  1. After a session at the range today I came home and thought it would be a good idea to take apart the mags I used and wipe them down with some silicon (helps smooth feeding). Surprise, surprise... I found the springs in all of them dry and rusted (AGP and Surefire alike) These mags had very little use and were stored inside an air conditioned room so I wonder how they would have been if stored in a truck or a shed... Not a really big deal but you would think they would have sprayed the springs with oil before putting them together. Now, I have about 12 more (new) mags to check out.
  2. So, let see here... One or two Navy vessels, helicopters, airplanes and light boats at the cost of what? hundreds of thousands a day? And they are saying that they are negociating with the pirates? Did someone say snipers? How many of these pirates are they anyway?
  3. AFIK, 'Castle Doctrine' generally refers to defending your home, and the 'Stand Your Ground' laws apply when you are not at home (but are somewhere you are legally allowed to be). True, the Castle doctrine allows one to use deadly force day or night against a perceived treath in his home except when the threat is from a resident of the home (self defense laws still applies in that case).
  4. Are you sure of this? I used the factory hammer in a S-12 conversion with a Tapco disconnector and trigger and I don't see how it could go full auto...
  5. Some barrels have a 1:7 rate of twist and some have a 1:9 rate. You need the higher rate of twist to stabilize the heavier bullets. I haven't heard of any problems with the lighter bullets. I like the Tantal, it's light and feel more balanced than my WASR-10/68.
  6. there are a few Polish Tantal on the market right now. I got one made for Century with a NoDak Spun receiver and it is a nice gun.
  7. Mags must be disassembled and sent in separate packages (one package for follower, one for bodies and one for base plates). Everything must me be sent as replacement parts. Trying to import assembled mags wil send you to federal state prison.
  8. Another kitchen table conversion and it has all the goods...
  9. Here is mine... It's a kitchen table conversion special and will do for me. (bipod is there to take the picture)
  10. Minwax golden maple poly on Romanian WASR-10... A little sanding, a little steel wool and two coats within 48 hours. First time I did any kind of staining so it's good enough for me and I'm happy with the result.
  11. Did you remove the cover to load the drum? If so, remove all the shells from the drum, put back the cover on and reload the drum by inserting the shells from the the top (push the follower or previously loaded shell down with your fingers and insert the next shell on top like a regular mag.

  13. OK, let say Obama plans goes through... Now, the government is saving those $528 billions and the insurances have to pay it instead. So the cost of private insurance will raise for everybody and the service provided to veterans will go down. Veterans won't be hired by small companies because it would likely raise the cost of their group health insurance coverage. That's just great... Don't you all love this?
  14. Thanks, but I really dont want to put any more money in it, unless one of these was a surefire fix? which one would you try first? Tell you what, I'll send you a tappet. If it fixes your problem, pay the invoice, if it doesn't take care of your problem then send it back. Sound reasonable? I have a three hole Saiga 12 that wouldn't cycle any low brass rounds. It works like a charm with everything else, but the purpose of this shotgun in my collection is to shoot a lot and that means... cheap ammo. I just got one of your tappets and it still does not cycle low brass on setting
  15. Like Mike D said, one or more steel insert would suffice to eliminate the broken mag problems. Look at the AK Bulgarian mags made be Arsenal. Do the same construction for the S-12 mag...
  16. You can replace the gas puck by the King Armory one and the gas plug by Gunfixr's plug (available through MD Arms)
  17. Active is not in business anymore and I don't think you will any any trouble using them in your Saiga. Here is some info for you: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0BQ..._47/ai_68704843 ACTIV Industries Kearneysville, W.V.-based ACTIV offers shotshell reloading components to fit its ACTIV family of all-plastic shotshells. The company's TG-30 wad is an excellent fit for this hull plus any others with a cylindrical interior. Data booklets are available and they include information for using ACTIV components in other hulls as well.
  18. A week ago, they were $499 at the local gun show. I have seen a few Arsenal converted Saiga for $975 at the show and in some stores. Cheapest I have seen in a while were $399 about a month or two ago.
  19. Load and unload them a few times and try to spray some air-soft gun silicon in them.
  20. Didn't want to be an ass and I'm glad you had fun. It's just that I have been waiting once for the EMS helicopter on the side of a seasoned shooter who accidentaly shot himself and that was no fun at all. Ringing in the ear (titinus) is the first cause of disability in troops coming back from Midlde East and it is no fun either...
  21. Yes, I put a light treadlock compound on it. It may prevent a possible bad surprise: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDBgDduFXcg
  22. +1 for Federal If your Saiga can cycle the Winchester, it is likely to be slightly over gazed or the action has been re-worked pretty good.
