  1. Mine also has only 3 ports and I can cycle anything because I have a KA puck, GUNFIXER Plug, and a 25% reduced hammer spring.
  2. Could you make any of the major components for a saiga 12 clone?
  3. I recommend both the GUNFIXER plug and KA puck. Also get the 25% reduced hammer spring from CSS. I use all three of these in mine. They bring reliability to a new level when used together. I've got the plug, the puck, and the spring. With the spring I like it and consider it a great improvement over the OEM part, but I don't think it helps the performance nearly as much as the plug and puck. If you are really trying to save money, get the puck first and hold off on the spring for now. +1. I am just a perfectionist and the spring only cost $15.00.
  4. I sent all 10x of mine back to promag for warrenty claim. Amen. I might do the same. I don't know if it's all Promags, because I've heard a few good reviews of them, but this particular mag really sucks. It couldn't feed a round to save it's life, or mine. Maybe Promag makes Vodka Specials? Promags are essentially a FAD. They look cool and are cheep. With effort, it is possible to get them to work, but with the cost of ammo and the number of rouds that would be required to gain confidence I descided to stick with 8rd surefire mags. For me the Promag FAD is over.

  8. I did not have a failure, I ask the question because I am thinking about purchasing some additional mags. With a little work, the Promags I have currently will feed anything I throw at them, but with all the various opinions on this site I find myself contemplating other options. As part of my research it occurred to me that I had never heard of a Promag breaking. As I live in the north and have occasion to shoot in the cold, breakage is something I must strongly consider as part of my decision. I recommend 8rd surefire mags. I have never heard of a single case of those breaking and the
  9. Not sure I understand. Have you seen this before? Does it need to be routed out? Whatever it is it's not "loose". It apprears to have a corresponding indention in thebarrel wall as well (thinking of Patriot12's post). I guess at this point I need to know how to fix it (if need be), or if it's dangerous to just shot it like it is. The only reason that I said chrome is because these barrels are chrome lined. The ouners manual also states that paint scratching and chrome chipping should not be seen as defects. This causes me to believe that might be part of the chrome lining, unless

  11. It looks like some of the chrome is comming off. I would send this picture to both Bobash at Tromix as well as RAA and get their opinions. I have never seen this myself. I noticed some scratches in my chamber and sent some pictures in a private message to Bobash and got some good advice.
  12. It took about a week for me. He uses regular mail and he is in a remote area. So a week to ship from KA to Alabama, you can guage off of that.
  13. I experiance the same thing. First run a bore snake from the chamber to the front about 50x. Then use a bronse brush wrapped in a patch and dip in solvant. When you insert the brush run it up and down as if it is a ram rod on a fintlock. Keep replacing lead filled patches with clean ones and repeat. You will be down before you know it.
  14. Great lessons learned. I had the same experience with the promags. I sent all 10x of mine back for warrenty work. If I get them back, I will give them another try and the first time one fails I will sell all 10x of them. They look great, but for me that fad is over. I wish I got surefire 8rd mags instead. It sounds like AGP mags are good as well. I use energizer lithium AAs in my Kobra. I find they last much longer. For the Kobra a 50 yrd zero with slugs will allow you to be zeroed for most 2 3/4in and 3in slugs. I use the dot for the slugs at 50 yrds and switch to the three post when I fire s
  15. I usually don't buy a gun until I know how many ways I can convert it. This toy looks like an AR15 with the potential avenues I take it down. Here's what I envision it becoming: I figured nominally, it'll take $300 to get the trigger guard/FCG and stock done. That money is better spent on other firearms right now...or at least paying off the ones I'm in the process of buying! Sometimes the most important parts are the ones that you don't see. I recommend the GUNFIXER plug, KA piston puck, and the 25% reduced hammer spring from CSS. Won't improve looks but will function so much bet
  16. The more you research this forum the more you will learn how to upgrade your saiga and enhance performance.
  17. I have a Kobra EKP-1S-03M and have not had trouble with the two AA batteries at any time. However, I have been using energiser lithium. I find that those have an extremely long battery life than standard AA.
  18. That is a good thing. Why in all things holy would you want a scope mounted so high that you can also use the irons under it? Just stick with irons then The worst thing is a person who goes through the trouble of mounting a scope then mounts it awkwardly high (like the russian mounts aren't high enough) so they can use their irons "just in case". That is why they have a quick release mount. If it malfunctions tear it off. +1. Also these thing don't malfunction that much. It is as reliable as the AK it was built for.
  19. I have one and talk about it in a thread called Kobra Red Dot for Saiga and Live Fire After Action Review. It does not mount high enough to use iron sight, but it is extremely durable and can quickly come off and be put back on without losing ZERO. I tested it first hand, see my thread it does not lose zero when removed. I recommend you use eastwave at http://www.eastwave.ca/products/scopes/cobra.html I bought mine from them for $295.00 and it was actually shipped directly from the Russian Federation. I hope this helped.
  20. I was apprehensive after I had some 12rd surefire fail with 3in shells, but the more rounds I put through the 8rd mags the more my confidance increases and admiration. I plan on buying some clear 12rd mags from Gregg and cut them down to 8rd mags. As for Promags, that fad is over for me.
  21. +1, I retract my last post. I should have bought from them.
  22. +1, Rabid is right. You might also want to ensure you use good trust worthy mags. I found that the 8rd surefire are the most reliable. I can't speak about the AGP, don't own any. I have never had any failures out of the 8rd surefire mags and shells can extract from the mag with less force because there is no steel lip digging into the base of the brass. I have had trouble with 12rd surefire feeding 3in shells, but once I cut them down to 8rd size all problems has ceased. Promags are cheeper and look better, but extensive modifications maybe required to make them work right and with the added c
  23. KROSS FA, I have not seen you before. Have you seen the proposed critical replacement parts thread? Could you make any of those parts?
  24. I got mine on gunbroker.com. That is your best place. Plan to spend about $599.00.
  25. When will the Chaos rails be available? That might be a better alternative for you.
