  1. So long story short my Saiga conversions are finally done, and I was looking for a company who does a really good job at Duracoating. I don't feel like doing it myself anymore as I just want to pay and get it done. I also want to ship my FAL in the mix, so does anyone know of a good company who does this. I don't worry too much about price. Thanks Jasecloud4
  2. Meh, I'll quote Shakespeare on this one: "What's in a name? That which we call a rose By any other name would smell as sweet." I'll call my Saiga's dog s**t and that doesn't change their quality, LOL. I go with what works; and Saiga's are the BEST!
  3. Maybe it was just me, but I thought that FEG had went out of business? Just me though. Something about exportation problems. Not sure though.
  4. Meh, go with .50BMG in a Barrett M82A1. Ten round mags, semi-automatic, and you'll never need more than 100 rounds; lol. .50BMG: 800gr, 2895ft/sec, 14,895ft/lbs of energy 7.62x39: 154gr, 2,104ft/sec, 1,519ft/lbs of energy .223 Remington: 69gr, 2,950ft/sec, 1,333ft/lbs of energy One thing to note, this is muzzle velocity. Without going into to too many technical details... I WIN! Yes, yes completely off topic. On-topic: go with a 7.62x39 for the following reasons: cost (unless you work in a gun store like me), energy upon impact, and ease of attainment (again, unless yo
  5. When we "Point" in the Army with vert grips on our M4's we tend to to semi-full fist it (try to figure that one out). It works well for us.
  6. Hmmmm...I still think the Galil comes out on top. When it comes to accuracy, there are many things that come into play, but the three big things are Ammo, Rifle, and last but not least; SHOOTER. I could hand the village idiot a precision made, match grade weapon rated for 2000 yards, and he could not hit a damn thing. But I could give an experienced sniper a stock Romak-3, with LPS ammo and have him put a 2" group and 400m. I shoot most accurately with my Galil, but someone else may shoot best with a Valmet or AKM. Reliability is a relative term, if you keep the weapon clean and field stri
  7. My state (Kentucky) Got 2 Points! YEEEAAAAHHHHH. Damn, the points that we did get were for not forcing colleges to allow guns on campus. It's not illegal, but if you refuse to leave you can be charged with disturbing the peace, academic sanctions, or trespassing. However, if kept in the glovebox of your car, you technically have the gun as an extension of your home, which under state constitution is legal, therefore superceding college regs. The catch: if it leaves your the passenger side of your car it is no longer in your "home".
  8. Hmmm...according to the liberals, Kentucky has the second most dangerous gun laws next to Alaska: in layman terms, I love my state! (although the occasional trailer park can get annoying from time to time: no offense trailer dwellers.) I love OC'ing, owning a machine gun, and not having to worry about magazine capacities.
  9. Has anyone ever consider moving states just to have better gun laws??? I know, I know it's so hard to move, it costs so much, etc, etc, etc... Just kidding. No but seriously, I have a good friend of mine who jumped ship from California to Fl. When I asked him why, he said that he was sick and tired of stupid gun laws and he wanted to keep a similar climate to what he was accustomed to. When I pushed the issue, I found that he was really serious. Same thing with another good friend of mine in IL. In his case, he got robbed twice in a year, and not having a gun to protect himself really messed u
  10. Meh...don't worry about flash, use sunglasses If you're really brave take the muzzle brake/flash suppressor off and then shoot it at night from a 14.5" barrel
  11. Ummm... compromise: a gas piston system AR. I have the Patriot Ordnance POF-.308 gas piston AR-10 in the 14.5" variety. The sheer terror on peoples faces when they feel the wind from the muzzle brake hitting them in the face is priceless. Plus the boom as 147gr South African surplus ball flies out of it is well worth the money. The system gets rid of the gas impingement based key system that the AR is notorious for and simplifies it with a piston system. I have only had 2 jams in the past 1800 rounds, and that includes field time spent hunting with the thing. (Yes, I hunted with an AR-10; sue
  12. Don't hate on kissing your sister till you've tried it. LOL Seriously a little breaking in never hurt anything (except for maybe your shoulder.)
  13. I use 147gr steel core penetrator, South African Surplus. Works like a charm. "Some people say I have issues." ~ME
  14. Boom. That would be the sound of the weapon firing. Splat would be the sound of your face getting shredded off.
  15. I just stick with using it as toilet paper. It's already lubricated for a nice smooth glide. "Yeah I live in Kentucky. We have rednecks, trailers, and muddin' competitions. We also can own any weapon we chose, open carry without a permit, and conceal carry in the glovebox without a permit. We also have total state preemption of firearms which means that embedded into the state constitution is the right for every man to own a gun, and local government can in no way, shape or form regulate firearm laws. Does YOUR state do that?" "Some people say I have issues." ~ME
  16. vOodkA' SPeshUl. "Yeah I live in Kentucky. And yes we have rednecks, trailers, and muddin' competitions. But we can open carry any gun we can legally own without a permit, conceal carry in the glovebox without a permit, and own any weapon we chose. We also have total state preemption of firearms laws, meaning that embedded into the state constitution is the right for every man to own a firearm and no local government can in any way, shape, or form regulate them. Does your state do that?" "Some people say I have issues." ~ME
  17. Meh Centerfire is down the road from me... "So what if I live in Kentucky. Yeah it's full of rednecks, trucks, and trailers. It also has laws that let me open carry without a permit, conceal carry in the glovebox without a permit, own any weapon I can buy under federal law, and has total state preemption of all firearm laws, where embedded in the state constitution is the assurance that every man can own a gun and which local laws can in no way, shape, or form regulate. Does your state do that?" ~ME "Some people say I have issues." ~ME
  18. vOODka Speshul: What size slugs were those. If they were 3" magnum then no wonder they work. Try that again with some 2 3/4 waterfowl rounds and that will tell you if you have problems. Oh, and you may have some holes that are partially obscured. Picks would be good too. "Some people say I have issues." ~ME

    Lubrication

Use it on an uh-oh, get ready for it, here comes the pain, AR-15 that I own...
  20. Are we talking from the perspective of a Tony Rumore or Joe Bloe of the street? If you're Tony you just drink a couple of beers and God comes down to do it for you. If you're just Joe Bloe than I would suggest reading one of the technical threads
  21. VoDKa Speshal Just kidding, I have no idea without looking at it...

    3in drum

No, all of the designs I am aware of depend on the Saiga to actually fire the rounds... HTH! +1
  23. Meh, recoils not bad, I have an 870 express magnum and that thing is like getting kicked by a mule even with a recoil reducing stock. The saiga is definitely better in terms of recoil. On top of which of the three saiga's I have ranging from stock to converted, have only misfed maybe 8 times of the 1200 or so rounds I have put down them. Of course the majority of the problems are the really light 2 3/4 rounds. Other then that the only way I can make you a believer is for you to BUY ONE AND SHOOT IT. 24. Looks like some pretty clean smith work. "Some people say I have issues." ~ME
