  1. A woman. Who else...? (not tacticool-wife & bohound. though... I hope) Yep, I'm sure you're right on that. The woman in my house has been known to stack up the Sunday paper laying on the couch and manage to throw out the TV remote in the stack of paper. I wonder if the women trash on us for the stupid things we do over on the scrap-booking forums?
  2. My thoughts exactly when I watched that. She "seems" smarter than the rest of that bunch. Unfortunately maybe one of those nice girls that likes the excitement of hanging out with "bad boys". I hope she doesn't get hurt. Would be interesting if any LEOs have any opinions on the felony/misdemeanor count they racked up here. I agree that attempted murder is probably a stretch, but firing at people's feet would seem to qualify as assault with a deadly weapon. Pointing weapons at people's heads could be brandishing. Lots of reckless endangerment going on. Then the alcohol, and if th
  3. Even if I didn't know what that was, I'd still have thrown it in a parts box. Who would toss out parts like that?
  4. Man I really hope there are some arrest warrants issued on this.
  5. That pic shows the problem.... the bolt should not be sticking out of the bottom of the grip with it assembled to the DIY like that.
  6. That's been covered here several times. You may need to use a flat file on the barrel to remove just a few .001's of paint/metal for clearance on the gas knob. Somebody said they had seen one from the factory with a flat spot on the barrel and painted over.
  7. The grip bolt is too long. The regular AK grip uses that long bolt, but the bolt assumes you are using a standard grip nut that has no limit on the bolt length. The grip nut on the Tromix DIY goes only so deep before it bottoms out. Actually, I don't remember if it's drilled through the plate or not. If it is, that will cause a problem because the end of the bolt will hit the bottom of the receiver and start to jack up the plate on the Tromix DIY off of the surface of the receiver. If it's not drilled through, then the screw will try to tear the grip nut off of the plate. Either way it's..
  8. That rocks! Thanks for the pics! Thanks for your reply too Jaymce. Nice work on your guards!
  9. Wow.... very cool obake! Where did you get the rail covers? I also look forward to seeing your new setup kwesi.
  10. Can you put a Fuglystick "Holes" model and a Barrel Shroud "Holes" model together on a gun and take a pic so we can see what they look like together? Cobra gets the credit for putting those two items together on his "Black Widow". He was using custom parts though and I want to see what this combo would look like with the off the shelf parts you have in stock. Also, the ordering page shows that the Fuglystick "Holes" model offers a lower rail, can you confirm that a lower rail works on that model? Thanks!
  11. IIRC there have been posts crying about broken mainsprings. Likely due to mishandling during a conversion or other user related damage. As you said, they are pretty tough. Still, it seems like a good idea to keep one in the spare parts box.
  12. I plan on installing the Tromix pin and saving the stock pin as a spare. Now that the firing pin and the recoil springs will be available from Tromix, and a replacement hammer spring is already available, we should be pretty much covered on parts that could just break from normal use. Not much else to go wrong with them...... right?
  13. I'm no metallurgist, but I know what you are saying regarding the hardness of the metals involved. The brass brush should not be able to scratch the barrel. There's always the argument that counters that though.... why do hardened knives get dulled by cutting through wood, fish, meat, bone, etc. ? Also, what's to guarantee that the metal in the brushes is what it's supposed to be? Is it possible the brass in the brush was contaminated with another metal? I know that in theory I should be safe, but the scratches still look like scratches.
  14. Good idea and I thought of that, but it doesn't look like it. It doesn't have that painted on appearance, and it doesn't scratch off with a fingernail. The scratches are very fine, you can't feel them, but they are definitely there. If I had been more aggressive with the brush, I'm guessing the scratches would be more serious. From my searching around the net in different gun forums, I see all kinds of opinions on the brass brushes. Some say they have used them 20+ years with no problems, and some say they don't use brushes of any kind in their barrels. It seems odd to me that
  15. I've had my .45 Baby Eagle for a couple of years now and it's been a great pistol, I like it a lot. I also take great care of it, and clean it after each trip to the range, properly lube it, etc. I was cleaning the barrel the other day as directed in the owner's manual with the brass brush that was supplied with the gun, it also came with a nylon brush. The brass brush is only about half the diameter of the barrel (maybe for a .22 ?) with extremely stiff and sharp bristles. The nylon brush is larger and fills the barrel. I always thought that the brass brush was a little harsh for the
  16. Very nice Dogman! Thanks for the pics.
  17. It's all just a good story unless you have the pictures to prove it!
  18. Cool! I know the slant brake definitely has an effect on the AK. Would be interesting to test the effect on the S12. How does it index to the correct position? (jam nut I assume)
  19. I tried doing it the way shown in the CSS video. Poked at it for a while and gave up on that method, I think the needle nose pliers I was using did not have a small enough nose on it. Tried the dental floss method and had it done in a few minutes. When you're not making progress, change your tactics.
  20. I have the grenade launcher pad (FSE pad) which is ok, I'd rather have a better fitting/looking pad though. Greg @CSS was talking about getting some pads in that fit the standard AK size stock. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=41320
  21. Greetings MrGoat..... Yep, that is totally normal. Don't ride the bolt, just let it fly. Any relation? http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w266/sw...r/goatboy-1.jpg
  22. Hey Mike, any input on this? Seems like a lot of the 00 buck is really over the 2-3/4" spec. What brand of 00 buck fits in the drum?
