IMO, once you convert it, you wont want to put it back to stock configuration. I didn't rivet anything when I did my X39, accept the rear hole of the side mount when I took it off, which could have been remedied by not drilling too deep into the rivet and leaving it on there, I just used one nut and bolt for the trigger guard. Maybe some one can do a Cali conversion thread with a mag lock and all, and get it stickied for the California guys.

Unwanted, as in slamfiring? I do 98% of my shooting out in BLM lands without anyone else there, so the occasional slam fire won't be too big an issue.

Looks nice. I think it might look funny without a hand guard retainer though. It looks like the front would be open. It is real nice to see more American made options out there, but I think I'll keep my "air soft UTG crap" until Cross or Chaos comes out with something Saiga specific. Then again I don't plan on hanging anything from my rail, I just like the fact that it cools down at least twice as fast as the stocker.

Have you tried it to see if it fits yet? You might need to fit the mag to the magwell like they say you can do to an AGP mag to fit the Surefire magwell. Or you could just sell the 5rder and get another surefire. I would call CSS and see if they have a guide on how to fit the mags to the magwells.

I believe you need an AK74 fsb to retain the cleaning rod. Maybe imarangemaster will enlighten us, he seems to have one or two on his AK103 clones.

I've only done my X39 but I'm willing to help in Phoenix Arizona area(I'm a little east of there). I also have an S12 that I'm going to pop the cherry on this weekend and then convert within the next month or so.

That's an interesting idea, have you shot it yet? How does it feel? Any better balance than an unmodified stock? Is it removable, and if so have you filled it with any thing or do you plan on it? The more I research, the more I have to agree with every one else. Go Chaos. They are fairly cheap now and US made. The UTG is ok if you don't plan on mounting stuff, but I would not trust it with my life.
