  1. I followed a post from an AK47 forum advising how to get the in the white look... their advice was to use blue & rust remover. This worked (a little). Then I used mineral spirits & very fine steel wool. After that used Never Dull. And a lot of elbow grease.
  2. I know this isnt very original looking.. but I was sitting around bored, nothing on tv... looked down at my remote & thought - The battery cover looks like the size "holes" I would want in my handguard.... I figured it would give me something new to look at until my parts show up. Now excuse me as I go dig this piece of plastic out of my eye, remember kids - always wear safety glasses
  3. Bvamp - is that your rifle?? if so. what front sight is that?? I was thinking of changing out parts so cleaning rod would fit...

  8. Thats ok, mine is a .308 Just happen to read a lot of the posts in the 7.62x39 area.....
  9. very nice I like the pistol grip.
  10. I believe you can "drift" it the same way you do on an AK-47 or an SKS. There is a windage adjustment tool you can buy for this. I think places like Tapco sell them.
  11. Thanks for the offer pistonring. That is very nice of you. Unfortunately (for me) I just finished making mine "in th white" last night. I folowed the instructions I found on an AK-47 site. I stripped it using blue remover & steel wool. Then I polished it up using Never Dull. I definitely wish I would have waited now. It turned out great but took for ever. LOL. Oh well. I will post a pic as soon as I get off my lazy butt. TWGLADF thanks for the info on the mak90 gas tube. Now I know definitely what to look for. I think I am going to swap the lower handguard out for an AK one, so we wi
  12. that would be nice, maybe minor work to convert it to fit??
  13. thanks for the info lollygagger... that is the kinda stuff that i needed to know. I see a "frankenstein" rifle in my future....lol... and a lot of parts that almost fit in my closet. I will probably start buying any spare parts marked ak47, ak74, mak 90....just to see what fits & how close
  14. I read so much on this board & a couple AK boards trying to learn so much I can never remember who posted it or where it was posted.
  15. here is link to J&G sales http://catalog.jgsales.com/
  16. I would just put a link in the shotgun forum to this message thread
  17. What state do you live in? In Florida you can do a face to face no problem as long as you & the person you are selling to are both FL residents. And (obviously) the person is able to legally own a rifle.
  18. Hi guys - from another fairly new guy
  19. nice mosin. They are my "addiction". I have 20 mosins right now, and more to come. Do you visit any of the Mosin message boards out there? If not I can suggest a couple great ones. They are similar to this site, great people lots of info.
  20. I think I read somewhere that the saiga tends to lean towards the AK 74 side when it comes to parts. If this is true we should be able to use them for some of the parts.
  21. I would. I just got my 308 & wishing I could find some more Saigas in my area.
  22. could you change out the saiga gas tube with a vented AK gas tube? I have seen a couple of these for sale. But being new to the AK market (and of course saiga market), I have no idea if there is a size difference between the saiga & the ak gas tube.
  23. I agree with you pistonring. I like the way it looks alot better than the black paint.
