ncb5955 0
I recently sent off my bolt, bolt carrier and other parts off to Pauly's to have the glass bolt and ice rack done and am wondering if anyone out there has had the system done and how they like it. I am waiting around like a kid at christmas very excited to get it all back.
Guns Are Great 140
All you got to do is surf the site, search for his name or polishing. Pauly gets nothing but rave reviews. I have never seen a post degrading his work.
gdoc89 8
I love it! First thing I did.

BOB A. BOOEY 45
I did it myself with a Dremel. Im sure Pauly's work is better but mine came out pretty well and my shotgun shoots well including low brass.

The_Caged_Bird 474
Well, the spring is still the same strength but I can charge mine with my pinky finger, I imagine Pauly's work is a bit better than my own. You will NOT be disappointed!

JRWperformance 17
I did a smoothing job on my internal workings. Not a mirror polish and there is a massive diference. I can only imagine the silky smoothness of the glass bolt.

pulidoins 0
How do you get a hold of Pauly? The number does not go through
Paulyski 2,227
Sorry. The business #'s a pre-paid AT&T cell that I bought after nearly breaking the limit of my Verizon Family Shared plan. Once in a great while I forget to re-up it until I notice I didn't get any calls on "x" day. It's back on. ETA; "Playboy vs Balls-Deep". XD Priceless. Here's my latest porn; (no, the old rear sight block isn't photoshopped. It's welded up & ramped so there's nothing to catch on as the shooter slides his hand over the weapon for lightning quick, comfortable, blind charging. But my favorite part of that picture, is the forest that you can see if you look real close at the side of the carrier)
Salt1219 176
I was going to have pualy do my bolt but i started dremeling it my self. Im amazed at the difference it makes. Im sure pauly's is way better and i may still have him do it. There are some good guides on here about what not to dremel and whats okay to do.
Paulyski 2,227
Pretty simple really. If you end up with this; or this; Well...
spssniper308 0
Well Pauly kept his word not posting names, lol but the screwed up bolt carrier job was mine. I have done many mods to guns and bout everything else over the years, but I was truly humbled by my saiga 12. I too did the bolt polish and had the gun runnin fairly smoothly, then decided the carrier needed a touch. Yep BAD IDEA!!!. Just got my bolt/carrier back from Pauly, This thing looks chromed and smooth. abosutly awsome. Now my $650 boat anchor shoots once again. It only shoots high brass, but i honestly think i got 1 of the vodka specials. If there is any questioning of Pauly's work, You can 100% trust you wont be dissapointed! A BIG THANKS Pauly for the AMAZING job you did for me.
Black Russian 1
Why not do it yourself? Dremel works best but some folks use pads and polish
Matthew Hopkins 1,065
Why not do it yourself? Dremel works best but some folks use pads and polish why do it all would be my question. I mean, it really isn't necessary or needed. my S12 functions just fine as well as every firearm I own, and not one of them has polished bolt groups. some of the things being offered for the S-12 is fluff, and not really needed. sort of like a lot of the stuff being peddled for the AR platform. Well, that all depends.Look at it like building an engine. One can hop a stock engine up with Nitrous, or one can build it to be all engine. Both can obtain 10 second 1/4's, but only one will be the most durable, the all engine build. The polishing is just the end. The profiling is where most of the function comes from. Reduction of resistance is keeping power in the system without adding stress to the op-rod and the female end of the carrier. I work with the philosophy that if every little bit helps, add every little bit. YMMV. Additionally, when I purchase a firearm, especially a used one, I crack it open & see what's been done to it. Regardless of what a modification's function may lead to, if it looks like it was hacked out & I see dremel bites, I'm not buying it. I've had too much come through the shop where people screwed up without even knowing it. Why not do it yourself? Dremel works best but some folks use pads and polish That all depends on what you're going for. Before starting to do it professionally, I did my own with a dremel. It was minor in comparison to GlassBolt, but it improved function a bit, but there were some things I overlooked. I explained that process here if you want to try; http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/50571-how-do-i-polish-the-bolt/&do=findComment&comment=471736 Throughout the 400+ sets I've done since doing it professionally, my process has advanced greatly in finish, uniformity and precision. Shop specs & formulas have been developed over the years that help GlassBolt greatly. Once again, let's look at cars & racing, another lifelong passion of mine... One can have a Lotus or Maserati and get their ass handed to them when racing a hopped up Honda Civic down a windy country road if the driver of the Civic knows the road, all the hairpin turns, reverse banks and how to work each particular curve's apex like the back of his hand, and the driver of the Lotus is driving the road for the first time. So it really comes down to what you're looking for, what you're capable of producing, and what you'll settle for. Most of my people just want the best without any hassle. Some give it a try, and decide they want it more refined and professionally done. That being said, if one has the time, it really is rewarding to do it one's self if one is capable. To thine own self be true. Only you know your personal limitations, and what the equipment you own or can rent/borrow is capable of producing. Everybody has their own talents. Me, I'm a really lousy financial adviser, but boy can I produce a nice GlassBolt, and flawless, indestructible upturned charging handle fabrication. We all have our own niche in life.
Black Russian 1
I polished mine myself, I profiled mine myself ironically after vigorously reviewing Paul's threads on here. Mine came out great and although I could not get my carrier like the mirrored shine of Paul's the bolt it much smoother and it came out great.
