  1. The retaining plate seems to be the easy way. And then plug the holes like this. Or if you are using an Ace internal receiver block, drill and thread where the old FCG went and put some screws in. Binding posts are non necessary.
  2. Hmm, that must be the part in the VW bus. The only part of that movie I remember is Jessica Biel running around in in a wet T-shirt. Cool movie (from what I remember)
  3. Nice job, I can't wait till mine is done so I can post a pic in hear too. That looks awfully familiar.
  4. That avatar is horrible. LOL thanks Ya I got it. This pic would have helped but it only took a few tries. Thanks Ewe Well it's almost there. I have to bend the BHO plate and cut a little off of the receiver so it will fit threw. Maybe I'll just weld a little metal tab on the plate. Other than that, fit and function seems good. Should have a video up this coming week of it actually working.
  5. Wow, that's just stupid. AK's don't have the greatest safeties, but come on.
  6. Figured I'd pass it along. Not sure of the quality yet, but they sure are cheap compared to some others I've seen. AKM Night Sights
  7. Bump Got the pistol grip today, thanks Lakedweller. And thank you to Warrior Judge too for starting this thread. Good call.
  8. That's an aesthetic question you have to ask yourself. If you do it carefully, you won't create any rust vectors during your conversion. The gun will work fine w/o any finish on it whatsoever. I would just rattle can the bottom if your trying to save some cash. Refinishing the whole gun is not necessary, but there will be a big unpainted section on the bottom of the receiver.
  9. That's what I'm waiting for. I got my x39 for $300 back in the day, and couldn't find an S12 for less than $400 back then.
  10. It has begun. Judgment day is upon us (Sorry just watched Terminator 3 last night). I like how the train tracks go through the grass. LOL
  11. Sweet, I got my retaining plate. I will have to try the crooks first to see how they work as Glockmonger said, I don't want to have to take it to a smith if the retaining plate craps out. Thanks guys. I'll get a vid up as soon as I can. Here's the two I am talking about.
  12. Are you talking about the pin that is V shaped with a bend at the end or the long stock one with a coil on it? I have both but just want to be sure. Is one easier than the other? I wish I had my retainer plate, this would be much easier.
  13. I did the conversion. I think i just "LOOKS" too close to the trigger in the pic. The grip is notched to form around the back of the trigger guard. I basically bolted the grip where the old trigger stuck through the receiver. should i have made a hole? If i could move the grip back 1/4 of an inch it would solve the problem Doesn't the PG hole sit behind the old trigger hole? I don't have an S12 yet so I am just going off my X39.
  14. Cool, I'll give it a try tonight when I get home and if I can't get it I'll give you a call. Thanks Daniel.
  15. They are yours, PM me your info and I will ship it out ASAP. I belive I have all the hardware too. I'll check and see when I get home.
  16. Basically, the extended BHO plate and tab on the bolt carrier, bring the bolt back when locked open like in pic 3 and 4. Then the BHO button that sticks out the bottom of the receiver, I want to bend so I can release it with my trigger finger chambering a round. Once I get the retainer plate I will post a video. I can't seem to figure out the shepherd crook.
  17. I read over mec_22's post about cutting the charging handle and putting it on the left side and decided to give it a try. While I was at it I wanted to make the BHO more functional for my use. I figure why have a BHO if you have to pull the handle back to chamber a round? So I added a piece of 1/8 x 1/4 cold drawn steel bar stock to the bolt carrier in front of the old BHO tab. That moved it about 5/8 of an inch. I still needed another 1/2 or so just to be behind the round so I added some 14 gauge hot rolled steel sheet to the BHO plate and extended it about another 7/8 of an inch. That put me
  18. Ahh screw it, I don't need the PG but eventually I will buy a S12 and convert it so I will take it and offer up my stock x39 furnature and 10 rd mag. This thread is cool, keep it going.
  19. pm sent for all 8 if they are still available, or whatever you have left thanks =) Sold to Indi for $75. Thanks. Email sent
  20. I have an RIA tactical and use it as my daily carry. I would recommend the tactical version because it's not much more money and it has some good features.
  21. Damn, that's a HUGE bitch. Oh, and my .02, the reason I contributed to this site is because over the last year I have learned so much that I think it is worth the money to keep this place going. I could care less about selling on here, but if this place wasn't here, I would not be converting my Saiga, and I wouldn't know shit about it. So I will take this opportunity to say thanks to every one on this board for helping me out, even if you don't know you have.
  22. Why get a ak74 style fsb? I thought the best part was that they dont have that collar on the tip of the barrel and they already had the hole drilled for the pin to hold the brake in place so it didn't need to be welded. Just curiouse, I want a brake some day too.
