  1. I recommend EastWave Products. Bought my POSP and my PK-AS from them. Both were quite a bit cheaper than what Kalinka Optics sells them for and came from Belarus in about 1.5 weeks. Had a little defect with the POSP and they replaced it, no questions asked.
  2. Here she is! I put my 4x24 Belarus POSP on it for affect and also included the SureFire mags and its future Dragunov-style, skeleton buttstock.
  3. Fine. Pics upcoming. It's just stock 22" though.
  4. The "Saiga Fever" has struck me again. I already have a 7.62x39 and an S12 and have been considering (fantasizing about) adding a .308 to my collection for a while. Money has been tight and I've never mustered up enough bravado to go ahead and order one (none available locally). Well, tonight, I was presented with an opportunity that I simply couldn't pass up. I was at work and someone told me that a major local sports outfitter store was going out of business and was having an "everything must go" sale. I decided to stop by after work and check it out. I checked out the firearms departme
  5. Ace stocks and that Chinese-style folder are nice, but require you to cut off the rear tang. I don't want take the dremel to my very nice new SGL21. Personally, I don't like the triangle side-folder stocks that Sal suggested. They not only require that you remove the tang, but other, (more difficult), receiver modification as well. As for ACE stocks, you can get them in both flavors, (internal and external receiver blocks). You are not forced to cut the tang; it depends on what model you buy. And, unlike the metal side-folders, the ACE folding mechanism doesn't require you to mu
  6. I would also like to replace the Arsenl trigger group in my SGL21 with a Tapco G2 one (like it quite a bit in my S12). Does the standard G2 group fit right in or some modding is required? Would I be better off getting a Tromix or Dinzag modified G2 group kits? Thanks.

  10. Does it cover the mag release when folded? Please show a picture of it folded. Also get a close up of that hinge mechanism, it looks like its made similar to the galil micro/tapco/caa crap that has proven to fail over and over. Without seeing further pictures, I'd advise you to buy one of these: from DPH arms here: http://dpharms.com/ak74triangularsidefoldingstockandhardware-p-1101.html Than have someone install it for you. Remember don't be a chump and buy something you'll regret at a later date. You're asking me questions as if I already owned that thing. I'm just consi
  11. By the way, this stock folds to the left only. I must have been thinking of another product when I said that it folds to either left or right. Speaking of another product, any one have this Falcon Arms stock? http://www.falconarms.com/xcart/product.php?productid=16322&cat=1&page=1 Yet another stock that I'm considering is the AKS-style, triangle one by Arsenal. None of these stocks require you to cut off the rear tang. Does any one know of any other folders like that?
  12. I'm thinking of putting this stock on my SGL21. It looks pretty sweet (hi-tech) and folds either to the left or the right, which is important to me, because I have a PK-AS scope mounted. I know that this stock is new, but I was wondering whether anyone here had any personal experience with this stock or has any opinions based on the info available. Thanks.
  13. I'm thinking of going the Saigunov route myself. Where did you get one and how easy was it to fit?
  14. I would stay away from that grip. It's an AR grip, that's poorly glued to a plastic AK "adapter". I had it on my S12. Not only did it not feel right, the grip became unglued from the "adapter" and the whole thing was a bit loose. Get a Hogue grip instead. I really like it on my SGL21. As far as accessories, I also highly recommend the Krebs enhanced safety lever you see in my pic. It lets you take the weapon off safety without removing your hand from the grip.
  15. I'm seriously considering buying this weapon now, but the amount of info about it on the Internet is seriously lacking. So, I gathered that the standard stocks and pistol grips are not going to just "drop in" (without hacks), but what about a G2 trigger group? Also, what about the handguards? Will it accept standard Saiga ones? Replacing the trigger group and the handguard will make it 922r compliant for high-cap mags, right? Even without replacing the trigger group, adding a US handguard (1 part) and using a high-cap US mag (3 parts) with also make it compliant, right?
  16. 5.45x39 mm catridge was designed for accurate burst fire and was pretty effective in the Afghan country-side. The Mujahidin nick-named it the "poison bullet" for its tendency to cause deceptively small and clean entry holes, combined with very high mortality rates and filed complaints (with international human rights groups) against its use. I heard of bullets from shoulder shots being retrieved from legs. During the heavy urban fighting in Chechnya, Russian troops discovered that it had poor cover penetration and immediate stopping power, prompting some Spetsnaz and OMON units to switch back
  17. I keep the allen wrenches for my MI quad-rail and the adjustment tool for my PK-AS scope in there, as well as an extra round of ammo. It is kind of hard to open, but seems to be closed solid and I have a leatherman tool knife with me at all times.
  18. The standard AK/Saiga tube cleaning kit also includes a very effective elevation adjustment tool.
  19. you must have gotten a vodka special SGL... I know that post-apocalyptic on this forum has complained about the finish and the paint-bubbling on his SGL20 multiple times and so did plenty of people on other forums. The safety lever gap problem is also well-known. Someone said that it happened because Arsenal was using some German safety levers, which were a poor fit. I think that it's less of a "vodka special" issue and more of an "early production problems" issue. The truth is that, even with these problems (most of which are easily/cheaply fixed), it's a still a sweet AKM. Any way, I'
  20. Well I guess my SGL-20 is the exception, fit and finish is good. no signs of being rattle can painted. Could have been just the early batch of SGL20's that have some of these problems. Mine is an 08 production.
  21. As I've mentioned before, beside the "accessory" lug, there are other significant differences between my own SGL20 and my SGL21. The SGL21 has significantly better fit and finish. SGL20 looks like it's been spray-painted by something (that bubbles on the barrel when it gets hot), the safety lever is dangerously loose, there's a significant gap between the closed safety lever and the dust cover and the dust cover lacks an extra ridge that's found on the SGL21 dust cover and sits kind of weird (too low). In addition, the SGL21 groups a bit better at 100 yards. All in all, I'm really glad th
  22. The 20's lack an accessory lug. They also lack several Russian components such as the FSB (the 20 uses a Bulgarian). I don't know whether this is typical or not, but my SGL20 has a worse finish (post-pocalyptic backs me up on that), came with the very loose safety lever and a nasty gap between the closed safety and the dust cover. The dust covers are also different, with the one on SGL21 having an extra "ridge" on the bottom and fitting better and tighter.
  23. All standard AK bayos should fit. I had an East German one that I needed to file some plastic off of before it fit, but it was really easy. My advice would be to wait until K-Var has another sale on those new production Bulgy ones though. They are unmatched. None of my used mil surplus AK bayos can hold a candle to them, looks or build quality-wise. By the way, before I got my new Bulgy bayo from K-Var, I ordered a used one (also from K-Var). It wasn't the same bayo. It looked like any other mil surplus AK bayo and its edge was badly bent. P.S. Not sure how this triple post happened. M
