  1. Thanks for answering. So, side-mounted POSP scope is a no-go on these? Yet, I will be able to buy a top mount, that will let me attach a regular 1" tube scope? Right?
  2. In addition to what I said before, this is another reason for me to love my SGL21:
  3. Do I have to call to order or will your web site be updated, in order to allow to place such back orders?
  4. Are more Super 308s going to be coming in?
  5. I was ready to order the Vepr Super 308. Cheapest I've seen it yet. Just wanted to know if it came with a side rail. Today, it's already out of stock.
  6. The <$1000 SGL rifles are AK-74M and AK-103 clones, without folding stock rear trunnions/stocks. They don't have any conversion artifacts, everything (like trigger guard) is riveted together very nicely, there are the proper threaded FSB with push pin, gas block with accessory lug, 1000 m sight leafs, riveted bullet guide, etc. The polymer furniture is supposed to be mil spec too. Everything about them is just nice, smooth and tidy. The >$1000 SGL rifles have the highly desired proper folding trunnions and stocks, which are expensive and are a bitch to DIY. I wonder what that $35
  7. Thanks, but I couldn't quite make out what he said about the mounts on the Supers. "...<something> mounts on them yet, but we are getting them"?
  8. Does this particular model not feature a side-rail for optics mounting? I don't see one in the picture which you have on your site. Super Vepr 308s from other vendors are pictured as having a side-rail. Is there any way of mounting optics on the model which you sell? Edit: Also, does it come with one or two 10 round mags? Thanks.
  9. Not sure if I would sell it or keep it as a spare. I still need to contact those AK-103.com guys and see if they have chromed ones and how much they want for them. Been busy...
  10. The piston and gas port are supposed to be chromed (just like the chamber and barrel). Your gas tube would rust long before those.
  11. So, my SGL21 came with one of these: http://www.k-var.com/shop/product.php?productid=16986&cat=344&page=1 It works great, but is not chrome lined, going against the Russian mil spec. The product description states: "The combination of high grade tool steel and sophisticated heat treating process in vacuum furnaces result in a compensator that maintains its perfectly cylindrical shape, free of any warping, deformation, collapse, or surface contaminants." I have an issue with the "surface contaminants" claim. Last night, I took out my rifle and gave it the first thorough
  12. Some time, in the near future, I was planning on spending a day on vacuum sealing a bunch of poly coated Wolf Mil Classic with Sapsan bullets that I have. Maybe six boxes per bag, with a desiccant pack? A friend of mine took a box of that stuff out hunting deer with his SKS (yes, I did tell him to buy some nice SPs and yes, he can be a stubborn and cheap dumbass) and when he got back, some rounds were rusted.
  13. Ah. I figured as much. Ok then, is there some kind of a weaver mounted scope (or rings) with a quick take off lever, which will keep its zero after I put it back on? ...or should I just get a higher mag POSP and deal with the extra weight?
  14. They are pretty tiny, but they sure are a whole lot easier for me to line up now! Made a big difference..
  15. Hey guys, Thought that I would share this with you, because I think that it turned out kind of neat. So, I began looking into ways of improving the stock Mak sights on my Bulgy Mak and decided to experiment with painting them with glossy white paint. I tried some nail polish (base, paint and top coat), but it didn't turn out so well. The paint job turned out to be very soft and could just be peeled off. I stopped by Ace Hardware and picked up a few tiny cans of this hobby enamel, along with some small brushes. It took me a few tries to get the paint job just right. The trick is to
  16. This is some kind of a weird franken-"AKM-103", with that ugly etched out import stamp and nylon plugged rear axis rivet holes. I mean, it's nice and everything, but you could get an Arsenal SGL21 for a little over $700 and put Timbersmith on it, all for about the same price and you would have a bayo lug, accessory lug, no etched stamp, very effective muzzle brake and all your holes welded up like they were never there. Just my opinion...
  17. Hey guys, I am thinking about getting scope which has at least 6x magnification, is light AND (most importantly) short enough to be mounted on a TWS Dogleg Gen 2. I mean, something which is going to allow me to lift up the railed receiver cover and field strip (and clean) the weapon, without taking off the scope every time. From what I can tell, it's not doable with most medium mag scopes, because they are just too long. So, is there something which will satisfy my needs, preferably for under $500? Illuminated reticle and mil dot drop/windage comp would be a plus. This is somethin
  18. You mean the ~4000 unaccounted for? Not to mention that those can't do a damn thing to a civilian airliner, and can barely annoy military aircraft? Some of these missiles are supposed to Igla-S, which are state-of-the-art as far as these things go.They are very immune to counter-measures, have greater range and a more powerful warheads. They do represent a grave danger to any airliner, when it's flying bellow 20,000 feet.
  19. Not any more. Military Classic from WPA no longer has the 8M3 bullet. According to whom?
  20. "Well what make the Bulgarians the best shooters is purely subjective but I have owned several AKs as do all the guys we shoot with, none will sell their Bulgys. I think and I am sure Zen will straighten me out if I am wrong, but the SLRs are built on Russian tooling when the Russians introduced the newest AK series. Also in my opinion the QC of the Bulgarians is much better than their drunkin cousins. There is no functional difference between the two." No, the Bulgarians don't have the latest Russia tooling. They are not up to AK-100 specs. Izhmash considers their guns to be illegal counte
  21. Commercial 124 gr 7.62x39 mm rounds are very deadly. Wolf Military Classic 124 gr HPs (featuring the 8M3 bullets) are proven performers. They tend to both yaw and fragment, causing horrific wounds. Golden Tiger 124 gr FMJ is like the M67s on steroids. The fact is: the best-designed 7.62x39 mm round will always have better terminal ballistics than the best-designed 5.45x39 mm round. Many Spetsnaz guys do prefer 7.62x39 mm. Lately, they've been getting rid of their old AKMS' and replacing them with AK-103s.
  22. Let us know what it's like when you get it.
  23. Slicks Guns is a deals aggregate. These deals are at Classic Arms. It's just that, it can be really hard to find something on Classic Arms' awful web site. From what I remember of forum rules, you are allowed to mention deals from non-sponsoring vendors; you just can't post links.
  24. Check out Slick Guns for some really sweet prices on 7.62x39 mm, .223 and 5.45x39 mm. There is also the cheapest converted 7.62x39 mm I've ever seen. Nice to see such a price drop!
  25. The SGL-21 barrels are not stepped and don't mark the casings. As far as I know, that's the only difference.
