I read up on them and guess one of those unrefurbished would be worth keeping original. Most SKS's are run of the mill so probably no big loss buy altering them. There are people that have them. They did produce a first batch that is out there in rotation. But they made changes to the design and have had production seemingly delayed at every step of the way on the second batch. So they're over a year backordered now. e30eternal 7 Posted January 4, 2012 Report Share Posted January 4, 2012 Not sure bout smaller or lighter, My Yugo is anything but that. I love it, a pretty long gun but, very accurate. The Tapco furniture has worked out great on it. I am currently writing Tapco tons of emails to try and convince them (probably a lost cause) to make a scope mount that will mount on the two bolts that secure the buttstock. So if anyone else is reading and can make that happen, SIGN ME UP! My next one will be converted to a bullpup, from Shernic Gun Works, granted they are still around when I decide to. Would love a bullpup on an SKS tho. Great accuracy in a small package... Anyone know of someone who really does HAVE a Shernic? Or better yet has anyone actually SHOT one? Have I seen one in person? no. but enough people got them on the first batch that they are known to be in circulation. Are they common as a result of the first batch? no. Hell no. The problem is they didn't leave the design alone, they modified it using information from the first run. This has snowballed into a running mess of delays and setbacks. I ordered my Bullpup kit from them back in October 2010(if my memory is correct, its obviously been a while), on December 22nd, 2011 they listed their shipping status as having shipped all orders placed by September 15, 2010.
