7.62x54r VEPR surplus accuracy- what do you get?
Cryogaijin replied to projectiledysfunction's topic in Vepr 7.62 X 54r
I'm benched in with a 6x42 POSP. It is fair to say my gun is more accurate than I am, with good ammo. -

Cryogaijin replied to projectiledysfunction's topic in Vepr 7.62 X 54r
Depends on the ammo, really. My 27"er seems to like the heavy Hungarian 180gr better than the light ball stuff. It also likes the 174 grain match ammo one can find at around 50c a round. The Hungerian gets me about 1.5moa, and the match 1moa at 200 yards. -

Hopefully in time for valentine's day: 20 round SGM magazines
Cryogaijin replied to Cryogaijin's topic in Vepr 7.62 X 54r
Yeah, double into single SGM has been talking about. More interested in these than the 25 round drum they've got for the 12. (I still like my s12 with MD arms drums. . .) -

While I think Saigas are only worth $350 or so, they still beat any other $600 AK you could get. At least IMO. Veprs?

Article on ARMSCOR Philippines

My first gun was an Armscor m20p. Accurate bugger, with decent wood. -
Definately needs to be some "Man up and just shoot it." Been using my .308 since 2009 without a muzzle device, and it isn't hard to deal with the muzzle blast or recoil.

Molot-usa. I may have gotten the last 27". Came with a nice flash-hider and scope mount, with rings.

I've put about 500 rounds through it since resetting the spring. No problems of any kind. Yall are awesome.

With wood this nice, I'll be unlikely to put anything polymer on it. Though I'll likely get a set of Ironwood's SVD wood just to have a nice spare.

Quantum physics question
Cryogaijin replied to Yugopap4me's topic in General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!
"The harp program" is actually HAARP, the High Altitude Auroral Research Program. Basically a bunch of microwave emitters beaming into the upper atmosphere about 100 miles from Fairbanks Alaska. You can actually see the fringes of the project on the train from Anchorage to fairbanks. As for "pulling matter out of thin air" it actually happens zillions of times a second in any given area of vaccuum. "Virtual particles" pop into existance, and instantly annihilate each other. (Think a proton and antiproton pair so close to each other they can't possibly not attract and collide) This is a -
As someone who checks people into hotels for a career, I do "profile" people based on appearance. Wearing a Leupold shirt or Cabala's cap? I'll prolly talk to you about guns. Have a Dr in front of your name and live on the east coast? I'll talk about my BIL who is an emergency room doctor out that way. (And incidentally I've run into two of his former bosses, 3k miles from where he's worked. . . small world.) Come in toting a rifle case, I'll be curious what is in it. If you are printing your CCW I will mention it, and point out that our housekeeping staff is VERY skittish about such things.

Polish M57 vs. Romanian TTC
Cryogaijin replied to BigChongus's topic in General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!
I love my m57. I got a hard chromed one from classic when they were offering them 3 years ago. Fun gun, and I was lucky enough to get some of the last milsurp for it, so I have cheap ammo for quite some time. One bonus for the m57, mags aren't terribly hard to find, nor terribly expensive. I have 5 for mine. -
Which is why I removed the rounds from their firearms. They don't need them, living in a very good neighborhood (that they built) with good neighbors, with a good security system, with VERY good locks, and bars on all doors and most ground level windows. (The ones without bars are actually reinforced plexiglass.) Not to mention their live-in help. To the best of our knowledge they never even check their firearms, even though they've had a shotgun and handgun in their bedroom for years. Made the help nervous (Understandibly so with the dementia) My grandmother died in january,
