call out WHICH faith I follow. I am not pushing my faith on others, and they really don't need to know what I practice. We all get upset when the LDS goes door-to-door and tries converting people into their church. I am not going to be "that guy".

And I do not consider the crusades to be over. In a way, the bullshit in the gulf states today is just an extension of this. Please don't take this as Christian bashing because I know that the religion itself is not the problem. Every religion has it's share of nutjob followers, including mine. It is a shame when a few bad apples spoil the whole bunch.

Look at what Bush did in the post 11-Sept events. I cannot remember how many times he used the word "God" in his addressing of the nation. Taking the lord's name in vain is more encompassing that just the idle "goddamnit" etc. Using His name and your status as a follower of Him to assert your righteous superiority over another person is, afterall, the original thing that this commandment was intended to address. So while our arab brothers across the big pond were busy bringing religion into the conflict, so too were our leaders.

No side is guiltless, no religion is any more valid than any other. No matter how absurd another faith's practices may be, it is wise to not speak out against them lest you make yourself an enemy. I have muslim friends, and I respect them every bit as much as any of my other friends.

The problem is that instead of addressing the real issue here... that being that 'honor killings' are not legal on American soil, people are turning to attack the faith itself. Yes, you are free to practice whatever faith you want in the U.S., but your faith does not entitle you to violate any state or federal law. If you want to practice such things, you are free to leave the country and go back to where such things are acceptable. To be a U.S. citizen, you have a duty to uphold our constitution and our laws.

That said, I am not buying this girl's story. I do not feel that her parents would kill her. Even if they did, they would not escape justice now that this story has been made public.

The primary reason I will not let people push me or my faith around for events that happened 1000 years ago....

By the time everything gets to trial... the girl will be 18 anyhow....

(Edit: Thanks! Cobra found that animation a while back.... I use to have it up.. I like to change things up from time to time to keep from going stale...)

Do you really relate Christianity with Nazism?

Nazis worshiped their country, furor & race. In Goebbels journal, he wrote; "national socialism is my religion"

The Pope denounced Hitler & the Nazis. The ONLY people risking their lives to help the Jews were German Christians.

Stalin, another Atheist, mascaraed more people than Hitler.

Saddam Hussein ruled secularly.

People will often profane the name of the Lord & Christianity in an effort to claim that God is on their side, But that shows NOT the the shortcomings of the Lord but the evil & manipulation that MEN are capable of.

I am sorry you feel abandoned by the Lord t165.

The Romans were Pagans before they took the reins of Christianity. Roman Catholicism inherited it's rigid populous control from the Roman Pagans. The easter bunny was the Pagan fertility goddess's pet & derives from Paganism, as do Christmas trees & celebrating Christmas at the time of year we do. The Pagan Romans were amongst the most prolific of all atrocity commitors. They came up with the idea of crucification & Pikeing

The conflict between the 3 faiths of the God of Abraham have been inevitable. They're Prophesised about in the books of Daniel, Ezekiel, Revelation, Matthew 24, as well as others. Down to the current geopolitical alliances of the world today, if a person is resoursful enough to research the ancient names of the nations spoke of, IE: Persia=Iran, Medes=Iraq, Rus=Russia, ect ect... It is all part of the plan leading up to the harvest.

And sorry to tell ya, but "Believe it or not", Atheist, Faithful, Pagan, ect.. Everyone is along for the ride.

Big difference between the norse pagans and the roman ones. The norse brought us the easter symbols and the christmas trees... The romans brought us Christianity.

I'll side with Rus. Damned shame the Rus did not give Jesus a Kalashnikov... he woulda shown those pesky Romans a thing or two.

My money is currently on Raptor Jesus. When he comes back there is no hiding. He has figured out how to open doors!

Peter cut off one of the solders ears & was willing to go to battle. Jesus stopped him because he knew what the lords plan was & he excepted it.

Siding with Russia rhetorically is one thing, but in actuality is another. They will back Iran when Israel or the US strike, after Iran intentionally forces our hand. They will drive Half way into Israel, then their forces will be annihilated.

I detest senseless killing Paulyski. Whether it was yesterday or a thousand years ago. And that includes any guise it was/is cloaked in. Religion, government, the escuses really do not matter to me. I have absolutely no problem with capital punishment as long as the right individual pays the price and the cause is justified. I have no problem with a country going to war as long as the true reasons are told to it's citizens and they agree with the war.

As for the nexus between naziism and christianity. Senseless killing is senseless killing. Dice it up however you want. I have made up my mind and no man walking the face of this earth can do anything about that. Whether murder is done in the name of god or politics is rather trifling to me. Prisons are full of christians and every other form of religion. There is nothing inherently evil in christianity or any religion which guides an individual to be a better person. The vast majority of christians are the salt of the earth. I think the same can be said of most religions. However, all throughout history individuals have used politics and religion to do horrible things to their fellow man. I shall never agree with that practice. I am not a Koolaid drinker...I will never be one. Be it politics or religion I shall educate myself and form my own opinions. I am not so foolish to believe whatever I am told just because another man wishes me to. Even God detested a fool!

For you to presume that I feel abandoned by the lord is a very foolish comment by you. Whatever transpires between me and my god is between him and I. It is simply none of your business!
