imarangemaster 315
A few years back (2008 to 2012), the one true Kalashnikov path of the Saiga was hopping on this board. We would have dozens of posts a day, probably 1/3 of them new posts. Where the hell are all the Saiga owners? Have all the questions about our venerable Automat been asked? Are there no more saigas? Are ther no new Saiga owners? Post a picture of your favorite Saiga build (any caliber). I'll start it with a favorite restoration of mine that I did just before I moved back to Kalifornication.... Sold it when I moved back, as I could not bear to put a Kydex paddle on it.
Inebriated 31
It is certainly slow around here, but when people post, it's usually good stuff. That's a nice-looking build, hopefully it went to a good home! Here's my favorite. Did it earlier this year, and I am just waiting on another rifle to be finished to get both Cerakoted. It just feels like it was molded for me, and has been 100%. What more could I ask for? Edited September 28, 2014 by Inebriated
su16a 84
Top pair are 7.62's and bottom pair are 223's

Mullet Man 2,114
I'm sill working on how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop. My 132 is awaiting an Izmash 5.5mm 100 series poly butt stock installation, to finish off my 103 build. Its on my 'to do' list. Warning, horrible picture ahead... Ok, I gotta ask, what is the deal with the upward sloping AR butt stocks on AK's? Seems to be a common "issue" that I've noticed lately. Inebriated 31
Ok, I gotta ask, what is the deal with the upward sloping AR butt stocks on AK's? Seems to be a common "issue" that I've noticed lately. It isn't upward sloping. It's inline with the top of the receiver and the barrel, it's the bottom of the receiver that is upward sloping towards the barrel. Regardless, I'll take function > form. The AR adapter raised the cheekweld for me, which puts my eye directly inline with the irons and the dot. It is the quickest rifle I've used, to include many AR's. If I want it to look like a 103, I have an SGL-21 that's near enough.
Mullet Man 2,114
I had a feeling it was an illusion because of the receiver. In pics they definitely look bent up. I wasn't trying to throw stones.
imarangemaster 315
The factory "Saiganov" stocks give the illusion of being bent upward, also.
metalgodlb 30
I agree. Total ghost town. I hope there are enough people that keep the interest going. Sanctions or not, I'm not ready to see Saiga and Vepr go the way of Norinco and Polytech. I don't have very many posts, but I check new content on here probably five times a day, more if I start a thread. I have thirteen ak variants, seven of them from mama Russia. This one isn't coming out of the package ever. Well, maybe when my five year old son graduated high school as a gift..

mbjku 0
Ban on Kalsahnikov might finish this forum in year or two because people normally interesting in upgrades or improvements first two weeks after getting new rifle. I like mine Saiga's very much but more mods might be illegal, besides I prefer to shot not yap-yap on forums This is also not free on membership forum, not big deal to me but might be decision point for many. Juggernaut 11,054
Well, with EO's banning importation, a few other scandals and vepers on the market.. things are gonna slow down.. has forum wide.. I remember when the forum was small and growing... we have somewhat returned to those roots.. the ones that have stayed are quality people as they were in the beginning.. Anyhow.. here's mine... scattergun10 125
Here are a couple: What kind of mag is that you have in the rifle in the top pic?
Sirex 34
I kinda went against the grain, and instead of Khyber pass AK, or uber tactical, I made the stealth AK. Stealth because my we doesn't know I have 2 different rifles. And the wood gives them a non-liberal scaring affect here in MD. (Top 7.62x39 Saiga, bottom Vepr .308)
canoecanoe 63
Here are a couple: What kind of mag is that you have in the rifle in the top pic? It is a 223 Beryl mag.
SaigaFL 4
I'm one of the lucky one's having bought a few Saiga's before the ban. But I did miss deals on 2 as the ban hit. I saved the barrel ends caps after I cut them off so I'll have to do a photo ASAP. For $ the rear converted Saiga was the best bang for the $. Some were selling in the last year for $565. delivered at Cheaper Than Dirt. Then just before the ban these went for $535. delivered and I ordered one but they sold out & I missed out. Now the unconverted Sport model are $600. and up so it's time to look for used one's.
Protectandserve 6
I just haven't had any updates lately. Ran into some unexpected car costs which hurt my Saiga parts fund. Hoping to remedy that in the next few pay checks. Then I can start adding some progress on mine.
imarangemaster 315
Hmmmm... Beryl mags. Thats cool. When I had the 223 Saiga, I used Galil Orlite 35 round. I tried the steel ones, but due to the wide variety of manufacturers for the steel mags, I had problems. The Orlites just needed a 60 second modification and ran like a top! If I still had the Orlites, I would have bought another Saiga 223. Tapco makes a 223 AK mag now, I believe.
Inebriated 31
I really think .223 AK's should all use PMAGs. I know, AK's are built around the mag, but good .223 AK mags are such a bitch to pile deep. I'm considering a Bulgarian 5.45 build and converting to 5.56, and I'll be using an AR mag adapter. I want it as a "ban proof" rifle, so I can get ammo and mags locally.
semper299 284
I have a completely untouched saiga 223 and I am thinking about the ar mag adaptor for that one. Some parts of the install scare me a tad though. May have to have that one professionally done.
imarangemaster 315
The ar15 Mag adapters were just coming out in the 2007/2008 time period when I had my 223 Saiga. They were "iffy" and a bitch to install. I have been leery of them since...
