lewie212 37
What is the point of having an adjustable sight leaf on a shot gun? Just curious.

Sharky 1
I'm getting into the AK style shotgun thing kinda late BUT it seems after reading old posts here .. This is what most people have wanted from the start ( a Tactical AK Shotgun that was only found in Europe ) looking at the Pictures the receiver looks hard core kinda like the Yugo receivers on their AK-47's !! So my timing might be just right... Sounds like I.O. Inc won't be selling these maybe Atlantic ?? Sharky Edited April 20, 2012 by Sharky
cvhanh20 1,052
What is the point of having an adjustable sight leaf on a shot gun? Just curious. I definitely don't like the way the front sight post is made into the gas block, this is going to cause people a lot of work that want to set up a longer sight radius. But the rest looks pretty nice. KVAR has 24" with adjustable sights, Legion and Atlantic have 030s and 040, and now the Veprs are comeing in. Sounds like your timing is very goood. What is the point of having an adjustable sight leaf on a shot gun? Just curious. I definitely don't like the way the front sight post is made into the gas block, this is going to cause people a lot of work that want to set up a longer sight radius. But the rest looks pretty nice. What a great Idea!!! The S12 would have even more of an AK look if you chopped off the Front sight and extended it to the end of the barrel. Just add a dinzag FStower or OEM front sight tower. Although, alot of people, myself included spend lots of money to get those front sight gas blocks on our rifles. It seems as if that would almost be going in the opposite direction. But I guess that really has to do with what the end user really wants. Edited April 18, 2012 by AZG
ramlake 98
After reading it sounds like an IZ-433 with the vepr safety Nuttered for the USA. No rail on gas block, no rail on handguard, no folding stock, no muzzle device, and probably the ismash 4 round mag. Then if you want to build it back like it was you can't find the folding stock. I do like the phrase kicks like a mule. Give me a break! Edited April 18, 2012 by RamLake
lewie212 37
but are slugs really going to be accurate past 100 yards? I think it looks cool as hell dont get me wrong. Slug's
Fallschirmjager667 729
those are not "yugo receivers" lol, they are RPK receivers, like on all veprs
JRWperformance 17
What is the difference between the vepr and the saiga? Better attention to quality control? Will all the cool stuuf available to the saiga fit this thing? And what about the gas block. I see no adjustment knob. How does it work? XD45 7,124
The original Russian versions look great. Alot like the really nice Saiga conversions. But...... What will the imported versions look like? Very much like the "sporting purpose" S12s. I'm all for variety, but this isn't revolutionary. Merely evolutionary. I hope they are smart enough to either design them so that S12 mags work, or so that it's very easy to modify them for S12 mags. It will be a steep hill for them to climb to sell against the S12 with the variety of mags already on the market unless you can use them too. Fallschirmjager667 729
does anyone know (assuming its just like an 030 gas system) if it is actually self regulating or if it's just overgassed

And would also explain his "kicks like a mule" remark. If it's driving the bolt carrier into the rear trunion with jackhammer force that would make it kick. A true self-regulating system would certainly be possible. But I don't see any vent holes to release excess pressure...
rs51085 136
the gas system and the magazines are the only two hang up for me. does anyone know (assuming its just like an 030 gas system) if it is actually self regulating or if it's just overgassed as far as i can tell these guns gas systems have not been tested thoroughly yet and i too would be concerned about over gassing. regular s 12s with properly tuned gas systems still have problems with cracked carriers from time to time. so with this system being self regulating i am a little concerned. s12 mags will work (not drums) after you remove the front tab . the magazines that this thing takes are hard to come by right now especially in 8 rd form. as for converting standard rock and lock mags i would be very worried that the lrbho would not function properly with the modified mags with out a lot of fitting and the lrbho is one big reason why i would want this gun in the first place. From what i have read there has been a lot of talk about importing more 8 rd mags for these but i have yet to see them. You could also remove the rear sight leaf and put your HK rear sight or the TWS dog leg sight on the rear of the rail. you probably wouldn't even need to go that far. i think a low profile rear peep sight like the one on kel tec su-16 rifle or a tws peep would probably fit on the railed dust cover and be just about the right height. this is the gun that i have personally been waiting for. it has all of the features that people pay lots of money to add to their stock s 12s. before i heard of these i was about to purchase a iz 433. but these vepr 12s seam to take it one step further and add a thumb actuated safety and a better positioned bolt release. people pay a lot of money to add things like this to ak's. those 2 features along with the lrbho, railed top cover, front sight block combo, mag well and just a generally sexy design make this the gun to buy in my opinion. if you were to add those features to a iz 109 you would probably have more than 2000 dollars in it if you did the work mostly yourself. but it is only a good option in my opinion if the gas system works as advertised and we can get magazines that will function with the lrbho perfectly. if those two requirements can be met i believe this gun will be the final nail in the coffin to quieten down any naysayers that the s 12 isn't the best mag fed semi auto shot gun on the market. now please somebody import them and start selling them for around a 1000 bucks. i beg you! psl sniper 963
you can use regular s12 mags like stated but, you would not have the last round bolt hold open without some modification. still not that big of a deal to me.
Sharky 1
Saiga-12 IZ-433 Base Russian Shotgun $ 999.00 at Atlantic right now I'm hoping the the VEPR-12 when it's out for sale will be close to that ?? But right now there is NO pictures of the USA version which sucks ... I keep hearing MAY 2012 as a release date which ties in to when Rusmilitary is getting his in but who really know's ?? Time will tell... Sharky

Ditto!! kicks like a mule....set a s12 on the highest gas setting and shoot 3" slugs and you can tell the carrier is bottoming out just by the excesive recoil. Also, I and several other engineers have studied the 030 / IZ-433 gas system and have found no possible way to be self regulating.
